Has anyone lost a bit of interest in this tournament now croatia and the netherlands are out?

maybe i'm the only one but i would've been much more excited about a germany vs croatia and netherlands vs spain semi finals now that russia and turkey are there i'm not so keen anymore.

russia played well and perhaps might actually produce a decent match against spain, they have a very good chance of beating them aswell but turkey have been horrible and they make a semi final. I wont be getting up early to watch the whole match just get up normal time in the morning which is half time and just watch the second half.

I'm not in the least bit sad to see Croatia go, and although the Netherlands have played some good football Russia outclassed them completely and deserved there semi-final spot.

Agree entirely.

Ironically, if World Champions Italy had got through - that might have made them less exciting!  Very dull to watch.

I know, I know, its serious!

No. They're making it more exciting. I love upsets.

Three for me, and two for them.

I think you need to look at these things in perspective.  Holland weren't a big name (in a World Cup history sense) in 1974 - we could be looking at the start of a new power with the potential of Russia being unleashed. I find that exciting.

I think the fact that the a mix of big traditional name (Germany), big name but perennial underachiever (Spain), potential new superpower (Russia), and straight-out tad-lucky outsider with moments of explosiveness (Turkey) makes it a pretty exciting mix.

Certainly a slightly more interesting mix than France/Italy/Germany/Portugal that made the World Cup in 2008, who would by your assessment be more "exciting".

Having said that, I would rather that Turkey not make the final.  But then I would say that given my slightly German heritage!

Not really.  It all goes on the team.  I honestly can't stand watching Italy play, and Portugal can be difficult to stomach as well.

I kind of see your point of view a dutch spain sem-final would be mouth-watering but really... Its still the semi-finals and im looking forward to watching.

I always like seeing the dark horses do well. Frankly, Euro is more exciting for Russia and Turkey going though. Albeit, I would have preferred Croatia over Turkey but hey...

I always cringe when i see people brutalise the language like that. And really whats the point, doesn't it actually take more time to deliberately misspell words that way? example "owt" on a standard qwerty keyboard, the "o" "u" & "t" are only 5 keys apart, yet the "w" is all the way over the other side. It just doesn't make sense.

back to the topic, I think having Russia and the Turks in the semis makes it even more exciting! The football has been awesome especially from the russians

This is very perceptive. Also saves me time since now I don't have to write anything lengthy.

Agreed, while I would be sad if ALL the big names were eliminated already, the mix of old and new right into the semis and perhaps even the final makes it more interesting not less.

Turkey v Germany is almost decided before the game kicks off because of all of the injuries so for that match I agree with you. Russia v Spain is going to be fan bloody tastic though (but Netherlands v Spain would've been better :( I can admit that they did outplay us and play good football though.)

The tournament has been a superb tournament.
Im pleased that attacking footballing philosophies have won through to the knockout stages of the tournament. Turkey should be an example to all other teams as they have changed their style on numerous occasions to get goals. Everyone should watch their 2nd half vs Czech Republic...pure all out attack...while the Czechs sat back and paid the price. Germany thouroughly deserved to beat Portugal as on the day they played remarkably well....while Portugal defended poorly. The most satisfying result for me was seeing the Spaniards get past the stifling Italians however.
Cant wait for the Semis and I dont mind at all who gets thru.
I would love a Russia v Turkey final though...being from Eastern Europe and all that!!!

Ban him,no warning.

I love the fact there are a few upsets about and they are doing it with much more entertainment and attacking play than the Greeks 4 years ago. I thought the way the Greeks and alot of the other teams played was hugely negative and was going to mean an end to attacking play at international level.
This Euro has thankfully proved me wrong. Cant wait for the Spain v Russia Semi, game of the tournament?

come on turkey vs germany is not exciting turkey played horribly against croatia and still won. Reminds me of the greeks last euro and they won the thing!

Lets hope for the good of football turkey get smashed.

by the way my original post says that i agree russia deserved to be there, infact because of the way they're playing and spains history i see them as favourites
