Oskar Zawada (RKC Waalwijk | Netherlands)
Oh yeah, for all my lambasting it's me who started this one. To be fair I didn't think there would be much to debate, but 🤷
I would not make a link between what Zawada was saying and the question whether Poland is socially enlightened or not. I know nothing about his personal opinions on women's rights or even human rights in general.
As for Poland being "socially enlightened" - it certainly is not by our formal standards, and you will find a lot of patronising nonsense even in public life. Strangely enough, the 45 years of socialist rule made it in some ways miles ahead of New Zealand (for example, equal pay for men and women for the same work, or paid maternal leave for up to 2 years with an optional third year at half pay, etc).
In other areas It has become pretty bad under the current government (in office since 2015) that is trying to turn Poland into the closest thing to what Franco's Spain or Ireland under the Catholic Church rule have been (clawing back of the previously existing abortion rights etc).
At the same time , you would be surprised at the growing strength of their younger (and older) generation's support of women's rights to bodily autonomy, rights which have been trampled by the the powerful church lobby that has the gained the ear of the government for over ten years now.
I think a lot in NZ would be surprised at some of the social benefits and rights there are available in other countries.

And do not even get me started on the availability of (access to) modern fully funded cancer medication; or even just access to medical and affordable dental care. Sixty years later and I still have all my own teeth thanks to the "socialist" free dental care received as a young guy in Poland. End of OTT.
Someone should start a "it boggles my mind page!"
There is very little middle ground, or even agreed reality, anymore.
I agree with Doloras that political polarisation makes it hard to talk openly and exchange ideas with respect for others' views. To paraphrase The Orange One, "there are lots of good people on both sides" of the political spectrum even if we may think they are bonkers if they have opposite views from ours.
I used to think that the polarisation was a particularly USA phenomenon, due to their two-party system, but now came to accept that this is a modern societal phenomenon present in most parliamentary democracies with good access to the internet.
And the really horrible thing is both Left and Right will tell you that *they* are the victimised black people and *those guys over there* are the KKK itching to destroy them. All I can say is that the last time fascist ideas were so popular we needed a world war to sort it out.
We need aliens... that way we can finally come together as a human race and hate something else as one!!
I'm hoping the current trend of misinformation, us/them mentalities is a fad and that it will pass sooner rather than later. NZ gives me some hope otherwise I think individuals like Mr Tamaki and Mr Peters would be getting a bigger chunk of the election pie.
And to be honest I don’t mind my football with a mild sprinkling of politics, as long as we all pull together once things get going! And I think by nature those given more to opinionated statements are attracted to online forums, so it’s only natural we see those from time to time.
I think it’s not that we’re seeing more politics on here, but less of everything else- other sport, banter, controversy over Liverpool merch etc etc
…. at least in this thread....
He's probably hoping he has another blinder and his options open up next season for more money's.

Hopefully he’s back for the MacArthur game to get some fitness going into the finals
He alone could enforce differentiating between Zawada being re-signed vs resigned.

Maybe I should branch out and not just correct player names...

Will be good if we can get him some minutes these next two games without getting injured again so he can play a part in the finals. Don’t think he’ll be ready to start till the home semi
