Quite frankly I'm glad i missed it: I would have thrown the computer out of the window long before the final whistle by the sounds of it. Still, given that we play Manure, we might be a Championship side in the UEFA cup next year!

I can't wait to see this either:

"1951: That was nearly the greatest own goal of all time. The ball falls to Benoit Assou-Ekotto 40 yards from the Spurs goal and the left-back tries to pass it back to Ben Alnwick, but it ends up being a curler towards the top corner that the keeper tips behind for a corner."

Having been through the emotional wringer (and still a very proud Claret), why did the above incident not result in:
a) an indirect free kick for Burnley; and
b) Alnwick not being red-carded - clear professional foul to prevent a goal.

That could have made it very interesting (not that it wasn't in any case!)

Anyway, it took us back to the days when Burnley & Spurs were the two finest teams in the land.  Burnley's last major cup final appearance was against Spurs in 1962.  The two teams being respective champions for the previous two seasons and Burnley finishing the 61/62 season with the unenvied double runners-up prize.  Maybe there is hope that those days return.

Finally got another keeper that the gaffa can use. Not too keen on Chimbonda's return however I would be more than happy for him to prove me wrong seeing as he can cover both fullback positions. We are still heavily linked with a striker (Keane and Jones) but we definately need reinforcements to climb up the table. Good solid 3-1 win over stoke today, considering we lost to them earlier, these were points we had to get back. Huddlestone2009-01-28 13:34:32

Yup, he took a while to get going but there are lots of signs he could become THFCs little general.

Pity Modric couldnt carry form in to match against Bolt on, ""Harry Redknapp's response at the break was to replace the ineffective Luka Modric"(BBC). Frustrating as hell (Why am i surprised 27 years as a Yid most of them have been) we still can't defend set pieces.

Well, all the best for Robbie. Didnt exactly set the world on fire at the Pool, but I wish him well for the future (except against us!)

That's because he forget that the only decent 'Pool is Hartlepool.

Given Defoe is out for 10 weeks, Keane is the next bext thing. I actually expect Pav to up his goals with Keano by his side - he was just as much a creator as a goal scorer for the last couple of years.

Just in time to take on the Arse too...;we're going to need as much help as possible...I somehow doubt the BackBencher experience earlier on this yera is to be repeated...

Quite looking forward to seeing Keane and Pav as a front pairing.

Like the Jan signings, Cudicini a good signing, Chimbonda can cover across the back four and has a bit of bite and the Wigan guy looks quality.

Disappointing we couldn't snatch a win, we certainly had enough chances, but the thing that amazed me the most is the way the Woolwich Wanderers play these day. Of course i have always depised them but had a quiet admiration for the way they play.

But i watched them recently and then this game they play a lot of Route 1 football now.

Not a great result considering we were only playing 10 men for most of the game. Palacios was immense even before the sending off and was by far the best player on the pitch. Was angry with Modric today, he often lost the ball very easily and was quite greedy when easy options were on. I know he's our playmaker and he's gonna lose it every now and then, but so often today he just ran until he lost it.

Also too many long balls today, awful crosses into Keane and Bent in the later half of the game. We need Lennon on the pitch for every minute of every game if we are going to get any success this season, the guy just keeps on performing. His crosses aren't perfect but he gets into good positions and sets up others quite well.

That's quite interesting Huddlestone: the Guardian journo saw Modric's contribution in a very different light. Didn't see the game myself so I can't comment.

Certainly not too happy that we couldn't break them down with 10 men either.

Haven't posted on here for quite some time, acclimatising in Melbourne. Was sorry to miss the NLD at the backbencher Harry, last time was quite memorable, did you go down for it? watched it at a pub called the drums in melbourne with gooner mate, was a decent match i thought, probably would've won it had eboue stayed on the pitch, thought we looked much better playing against 11. Palacios looks like a little demon, loving him! CC final in a week, need to find a pub that will stay open for it! local closes at 3 so will only be half time over here! repeat of last seasons glory and i will be stoked! a trophy is a trophy! still, i dont know what i'd take more, 3pts tonight v hull or the CC....

I'd take the 3pts on offer now (20mins into match). Never knew the Dawson's were related!

Shut your mouth, HH!!!!

Reading the Guardian minute by minute is too shocking. I'm going to hide for an hour: it's all so painful.HarryHotspur2009-02-24 09:42:43

Ah finally a win, gotta love late goals when you score 'em, and god knows we've conceeded enough so about time we got one our way. Those were a crucial 3 points today, I think we have Middlesborough and Sunderland coming up in the league and those 2 games will be crucial in deciding our fate. Hopefully the Mancs waste all their efforts on Jose's men and leave the cup to us but I can't see Fergie throwing any silverware away. We will need a huge performance at Wembley to salvage this season.

What are the smoke signals coming out of Old Trafford for the CC? Do they have a weakened side? I thought beating Chelski last year was strange enough...to lose by any less than a couple of goals would be miraculous given our current form. Still, we are not unknown from wakening from our slumber when the big matches arrive.

Have we figured if anywhere in Wellington will show it? Or should I be making the most of Iraqgoals.com stay of execution?

I may actually want Tottenham to win this. Yes you heard me correctly. I'm quietly cheering for Spurs to win back to back Tinpot Cups.

Why? If Man Utd won everything on offer this season i think i'd top myself.

Where is the confidence that Arsenal can go all the way in Europe?

Id prefer Spurs to win as it will chew up another European spot and Wigan will miss out

Not sure about the side Man Yoo will put out, but they have a fairly big game tomorrow morning against Inter and then the return leg on the 11th, so their minds may be elsewhere (??)

Excellent result this morning especially with the backlog of fixtures we've got.

Strange to see Zokora start at right back ahead of Chimbonda though...(Corluka injured)
