Really? Wait... really? While I can admit some inconsistence, it is a far cry from the most underachieving team in the prem. We just bet the mancs for crying out loud.. Sure there has been some poor results in amongst that too, but the MOST?

Worst post I have read on here in a while.

To be fair to Darthrich, we have also lost to Fulham, Hull and Stoke and gave away a 2 goal lead against Spurs. The win against ManYoo was good but 1 result doesn't make a season.

Yeah, I admitted that in my post. He just didn't seem to be in the position if he does support spuds. If he doesn't then perhaps he is in the right position, although - really who has been consistent? Chelski have done well of late with a fairly injured squad, although they do have a big name bench. Liverpool are doing ok, but have been beated by the kings of consistency twice now in a row, and manyoo are not all that consistent either..

Your mere posting presence is inflammatory to a THFC fan such as myself, hence my comment. What ever you post is a projection of yourself presumably?

NB I could never agree that Arsenal are the most underachieving club...those 19 yr olds are clearly overachievers.

so by saying we are underachieving, you are saying our sqaud is better than the two squads ahead of us in the table, but because we have underachieved we are only in third when we deserve a higher place in the table?

No. What i am saying is that given the manager you have, the youth system you have, the revenue you bring in and the quality of players you have had recently, you guys should be aiming for cups. Wins against the other top four clubs count for nothing at the end of the day, unless you win something. If i was a arse fan, i would expect to win at least 1 cup each year or i would consider that year a failure.Having not won anything in 3 years, i consider that a huge underachievment.Just my opinion though, and if you are happy coming third each year, well thats your bis.

I just watched the goal highlights from the Carling Cup win over Liverpool. Check it out at 101greatgoals.com if you haven't seen it...

GOMES must go, both goals were his fault - he is rubbish...

We'll take that win. Should've had more, had the lions share of pocession, but couldn't kill the game off. Gomes didn't have much to do, but fumbled his first attempt at catching a cross. He still needs to go, even the crowd were cheering loudly everytime he caught on.

The Woolwich Wanderers (ARSEnal) lost again, The Nix won, Spurs won, the Kiwis won, the Breakers won, and the AB's won - other than the dreadful effort at the Gabba i don't think it gets much better than this...

Another European away job well done. Very happy about that given the nmber of changes...we do actally have options in a number of positions which is great.

Pissed off that Hutton has such a long lay off with his foot though.

Bring on Everton.

Brilliant result for us, this was a massive game for us. Don't want to get too excited but after we play Man Utd this weekend, we have a decent run of fixtures where we will need to pick up max points. Good to see we drew Burnley in the cup over 2 legs, so hopefully we will progress through to the Final and defend our Cup.

stoked about the win, couldnt get out of work so had to rely on dodgy gamecast.
replay tonight at 9.30 though.
what are your impressions of the match harryhotspur?
sounds like modric was superb.

I watched the whole game, we started well and Modric had a golden chance after about 1 min, but shot straight at the keeper. West Ham then started to boss the game, and had a few good chances, but then i thought we dominated the 2nd half, especially from about the 60th minute on.

We had heaps of chances, although they had probably the best one of the match but Gomes (bless him) bought off two quality saves in a row.

On the balance of the game i thought 2-0 was a fair result.

Modric went in and out of the game, played really well in the 2nd half, Zokora was pretty non-existant, Bently and Lennon both had good moments.

King was immense as usual and scored the first with his head. O'Hara scored a screamer from about 20m out, top right hand corner with about 5 mins to go.

Not as much arial as I expected, although with Zola at the helm, you do wonder whether that would be the case!

DR: that comment on Zakora is pretty much my feeling, although there were 2 or 3 surging runs from deep. Despite this I can see why he starts ahead of Huddlestone for away games for the balance of the team, although at home I would rather see the big man in there.

interesting comments r.e zokora, a lot of what ive read on other forums and reports today has said it was perhaps his best performance for spurs, not exactly saying much but by all accounts he was right amongst it breaking up numerous attacks and carrying the ball with pace. oh how i yearn for a true holding midfielder! the hudd aint bad but he has very definite limitations.

Hmm - i didn't see that of him today. He didn't seem to be that involved, sure he made the odd run, and the commentator said he hasn't scored a goal for 5 years.

I guess he played ok, but we really need to buy a decent player for that position.

Here's the player ratings from the Mail (UK)

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (4-4-1-1): Gomes 7; Corluka 6, Woodgate 7, King 7, Assou-Ekotto 6; Bentley 6 (OHara 81), Zokora 5, Jenas 6, Lennon 6; Modric 5; Pavlyuchenko 5 (Bent 54, 6).

Man of the match: Ledley King.

I'm sure Harry would start with Tom at home and Zokora away

A mix of Zokora and Huddelstone would be a decent player, but you;re right both do have their limitations. I like Tom, but the modern game doesn't really have a position for him, he's basically a midfielder who likes to sit back and spray passes, and do none of the defensive responsibilities that come with that spot.

Kind of like a Hoddle who plays further back

Man Ure next, and Rooney has 5 yellows, so is suspended...nice although Tevez is a reasonable replacement!

Ramos not good enough for spurs, but good enough for real madrid it would seem!

Can anyone bring a title to the lane?

I can see Huddlestone in the mould of Xabi Alonso, we could use Zokora, Huddlestone and Jenas in a midfield triangle. However this means leaving out Modric. Personally I would prefer Modric to Jenas but maybe Mordic could play on the left as he did at the start of the season? Then push Lennon back out to the right and make Bently work for his spot.

The thing with Tom is that he doesn't scrap as a midfielder, even though he was a natural centre back with Derby. Our problem is we don't really have a foil for him. He is neither attacking nor defensive, he just plays his own role.

Also feel that Corluka has been playing very well of late. I would still prefer Bale to Assou-Ekotto but I don't want to jinx the Bale curse.

Looking foward to a massive game Vs Man Utd at the lane, with both teams looking to attack, there should be goals galore.

really enjoyed the replay last night, reflecting on it i think corluka or zokora was my man of the match, king was solid as ever and really changes the whole dynamic of the team but he wasn't exactly tested on many occassions. corluka has great positional sense and while he wasnt tested much either he just looks like a truly classy player. the mail's rating of zokora as a 5 was rough! thought he broke up plenty of attacks, sure he doesnt offer much on attack but at this stage thats not the issue. the hudd vs zok debate is interesting, hudd definitelky the better passer but zokora surely the better defender. good to have them both playing better than they were though so can't really complain too much.

mancs this weekend, can't wait! flatmate and father both filthy supporters so should we win ill be loving it!
