Champions League draw

This morning's results:
Inter 0, United 0
Arse 1 (van Persie pen), Roma 0
Lyon 1 (typically STUNNING Juninho FK), Barca 1 (Henry header)
Atletico Madrid 2 (Rodriguez and Forlan), Porto 2 (Lisandro Lopez double)

A bit disapointed that both Man Utd and Porto drew matches they deserved to win, but the victories will come in the home legs. Barca were luckier, from what I heard they had a pretty shakey first half and so-so second one, but now Lyon have to visit the Nou Camp. Gutted that Arse were the only team to win...

Results from this morning:

Real Madrid 0 Liverpool 1

Chelsea 1 Juventus 0

Villarreal 1 Panathinaikos 1

Sporting Lisbon 0 Bayern Munich 5

So of the 8 ties, 7 are still very much alive. Should see some good games in the second leg matches.

f**king Drogba, Juve will get up for it at the Alpi though. Amazing how dominated Sporting were, but they are probably only the third best side in Portugal

LOL at Sporting Lesbian. How pathetic.

Three for me, and two for them.

Picks to advance:
4 English teams
Munich
Barca
Porto
Panathinaikos

If it pans out this way, hopefully Arsenal can miss an English team in the next round. I don't fancy a repeat of last year.

I agree with Arsenal with the exception of Inter going through.

United, Barca, Arse, Porto, Bayern, Juve, Liverpool and Pana to go through. Anyone know who plays who in the quarters?

I don't see Inter even scoring. Not to get complacent though...

Atleti will win in Portugal if they win the Madrid derby...

That makes sense...

They will struggle at the Drago, and if any of my teams go through, I want it to be them.

Bayern are ahead JUST. That Sporting dressing room after the match will be... "interesting".
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

I picked 7 out of 8 results, not bad.

I have a feeling Arsenal will draw Chelsea.

Here's hoping! That would be a great tie!

Atleti...gah, should have had a penalty. They defended alright though. Liverpool...were just awesome. Hammered them, smashed them. So glad Torres scored! Could be some good ties in the next round

What?

How does Arsenal not deserve to be there? They got more penalties in than their opponents. And they were not outplayed over two legs.

Arsenal are in the bottom two teams in the CL with the teams that are left and they are 5th in the PL = Don't deserve to be there.

Talk it up buddy. Our current league status has absolutely nothing to do with this year's Champions League (although I suspect we'll be back in the top four sooner rather than later) and anything can happen in a knockout tie.

Your reasoning makes no sense anyway, as even if you were right, which is something I doubt you're capable of, there still needs to be 8 teams in the quarter-finals.

Im predicting when the draw is made that 2 of the 1/4 finals will be all english affairs. UEFA are more than a bit dodgy and i wouldnt put it past them to engineer it that thier isnt an all english final. I know the draws are televised with balls coming out of a machine, but any organisation that awards Rome the CL final with a stadium in such poor repair and some of the worst fan violence in Europe is either dodgy, or a lunatic asylum, either way, Uefa are looking pretty suspect atm. (if you hadnt heard, an Arsenal supporters bus was attacked and a fan stabbedin the leg - uefas response - "It would be unsafe to host the CL final elsewhere -"welcome to rome - heres a map to all the local hospitals")

So nothing has changed since 1984. Well done knocking out Roma. Might make it slightly safer.

So if you bribed the ref and had 5 penalties given to you and the opposition had 3 guys red-carded you deserve to be there despite cheating? (Hypothetical situation)wellyphoenixfan2009-03-13 16:58:06
