I travelled up to Wigan for our 3-1 defeat in October. To be honest, we should've lost by far more that day. It puzzles me how Wigan are so low down the table after watching them systematically play us off the park that day.

The opening day against Villa must be one of Wigan's high points this season?

Yes the villa game good point.

We have to be the most inconsistant team of the comp

beating aresnal last weekend after having a scoreless draw against portsmouth on the wednessday..

Its the story of the season.... the story of the club

we can compete against the top sides one week, and then lose to the bottom sides the next..

Erm maybe we (Spurs) can challenge you for most inconsistent.

Lost twice to Wolves, drew with Hull @ WHL, but knocked over pyul at the beginning of the season and the other london clubs this week, but lost to Pompey in the FA cup.

2 zip down and you beat the gunners - no easy achievement. Well done Wigan, glad you are out of the trouble. A breath of fresh air in the EPL. Now if only Burnley could get out of the drop!
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Looks suspiciously like a reserve team game to me, to be fair.

Wigan Latics stumpted to a 3-2 loss to West Ham away

after going up 1-0. we hit the break 2-1 and scored early to make it 2-2.

But we couldnt hold on and lost 3-2.

Wigan have also clinched safety for this season in the premier league, as Burnleys loss means they cannot be caught..

I love the latics

and with most players under 24 years of age it looks promising

Wigan scored an equiliser in the 90th for a 2-2 draw against Hull.
Which has confirmed Hulls relegation to the championship devision.

A good individual effort by victor moses go things flying, and steve gohuri scored a dadi-esk bycicle kick to level the scores..

It looks like wigan holds the future of the premeirship race in their hands, if we can again beat chelsea (3-1 earlier in the season) we can effectivley hand it to Man U.

As seen on the bbc website:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/w/wigan_athletic/8658671.stm

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has assured Manchester United his side will be no pushovers when they take on title-chasing Chelsea on Sunday.

The Latics stand between the Blues and the Premier League crown, with Chelsea a point ahead of United, who face Stoke and will be hoping Wigan draw or win.

"We will prepare in the best possible manner as we know it is a tough place to go," Martinez told BBC Sport.

"But I can guarantee everyone that we will give our best."

<!-- E SF -->

Wigan are safe from relegation ahead of the final fixture of the season.

However, victory could result in them moving up one place to 14th in the table, thereby earning an extra 750,000 in prize money from the Premier League.

Martinez's men are also looking to do the double over Chelsea, having beaten them 3-1 at the DW Stadium earlier in the season.

Wigan have also beaten Perennial strugglers Perennial strugglers Liverpool and Arsenal this term but have been dreadfully inconsistent, with defeats against the likes of West Ham, Portsmouth and Hull helping towards a season largely spent in the lower reaches of the table.

"We know that not many people will expect us to go there and get a result," conceded Martinez after seeing his side draw 2-2 with Hull on Monday.

"But this season we have shown that on our day we can go and get a result against anyone. We will enjoy the experience because for our young players it will be a unique moment.

"If we can do the double then that would be some achievement and I think the players are ready for that sort of challenge."

<!-- S I --><!-- E I -->

And United manager Sir Alex Ferguson hopes the Latics can pull off another big result and do his side a favour on Sunday.

"I wouldn't say it's a sealed result against Wigan by any shadow of a doubt," stated Ferguson.

"They're a good team, they'll have a go and you never know. It's a crazy game."

Chelsea have a significantly better goal difference than United, who are chasing their fourth successive league title.

Who's ready for another season of horrible football, lucky draws and historical losses.

I'm aiming for a final and a top 10 finish.

Hey who ever said one cannot dream...

THis is the life of a Wigan fan,

We loan goalkeepers and sign black (please ignore racism) defenders.. WHich results in a team that somehow stays in the topflight.... I cant wait for the season to start!!!

After their deserved win against United, this result does not surprise me.
Good on them and I just hope that they now avoid relegation.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
