As it's Christmas

"Bring me Enner
in your smile,
Bring me Sakho
all the while,
In this world where we live there should be more Nobleness,
So much joy you can give to each brand new Andy Carroll,
Make me Cresswell through the years
never bring me any tears,
Let your arms be as warm as the Song from up above,
Bring me Chelsea, bring me Arsenal, bring me Third!"

This older commentator is hilarious. He's confused Koyaute with Valncia. Now he's confused Reid with Kouyate.

Edit: and the other commentator has given NZ a shout out and thanked us for staying up. Nice. West Ham goals please.

That was a lesson in champions league football right there. Squeezed out of midfield, bypassed the diamond formation with quick ball. Lucky to only go down by two...thanks to Adrian. Hazard man of the match; good referee to spot Chelsea diving! Onto to Arsenal at home Sunday. COYI.

The 21-year-old defender spent two spells on trial with West Ham last season when he is said to have impressed Sam Allardyce and is expected to complete a move to England imminently, according to Canadian sources.

just back from the game and buzzing - 10-9 on penalties with Adrian scoring the winning one. Joel Robles was time wasting continuously, wound up the Bobby Moore lower by larging it up in front of them when Everton equalised, and was generally a Twit through most of the time he was on the pitch so it was especially sweet to see him miss the 11th kick for them.

As a side note, the way I saw it was all 11 players took penalties for both sides, with Robles and Naismith missing for Everton, and Downing missing for West Ham. Sky news are saying the result was 9-8 on penalties, but surely it was 10-9? Or am I being mental?

Ahhh - just realised that Everton were down to 10 men, and Tompko didn't take one.

just done some research on this and learnt a new rule:

Adrian isn't going ahead of Tomkins, when it's 10 v 11 the team with 11 have to pick an outfield player not to take a penalty.

Never knew that, I guess it's to ensure one team's best penalty taker isn't taking it the same time as the other team's worst although would have thought that should just be tough luck for having someone sent off. Good to see Jenkinson smash his one in.

he looked real nervous standing in the centre circle as the penalties were all being scored, and I had very little faith in him when he went up to take his. Fair play to the lad, though, he fair smashed it into the roof of the net.

Joel immediately held up his hand apologizing after celebrating the equalizer, he wasn't actually trying to be a wind up, he was just going back to goal while celebrating and it looked bad. Still didnt stop us giving it to him for the rest of the game, especially when he missed his pen.

9-8 was right, everton missed second and 10th, west ham missed 5th.

First time to an FA cup game, think I picked a good one.

I did see him apologise, but frankly after all the timewasting (that was chronic) I was convinced he was a cod and was made up when he missed the penalty.

As (another) side note, why do refs hardly ever book goalkeepers for timewasting? All through extra time (especially when it was 1-2) he was taking forever to take goalkicks, and all the ref would do would be to signal to hurry up.  He eventually booked him about half way through the 2nd period of extra time, but if he had done that as soon as he started timewasting (immediately after the equaliser in normal time) I might have got home before midnight.  What also pisses me off (now I am off on one) is that for all the ref acknowledging the time wasting and holding his watch, they never put any actual extra time on to compensate. In the first period of extra time, Robles took nearly a minute each time he took a goal kick (4 times), with each one aknowledged by the ref. At the end of the period of extra time, there was one additional minute. It makes no fudgeing sense.

Watched the first 20 minutes so far against Hull. Long balls to Carroll and not so much ball pace and movement. Hope it gets better from here, cos so far it looks like you've forgotten how to play football again, and Carroll and Nolan starting...

Fat Sam will tell you it was his tactics that made the difference and that's partly true. First half players didn't get going and dropping Downing back into the front of the diamond plus some better performance from Song made the difference.

thinking very seriously about getting a season ticket for next season - the last at the Boleyn.  It is a fair bit of money (£925) which will be very frustrating if we revert to type and spend most of the year playing like we did on Saturday, but I think that I will go for it.

just got back from the game, and it was terrible (and cold - way colder than what I was dressed for). Sunderland are a fudgeing terrible team, and on the day we were not much better. Funniest part of the day was when Adam Johnson came out to warm up and the chant started "Adam Johnson, it's kids for a quid"

I have purchased a season ticket for next season - the last at the Boleyn.  Very, very excited. Really hoping we make a bold managerial appointment who gets us back to playing decent football. If that is not possible, appoint Di Canio and let's just have a season of madness.

Oh, and the way it is finishing, this season can just fudge off.
