Did enjoy seeing a mid week evening game on HD.
Will probably look for a scratchy stream this Sat night.  Hoping for another clean sheet.

Yeah, it's early enough in the night to make that worthwhile I reckon!

Tough game on Saturday.  Guardian hyping up the managerial split.

Whatever the result on the pitch our gaffer is sexier than the Chavs' one:

A pundit who has had a good strike rate over the rounds to date is picking 1-1 for Spurs vs Chavs.  I'd agree - too close to call either way I think.

And so it is.

Shame that Torres wasn't red-carded earlier.  We might have got a win.

I has a sinking feeling as soon as it was obvious Mata would be coming on in the second half. Still, given the Mancs results overnight, I can live with it.

Not sure if I'm more embarrassed by Townsend's dive or JV's face clutch.

Was very impressed with Dembele in second half while most of the rest stuttered. I'd have brought on Sandro, and pushed little Paul up into the 10 position.

Townsend: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/sep/29/tottenham-andros-townsend-chelsea That's pretty upfront and taking responsibility.

Verts - this is another perspective from the comments section in the link below:

Watch the replay of the Torres's careless, non-vertical aerial challenge and you'll see two very interesting things. First, you'll see exactly why Vertongen is holding his head just above the left eye; and it's not because he's play-acting. True, Torres never touched him there. Rather, the ball made full impact in that dangerous, painful area because Torres rammed him. His discomfort must have been quite real. Second, you'll see some play-acting: by Torres. Watch him grab his head as though he was somehow the victim of an injurious assault. He seems to be looking to avoid being penalized by playing the sympathy card. The ploy did not work. The challenge was not a yellow card foul because Torres smacked Vertongen in the face; he didn't. It was a yellow card foul because it was rash and dangerous, irrespective of any actual damage done. All the commentary on this incident is way off-the-mark, focusing irrelevantly on the lack of contact between Torres and Vertongen's face.

I agree that Torres did try and play act too - but as for the rest, methinks he doth protest too much.

Cheers for the Friday am headsup.

I know Vlad got a bit of a roasting on Sommet this morning - but honestly, when have THFC ever had such a cultured centre back? His potential is huge - whether he's ready to cut it in the EPL I'm not sure (I'm worried about his aerial capability) but watching him dribble out of sticky situations (albeit the author of his own misfortune at times) was hilarious.

I've dreamt of Spurs having a Hansonesque CB for ever...maybe here he is?

Far less convinced about our expensive pretty boy Argentinian though.

Not good footy, but job done and another clean sheet.

Need to bring out the A-team for the other racist cockneys on Monday morning.

The question is, which A-team?

There you go. More Sandro = less goals (against).

Watching it now on TV1.

Don't tell me the score!

... Townsend: :in reply to the question "New contract, scoring for your country, scoring your first Premier League goal for Tottenham, what's been the best bit?"

"Scoring for my country on my debut was one of the highlights of my career, but getting my first goal for my home town club in the Premier League is right up there."

WHL can be a morgue in my experience (in fact, it was, during WW 2) ...but quite frankly the price of tickets these days means if punters want to be quiet then that's up to them.

This is a really good piece on it, makes a lot of sense. Normally I'm not a fan of J.Nicholson but he's done well with this one;

Stolen from a rag this weekend, but I'll say it anyway:

I hope I can get six of the Spurs team to be my pall bearers: just so I can be let down by them one last time.

Willing to trade: One slightly used, excitable football manager (continental model).  Plenty of years left to go. Runs well but liable to a few crashes.  Will swap for an older English model (may or may not have tax liabilities and/or dog) with a preference for letting people "run around a bit".

Also keen to consider a Welsh motor for around 86 mill GBP.

Very strange at a high level, but then 0-3, 6-0 and now 0-5 in one season are not results that provide any confidence for the next half of the season.
Sherwood is caretaker gaffer... (just please don't choose Hoddle and Eileen as permanents).

Every club has blips, look at Manure this season. Panic move in my opinion. He lost Bale to a greedy chairman and tried to  make a better squad. Was always going to take 6 or more montts for it all to settle down.

Is this a blip? This is the club that sacked Redknapp for coming fourth, so the bar is clearly set higher than that. After not reaching that standard last year I would have expected that he was in last-chance territory already, and a few heavy losses were enough for Levy to swing the axe.

Perhapsa more Man United attitude might help spuds. Fergusson 3 seasons to settle and shit loads of premierships and Spurs have gone through as many managers at Flavio Briatore did in 4 years at QPR. Result both teams achieved next to nothing.
