West Ham getting absolutely hammered...Reid allowing a cross in there, in much the same way as Hearfield did last night, same result, goal...

Hammers have never lost four on the trot at the start of a season - so stastically we should win this one.

Will be interesting to see who partners Upson as Gabbs is apparently out with injury. Would obvisouly like to see Reid though I'm a big fan of Da Costa.

WTF is going on in the East End, Lyall's family and Greenwood's family have had their season tickets cancelled........

Guardian/Digger - Matt Scott
West Ham anger fans revoking Lyall and Greenwood families' privileges
Lyall and Greenwood families have season tickets taken away
West Ham failed to give any prior notice of their decision

West Ham United have sparked anger among their fans by taking away privileges from the families of John Lyall and Ron Greenwood without notice. The late managers are East End royalty, having been responsible for the only meaningful trophies West Ham have won in their 115-year history.

That was recognised last year when the main gates to Upton Park were renamed in Lyall's honour and a Greenwood and Lyall Lounge was opened. Both families had received complimentary directors' box tickets but, following the takeover by David Sullivan and David Gold - who have made great play of their credentials as West Ham fans last season, that privilege was downgraded to a pair of season tickets.

The families only learned that these too had been taken away when calling the club in early August to ask what the arrangements would be for the new season. "I fully appreciate the financial plight of the club and can understand the reasoning why the season tickets have been withdrawn," said Lyall's son, Murray. "But what I do find unacceptable is that no one in authority had the decency to contact us and explain in person."

Lyall's widow, Yvonne, added: "After my husband's 34 years' loyal service to the club in a playing, coaching and managerial capacity, I feel my family should have been shown greater respect and understanding given our tragic loss four years ago and the legacy he left behind."

It has "appalled" Amanda Jacks, a lifelong Hammers fan, who said: "West Ham trade as a family club but no supporter would treat their family this way. The strength of feeling from the West Ham support will only demonstrate what an ill-considered decision this is."

It riles me. And in the same year Gold & Sullivan chose to rename the Booby Moore Cup. Pretty sh*t really.

I'm remaining positive... thought Obinna, Jacobsen and Ben Haim all had good debuts, plus Dyer played well too. Our season starts Saturday lads - onwards and upwards!!!

Any of you Hammers fans know what Reid's situation is? Was he injured or simply left out all together?

It appears he was left out, but he did have a slight niggle before the international break so not entirely sure. Tal Ben Haim misses this weekends game against Stoke because of something on the jewish calendar and Danny Gabbidon picked up an inury a couple of weeks ago, so Reid might make the field (or at least the bench) this weekend.

From the Guardian

Avram Grant and Tal Ben Haim are set to be given permission to miss West Ham's Premier League game at Stoke so they can observe Yom Kippur. The manager Grant and his on-loan Portsmouth defender Ben Haim are expected to be absent at the Britannia Stadium for Saturday's bottom-of-the-table clash while they celebrate the Jewish holy day.

The Israeli pair are required to participate in 25 hours of fasting and prayer over the course of Friday and Saturday, during which time Grant's assistant Zeljko Petrovic is likely to take charge of team affairs. Grant observed Yom Kippur prior to his first match as Chelsea manager three years ago before flying by helicopter to Old Trafford for the game against Manchester United.

Ben Haim made his league debut for the Hammers in last weekend's 3-1 home defeat by his former club Chelsea, which left Grant's side still searching for their first point of the season. The defender could be replaced in the squad on Saturday by fellow new boy Winston Reid, who made his comeback from a torn buttock muscle in this afternoon's reserve team victory at Everton.

PLEASE GOD...NO... LET IT BE UNTRUE.....................

Now Kieron Dyer's missing from West Ham's trip to Stoke after row with absent Avram Grant
< ="http://s.dailymail.co.uk/js/diggthis.js" =text/>

By Matt Lawton
Last updated at 12:15 AM on 18th September 2010

The crisis at West Ham deepened last night after it emerged that Kieron Dyer did not travel to Stoke for todays crunch Barclays Premier League game after a row with boss Avram Grant.

Sportsmail understands that Dyer took exception after the Hammers manager suggested the injury troubled midfielder was only fit enough for a place on the bench.

It is believed the former England man responded by suggesting that if he was not fit enough to start the game then he was not fit enough to play at all.

Hammer and tongs: Neither West Ham manager Avram Grant (left) or Kieron Dyer will be at Stoke after reportedly falling out

Grant did travel with the team yesterday, but because he will be marking the Jewish festival of Yom Kippur he will not be present when his side, without a point in four games, kick-off at lunchtime.

Dyers latest clash is another twist in his troubled time at Upton Park since a 6million move from Newcastle in 2007, with his 60,000-a-week wages singled out by owner David Sullivan as an example of money wasted by the club.

Another Stoke out: Dyer in action for West Ham - which won't be the case at The Britania tomorrow

Parker ok? I thought he had anuncharacteristically poor game (despite the goal).

Hopefully Reid will take part in the league cup game against Sunderland tomorrow, but as has been said before theres plenty of competition for places and Avram won't take the game too lightly.

There was a Reserve game against Spurs played in the last 24 Hours, (we won 4-3 Sears hatrick). Havent been able to find the team details though.

I think we have to consider that this guy is in with some reasonable competition compared to other leagues around the world. Ok WHU aren't setting the world on fire but take the scenario that one of his team mates competing for the centre back spot is Jamie Tomkins who has been through the academy, represented England at most age group levels, been in the squad for a couple of years and is still not getting a regular run.
I still maintain that the best thing that could happen is for him to get loaned out to Derby or another Championship team and get some game time. Even Tevez took a while to settle into the premier league. uiron2010-09-23 19:19:13
