I agree Dougie..

I still think he is an average midfielder as well.

I like this Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone on Twitter: "Can't believe who just sneaked into the training ground the back way! Wow."

Hopefully he's just taking the piss.

Follow up suggests it was more likely a WAG.

Anyhow, more dead wood is being shown the door with announcement that Hutton and Jenas off to Villa.

Nice post on DML:

What's the difference between Spurs fans and puppies? After a couple of weeks, puppies will quit whining...

Feck, I've never seen such a bunch of ungrateful, sackless, glory-hounds. Personally, I don't see how this transfer window could be seen as anything but a smashing success. At the beginning of the summer, our avowed goals were:
1. retain Modric
2. add a world class striker
3. add a defensive/holding midfielder (esp. after Sandros injury)
4. upgrade at CB if possible
5. upgrade at GK if possible

Ok, let's review. At the end of the window, WE HAVE MODRIC!!, a new GK (for free), a striker who scored 2 at WHL while knocking us out of the CL for Real Madrid (with someone else paying half his wages), the last year's PL POY at midfield (5m) and a who's who of mediocrity on the way out (Keane, Crouch, Palacios, Hutton, Bentley and Jenas). Let me repeat that. Keane. Crouch. Bentley. And Jenas. Are no longer with us. I feel like running through the streets crying. I'm not sure I was this happy since my wedding day (take that however you like...) Yeah, we got off to a rocky start this year. Did anyone catch how the Arse are doing? How about Chelsea? They haven't looked world beaters, and that's against the league dross, not exactly the hydra from Manchester that laid us to waste. So, in order for this season to be a success, all we have to do is compete with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal with essentially the same squad that got us into the CL quarterfinals, minus a bunch of deadweight and with the addition of a top quality striker and midfielder. You bunch of moaners (you know who you are) ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Youre not fit to sniff Levy's jock. Sorry for the rant spooky, but I can only take so much. Come on you f**king Spurs!

Intro blurb from podcast#2:

Welcome to the second episode of The Fighting Cock, this week coming from The Maynard pub in North London and it's squeaky kitchen door. No engineer Al this week which meant recording the podcast was one of epic blood and sweat. We got there in the end (apologies for the sound dipping a few times in the opening 5 minutes).

Flav, Spooky, tehTrunk, Ricky and Chicago Dan all present and discussing Joey Barton and Emmanuel Adebayor as potential transfer signings and pushing them head first through the 'What If?' shredder of disdain. The team also look towards the new up and coming season (are we up for another top 4 fight?).

We've got also got Neil the cabbie - the dbut of one of many features we have lined up. Got some email listener feedback/questions too. Also Ricky implodes and undeniably looks set to win 'Pr*ck of the Week' before a single vote has been cast.

Nice message on the Fighting Cock #7 about fans (from about 38:30 onwards - forget about the first 13 mins describing self-pleasuring techniques).

Reminded me of last season (games against Roar and and CCM).

Will be a good match - depending on which Spurs team turns up on the day.  I'm feeling a lot happier after this weekend's performance - will be interesting to see if VdV slots back in if at all, and who travels to greece mid week.

Ohh true, you have Europa League. So guess that means our game is on Monday morning here? Well, you gotta think Adebayor and/or Defoe will give Carra the run around. Lucas will be important for us.

Sounds like 'Arry's young boys did well (if under the kosh) to come away with a point in Greece where the atmosphere was somewhat scorchio.

On the minus side, how am I going to sleep and function at work tomorrow now?

Great way to start off an increased broadband allowance.

Great win - starts to put a more positive tint on our start to the season

Adebayor must be good, he's even reminded Defoe how to score!!

Well that was a good start to the week. What a difference Parker and Adebayor make to our team though, I know Adebayor has been trouble has previously clubs but you can see what he brings to a team, he drops deep to get the ball, he holds it up well, he wins most of his header, and slotted 2 of the 3 chances he had.

And Parker just steadies the ship, makes simple passes.

The ill-discipline from Liverpool was incredible to watch (funny too)...

Actually the whole team played well. No one had a bad game, Even Niko in the first half was a bit of a playmaker.

Loving Kyle Walker at RB and BAE had a blinder. Modric has started on his road to redemption - hopefully his "head has come right" now and he plays a pivotal role in the push for a CL spot that he desperately wants.

'Arry is doing his media whoring bit as usual -this time being woodgate's mate.

Last bit re the CC game against Stoke is pretty encouraging: Redknapp is set to make a host of changes for the game on Tuesday with Heurelho Gomes, William Gallas, Vedran Corluka, Sbastien Bassong, Rafael van der Vaart and Roman Pavlyuchenko all set to start against Stoke, who could field three recently departed Spurs players in Woodgate, Wilson Palacios and Peter Crouch.

That's a pretty impressive lot of back-ups.

The good news is that we didn't conced any goals in 120 mins.

The bad news is that we didn't score any either.

Indeed!

However this is shaping up to be a good season for Spurs - a win away at one of the bogey "W" teams and we're knocking on the door of the big boys (Mancs, Noveau Scum and the Toon).  With a game in hand.  Against the Toffees.  At home.

A little old, but an interesting read: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2011/sep/16/joy-of-six-spurs-liverpool

I can vividly remember reading about game #3 in Shoot magazine.  Pat Jennings still in goal that day and seemingly doing well to stop the scousers from getting into double digits.

Good: http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/5702436/London-Mayor-urges-Spurs-to-stay-in-Tottenham
I hope that will do the trick.

'Arry's young ones to start against Shamrock tomorrow morning (as expected), but all eyes are on the next game at the Lane.
