This thread is for any Atleti fans!! I'm guessing it's going to be a one-man thread but all the better. I'll try and keep it updated as we struggle through the undoubted emotional rollercoaster season. At the moment, we lie 18th, right in the relegation zone, although have been pretty unlucky not to have picked up a few more points. A ridiculous last minute penalty against Deportivo ensured we left there empty-handed. Despite some fierce protests too!

While the rest of the world watched Barcelona vs Real, I'll be deeply enthralled as the two "lesser" teams of the cities play. While the scum we share our town with travel to Barcelona, we welcome a mid-table and reasonably inconsistant Espanyol to Madrid in a late game which we really need to win to get back on course. Kun and Forlan will be key, but the defence will be under the most scrutiny. Despite several managers having been brought in and replaced, nobody seems to be able to sort out this defence.

But before this, we need to guarantee a place in the Europa League as well travelto Cyprus to face the side which held us at home in the opening game. It really is important that we qualify for this, otherwise it'll be harder to keep Kun- who will surely leave the club at some point soon- and co happy.

Vamos Atleti! Te quiero Atleti! ANTIMADRIDISTA.

. I have no idea why he is so loyal to our club! It isn't like he was born in Madrid or anything, and it isn't as if there are no clubs who want him who are "bigger" than Atletico. Top man though, but struggle to see us holding on to him. He'd be a fantastic signing for anybody; Inter, United, Chelsea... Seems he is always rumoured to go to Chelsea, though. He's be fantastic, especially with Drogba.

APOEL v Atleti. On now, if anyone is watching. 0-0 after 5 minutes. Great atmosphere!

Some absolutely awful defending.

Kun dances around three of them, but fires high from an angle which is far too tight.

APOEL break through, but a good recovery tackle covers the Atleti defence and corner is gathered at the second attempt by Asenjo.

Press press press. Atleti need to calm it down.

A superb move ends up at the feet of Forlan, who can only hit it at the keeper. Great move in the build up, let the ball do the talking and pass it round them.

Starting to get a foothold in the game. Santana has a hit from a long way out. Keeper parries it and regathers.

They're a top team! Not having the best of seasons so far! Yes, he certainly is. Surprisingly loyal to us too.

Cruel. They show the Madridista scum score on the stream I'm watching in a little box. I don't want to see that!

Awful play from Simao. Runs into about four of them at a good chance for a break.

Starting to play some good stuff. Perhaps a bit narrow, but we're looking likely. Knocking it around well.

APOEL have a poor boy down. We play on and they get all angry as Forlan shoots and wins a corner. He'll be okay! See Dani Alves last season...

Forlan with half the box to himself, but miskicks his volley and it is comfortable for the keeper. From the corner.

Kun getting pissed off. Another free kick conceded, Jurado, with a stupid tackle.

Too often trying to play through them. Finally get some width and a clever ball wins a corner. Which is wasted.

Aguero almost beats the entire defence. Denied by a brilliant tackle. Too many touches, perhaps, but he has every right to do that. Tracks back, wins the ball, and then a corner. Which is wasted.

Awful viewing. Can't keep the ball. Bring on halftime and Flores give them a f**king yelling to.

Halftime. 1-0. We were playing alright in the middle part; but the first 15 minutes, and the last 15 minutes were awful. Wake up, calm down, and score.

And we're underway. Straight onto the defence.

Simao starting to find some space... Just not looking clinical enough in the front third, surprisingly.

Kun down injured, I think.

They're talking about our "one good game this season"; a 6-0 win against a Segunda side. And our awful form in La Liga.

Some sleepy defending give APOEL a decent chance, but the defence tracks back well, forces him wide and wins the ball.

Nope. Following it live at Uni however. I see you are 1-0 down. Hard luck. I dunno what's going on at Atleti this season but f**k me it needs sorting quick.

Three for me, and two for them.

Did Simao or Forlan get the final touch? Finally, a bit of luck as the keeper parries it only as far as Simao who blasts it into the back of the net via a deflection from either Forlan or the defender. Yes, it is not good. We have a very young midfield, and are missing Banega, who we had on loan last season. And Maxi is not playing enough, but he is good. Resino was blaming the football Gods!
