Who do some of these players think they are? Gareth barry at Villa on wanting to join Liverpool.....'Have Villa offered me anything to try to persuade me my future is at Villa Park, not Anfield? Not a thing.' Obvioulsy he's too BIG for Villa - yeah right!

Then you have Emmanuel Adebayor at Arsenal.......'Yes, I am still under contract to Arsenal but it's up to the directors to satisfy my demands or I'll leave." - again too BIG for Arsenal? Some of these players have very high opinions of themselves or their value.

If you don't give me what I want, I'm going to throw my toys out of the cot and leave type attitudes. To me it reads like some of these pricks need to do a working mans job down a coal pit for a month or two. They might appreciate their over-inflated wages a bit more and the fan support they get in combination with their team. I appreciate football is a confidence game but there is a difference between confidence and arrogance.

I'm sick of reading about players holding clubs and fans to ransom. I think these palyers need a taste of reality.

If somebody was paying me 30/40/50/60... k plus per week to have a run around or two (or occasionally three) and spend some time training and the rest of my time being waited on hand and foot not to mention being treated as though I may in fact be the reincarnation of John Lennon/Mohammed/JC/Jimi Hendrix/Mary Poppins/John Bloggs (Joe's very famous eldest brother) or whoever... I'd be unlikely to keep much of a grip on reality either I wouldn't imagine

And yes LG, I do concur with your sentiment... though I have little belief anything will/can change...

people tried ranting about the money NBA players got, nothing changed, same with NFL, NHL, or infact any sport where a player in a good "team" suddenly thinks the sun shines out his lower half, and gets delusions of granduer, its not footballs fault, its the entire fucjked up human race thats to blame.

The reality is these players do this because they know they hold all 4 aces, plus the 2 jokers wild cards - they're excellent players, who can get big money from bigger clubs, and can make all sorts of threats until their future is sorted - eg. Gallas threatening to score an own goal unless transferred, etc.

It's deplorable, but realistically I could be called a prat for $80k a week.

The comments about it being a sad indictment of society are spot on. Society values its entertainers far higher than it values the people who actually hold it together. "Morally bankrupt" springs to mind.

No. People would just rather pay money to watch someone play sport, rather than watch Helen Clarke sitting at a desk scratching 'her' balls..

If someone offered you double the money to do your job at another company would you agitate for a move?  That's the way life goes, they are employees just the same as everyone else.

Both these players have offers on the table at least, unlike David Bentley who is agaitating for a move to a "top 4 side" even though none of the top 4 are interested in him
