So, who's the new coach going to be? I'd love to see Mourinho in charge myself, but if it's going to be an Englishman I can only really see Steve Coppell as a realistic option.
Unfortunately, there's no way the FA are going to be brave enough to appoint someone like Alan Shearer. They are too narrow minded for a left-field appointment, unlike the Dutch with van Basten or the Germans with Klinsmann, both of whom are having/had success .

Yeah but we also cannot afford not to qualify for the next world cup thats why they won't pick Shearer in case he does mess up. Its looking like Mourinho at the moment. I'm not fused if its not an Englishmen despite Wenger's sh*tstirring about how the coach must be homegrown. I agree that Coppell is now our only English man that would get a look in. I like him because he's quite reserved like the managers of old, but I've got no idea how he would do at this level as he can never keep his squad together. Mourinho although a rancid git if the press is to be believed is asking for the right things like demanding a decent youth set up and improved medical facilities.

Well Mourinho is out of contention now. It looks like Capello or Lippi to me, but I really would like to see someone like Coppell or even Martin O'Neill if they want to go British.
And I still say take a chance on Shearer with an experienced manager like, dare I say it, Harry Redknapp as his right hand man.

looks like you're on the money Orpewise, Soccernet has him as selected and pending successful negotiations the job is his

Capello's attitude to the team vs the stars sounds ideal for england at the moment

and glad it's him rather than Klinsman, I take the view of OZ on Aufweidersehen Pet when it comes to a German manager for the England team - I've met some really good folks from Germany over the years , but that just wouldn't feel right to me
