Why no Friday Night Games

I've always wondered why there are no Friday night games in the Premier League...

Anyone know why? In this day and age of Friday Night Football, Monday Night Football etc etc you;d think it would have been tried at some stage.

Is it to do with crowd problems? Too much of a boozed up crowd if games were say 8pm kick offs on a Friday.

Personally a 7am or 8 am game on a Sat morning would be great viewing.

They do it with lower league games i think, so that lower league games get higher attendances and don't have to compete with the traditional Saturday afternoon kick-offs in the Premiership.

Three for me, and two for them.

Its more to do with TV coverage. Viewer numbers are not good on friday nights and advertising revenue is reduced . same reason we dont have all black tests on Friday nights anymore, always on a saturday.

They tried for two years in 2002/03 and then again 2003/04 (I think those years are right), with one game on one weekend for a night. United drew 1-1 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the first one and the second one involved either Tottenham or Middlesbrough or perhaps both, I can't remember. Obviously it wasn't a great success cos they havn't tried it again.

A bit ironic actually the UEFA Super Cup between Man United and Zenit St Petersburg this weekend is Friday night European time, Saturday morning our time. Kick off at 6.30ish on ESPN

They got a pretty good audience in late May '89 for a Friday night at Anfield I seem to remember
