Thank you Portugal for having solidarity with us and sharing our vision of our 2010 World Cup drawing all three games. Who needs wins, who needs losses?

Portugal could conceivably draw the next two games as well, win the shootouts, and then progress on penalties. How great (read: terrible) would that be. Although on form so far I suspect they'll get smashed by Croatia.

Yeah, Croatia's gonna take out that side of the bracket and make it to the final. That midfield is lethal. Unluckily for them Mandzukic has barely showed up to the tournament, but if he does they could take out the whole thing. I think Modric's injury isn't too bad and he'll be back soon. No chance for Portugal if you ask me, considering Nani has been their best player... Nani!

It will be interesting to see how Wales does too, they have a lot of potential to go very far as well. And then the Euros could be coming slightly west of home. The saltiness of England fans would be unprecedented!

Oh, well this has definitely jinxed us now. We've never actually scored against Portugal (though we've never played them in an important game before - or at least in a game which we took seriously).

Modric will play on Sunday, he was rested against Spain as a precaution - he would've played if it had been do or die. Kalinic was very good in the game against Spain, I'd play him from the start and leave Mandzukic on the bench (not sure that Cacic will do that though).

The other interesting thing will be to see if Vrsaljko stays at LB, or if Strinic comes back. Vrsaljko is a much better player (and a more attacking option), but left is the wrong side for him, and if Srna will continue playing like practically a winger, Cacic may go with a more defensive option.

I think we're slight favourites, but Ronaldo could cause us serious problems, especially if they can give him the ball high up the pitch.

Well done Ireland. Looking forward to a possible quarter final, how amazing would that be? Feel genuinely happy for the fellow home nations to get through even though they would all have wanted us to be knocked out. Where are Scotland?

The Icelandic commentary of their winning goal is possibly the best thing I've ever heard.

That Hendrick looks a good player for Ireland. Hadn't heard of him before this tournament and turns out he plays in the Championship. Could maybe get a Premier League move off the back of these performances. Could be a good player for someone like Crystal Palace or West Brom etc

be a bit like Paraguay at the 2011 Copa America, made the final without winning a game

Nice move from the keeper and apparently means he completed more dribbles (1) in the group stage than Fabrgeas and Lukaku among others, however that stat is defined.

I'm so angry right now. Iceland has to win this next game.

Sorry, you've lost me completely now. Who's "we"? Has Hudson taken the AWs all the way back where he came from?

Looks like Modric and Mandzukic are injury free. Croatia will win.

They have both been poor, as has pretty much everyone. Pepe has done well though and Rakitic looks like he could spark something. I think we have been slightly the better side since Sanches came on. Quaresma most likely to be the difference in ET I think.

Not a good watch.  very laboured play.  Seems more acceptable to lose on pens than during normal or ET

Shots on target after 120

Croatia 0 Portugal 2

This was almost as bad as watching the Brexit polls.

I thought Portugal had a massive 20% of the game and scored an u deserved winner. I hope they lose the semi. Once again Christiano has not shown up in an important game at the highest level. This would not be the first tournament that he has not shown up at.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

In contrast, I quite liked the Polish penalties. Brockie, take note.

Germany played excellent football this morning. Totally dominating Slovakia, they had one boring game vs Poland but they're able to fix that, thanks to self reflecting coach and team, Hudson are you reading? I think they will hard to beat by any team.

Just the goal by Eddie Hazard alone was worth the money - bloody excellent effort.

Belgium made Hungary look pedestrian, there was simply no answer from them in that 4:0 drubbing.

Hot take.....Belgium aren't that good and only get talked up because a large portion of their squad play in the EPL.

Happy for Jerome Boateng to finally score for the national team.
