If he's out of contract he's a real option then

Not sure if he's up to it though? Perhaps as 3rd/4th choice?

On another note I see Stuff has picked up on the winston reid rumour. That rumour is scratchy at best... not being reported on any of my usual football websites, I came across it on a newsnow feed. Does Stuff hijack YF for news?

I remember reading this stat that between him at Moyes, they've won 1 trophy in 30 years of manager and yet they are lauded. Rafa has won something like 8 trophies in 10 years and is laughed at.

Falcao will almost definitely leave Atleti. Sounds like if he goes to Monaco it's because of a third party ownership deal. That's total rubbish if he plays there. He needs to be playing Champion's League. He's incredible. More likely, I think we will see him playing for Chelsea next year, if City get Cavani.

Interesting checking back on some of the stories that appeared earlier. Big Sam has said that the 15mill transfer fee for Carroll had been agreed several weeks ago, and yet, only a week or so ago he was saying that WHU wouldnt be able to pay more than 10 mil because of capping on fees.

Mincie Pies Sammy.  And in your case, quite a few of them.

One day when I have plenty of time I will write down all of the players who WHU have approached or are said to be coming according to the media.

So it seems that the Neymar to Barcelona deal is now done - apparently the transfer is worth 50m pounds.  Ususally this is the sort of transfer that rumbles on all summer, with plently of "sources" providing quotes that he has his heart set on Madrid/wants to team up with Messi/thinks he will really enjoy working with Mark Hughes at Stoke.

The other story that is getting a bit of press and could be interesting is the Fabregas to Man Utd one.  Apparently Arsenal have first option on him, but if he doesn't want to go there that doesn't really mean anything.  Will be a fun story if it continues to run just for the amount it will wind up Gooners.

Also, Kolo Toure is set to complete his move to Liverpool this week - this seems a weird one to me, with him last being a good player in about 2007.

Jonjo Shelvey to West Ham and Higuain to Arsenal. Seems to be a few murmurs that Arsenal will spend up this summer. Moyes and Pellegrini will likely get bankrolled at their new jobs as well.

Is Fabregas unwanted at Barca? I'm surprised to hear they would be willing to let him go, the other two midfielders aren't getting any younger huh?

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent will demand a move to London this summer after being told he can leave the club.

Isn't this a bit like trying to break up with a girl just has she has broken up with you?

Aston Villa Executive - "um, sorry Darren, but we don't want you any more.  Your wages are too high, and you are not agood enough player to...."

Darren Bent - "sorry to interrupt, but i demand to leave"

wages will be too high, and they already have a decent poacher (Glen Murray).  I could see him going to Stoke (if Hughes is their manager) when he realises that no London club actually wants him

Some in-depth research tells me Fulham is a more likely destination for Darren.A much nicer part of London as well.

I did think about Fulham when I said that no London club would be interested, but thought that they have Berbatov and Ruiz who would already be on a big whack, so they would not need a 3rd striker on those sorts of wages as well.  Guess them (or West Ham) would be the most likely destination in Lodon but I think it would depend on how much of a pay cut he would be willing to take.  To me, he seems the perfect Hughes signing - getting on, massive wages - so I can see them chucking a load of cash at him.  That can be pretty hard to turn down.

Fabregas is not going to MUFC

If he does leave Barca (which is highly unlikely) the only port of call for him is return to Arsenal.

When he talks to Clichy, Nasri, van Persie about their moves, what do you reckon their advice to him will be?

Disappointed that Mark Hughes didn't get the Chelski job. He'd be perfect for them.

Where will Carlton Cole go at the end of his contract Frankie?

Please someone come in for Wright-Phillips please, and you can take Andy Johnson, Bobby Zamora, Jay Bothroyd, & DJ Campbell - please, please please. Also up for cheap grabs are Ferdinand, Bosingwa, Park, Granero & Green, Cesar....

At a guess: "Arsenal are cheap, Manchester clubs pay way more"?

probably more like "Arsenal are cheap, Manchester clubs pay way more.  Also, winning trophies is really, really fun.  I know you enjoyed doing it with Barcelona and Spain, so wouldn't you like to continue?"

It hasn't  been widely reported, but apparently the bosman lawyer is handling the first case against UEFA for someone claiming  potential income losses. Can't remember who, and can't be arsed looking for the source again. The outcome of that case should hopefully tell us if FFP is really going to work or not.

The 3 years notice ends after this season. Man City have made huge efforts to fall in line with it so they obviously think it's going to happen.

I wonder what Chelsea's fall back plan is. They just carry on making losses without a care in the world apparently.

seems like Arsenal are finally going to dust off the old Amex and get down to actually buying some players who are not just cut-price replacements for who they are losing:

Talking of Arsenal's striker targets, the Daily Mail give us a list that includes Rooney, Jovetic, Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema and Edin Dzeko, but also Swansea goal machine Michu.

Also talk of Sneijder to Chelsea, based on him being one of the top players in the world when he was with Mourinho at Inter (and being a bit custard since).  I would think that Chelsea are pretty well stocked for "diminutive playmaker just in behind the striker" (ie, the Jonesy), what with already having Hazard, Mata and Oscar.

Apparently West Ham have had a bid of 14.5m for Spanish international striker Negredo turned down (well, actually it seems like it was laughed out of the place by both the club and the player himself).  Not worried as I always saw him as a kind of poor mans Andy Carroll (who is already a poor mans Carlton Cole).

Also on the arsenal related front;

- Sagna in talks over a new contract (1yr left on current one) but looks 50/50 that he'll stay at this point

- Koscielny had a bit of a whinge in the french press about not winning trophies, don't like the look of that, usually how it starts when someone leaves

- Fabregas saying in the Daily Mail that he's staying at Barca, so no move from Arsenal or ManU there by the looks

- Apparently when asked about Rooney in an interview Wenger said "who would say no to a player like that" or something along those lines. Interesting comment - usually in those situations he just gives a flat no. Not sure if we'd be keen to get involved in a salary like Rooney's though, even if we can afford it these days.

Even at his best, I would suggest that he is only about 14% of the player that Carlton Cole is.

This is also interesting news - he has done very well at St Johnstone, but it will be interesting to see how the Millwall faithful take to having an ex West Ham captain as their new manager.......

Steve Lomas has been given permission to speak to Millwall about becoming their new manager.

I've added in brackets what has been left off this piece of gossip......

Tottenham's pursuit of Damiao is now on the backburner (until the next transfer window).

some very strange gossip today - I had to check that it wasn't April 1st......

* If this is true, it really is staggering. According to Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles, Jose Mourinho is prepared to sell Juan Mata this summer as he plans an overhaul of Chelsea's squad. Mata has been superb for the Blues since joining the club in 2011, scoring 12 goals and providing 12 assists in the Premier League last season, but apparently Mourinho isn't impressed as Real Madrid eye a move for the Spain international.

* Gervinho is a £12m target for Galatasaray -

* Arsenal flop Nicklas Bendtner says six clubs are chasing him

What's the Mata with Mourinho? That would be almost criminal getting rid of Juan of Chelsea's best players.
