Is there a poster or graphic produced by Sky TV that shows their schedule with NZT for kick-offs? I can't find one anywhere.
08 Nov 23:06
Not found anything yet (probably something will come out nearer the time), but if you download the FIFA+ app and go to match centre you can see the daily schedule with your local times.

"Honest" Sepp Blatter, the man behind Germany getting the 2004 WC & South Africa getting the 2010, has admitted "giving the WC to Qatar was a mistake."

I bet the big brown envelopes he collected on his various journie's was also a mistake and he'll give them back in due course...along with Platini.

I remember when he said that "I personally investigated the complaint about corruption within FIFA and found no evidence of any wrong doing". I nearly spilt my coffee over my keyboard when he said that.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Just a note, it may look unreadable in the browser when you open the link but if you download a copy of it, then it should appear fine!
I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

My copy of the Official FIFA Guide (128 pages) $NZ 24 incl. post from Australia arrived last week.
It seemed to arrive quick enough (eleven days) and well before the World Cup but Amazon Australia thought it arrived too late and automatically gave me a $A 5 voucher.
And the All Whites have made the World Cup (the FIFA guide at least) !
There's a whole page devoted to the All Whites.
(It was printed before the Inter-Continental Play-off in June)
The Socceroos only get half a page (shared with the UAE) since there were more teams in their play-off path.
The qualified teams get two pages each.
I'm still waiting for the "World Soccer Magazine Guide" after two weeks.
That was published more recently and will also be more detailed.

Any free-to-air highlights packages during the WC? Have googled it, but nothing pops up.

According to the TV guide there are 22 games that will be free to air on Prime including the semifinals and finals.
So out of the 32 teams - 26 of them will be live on Prime in the group stages.
Poland, Denmark, Spain and South Korea will each be shown twice in the group stages.
Here is the pic from the TV Guide of the games that are on Prime.

This WC has the potential to be one of worst in recent times.
Teams with little preparation try to manage their way through the first first games. Expecting to see a bunch of bang average low scoring games where team who are defensively sound grind out wins. Guess that goes give a chance for the odd upset.
15 Nov 20:37
My biggest hope as that things are not decided by ridiculous VAR decisions but you can pretty much guarantee the big moments will be.

NZ Herald had an article this morning along these lines - i.e. that this will be a poor world cup. Hopefully it's still fun to watch. Love the colour, so I hope the fans can still give us the joy of watching them, even if their life is made difficult by Qatar's laws and attitude.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

The new automatic offside technology is gonna be interesting to watch. Apparently it’s similar to how goal line tech works and will call offsides within 20sec of them happening.
Allegedly.

Crazy how short the build-up is. In 2010 the All Whites pre-WC camp started on May 19, for a campaign which started on June 14. Big difference in travel obviously, but hard to see how such a massive difference won’t have a big impact. In fact it wouldn’t surprise me if the All Whites didn’t score a single goal.

Hahaha. Those corrupt officials who sold their soul should foot the bill for the impending Bud law suit. I hope they sue for Gazillions. Qatar should never have gotten the gig.

I don’t believe those corrupt officials ever had a soul.
No one with a soul would sell football down the river like that.

Controversial opinion - Honestly, out of all the WCs we've missed out on since after 2010, Qatar is the only one I'm not bothered about us missing. Just an absolute shamble.

corruption coming to roost with Qatar making all the plays and FIFA just whimpering and agreeing to it??

Qatar is screwed now! You can commit all kinds of acts against 21st Western century morality, but to take away beer from our football! Sober people are too bored. They’ll realise football is mostly just some kids messing around in the playground and not something that should dominate adults’ lives.

The international community of footy drunkards will convene in thirsty outrage! Look at what prohibition achieved in the states! It’ll end the saloons, see the rise to prominence of the post office police and the sly grogger. Luckily the Norwegians won’t be there or they’d make their own near toxic strength spirits.

All the licensed hotels (assuming there are some) will be able to charge extortionate prices like $12 a can. There’ll be border runs and supply drops. Inflatable bladders, hip flasks and portaloos with a couple of slabs in them will be in vogue.

There’ll be no chanting sober! How will we learn about the lives of the Beckhams and John Terry?

Still Budweiser is fairly rubbish anyway.

Honestly I think the no beer in stadium rule will come back and bite them. Cue lots of pre-loading at fan zones and smuggling drinks around.

I mean the whole thing is just to show their power. They can tell FIFA where to get off. That’s what it has always been about right? I don’t imagine the policing of this will be any different.

20 Nov 20:29
Well unsurprisingly Qatar look to be one of the worst teams to play in a World Cup.  And that was against an opposition without many players playing in big league.  The physical difference an elite player has these days is probably too much for smaller countries to overcome.

Surprised the officials allowed the penalty to stand though given the earlier VAR call. Unsurprisingly it only took a few minutes for VAR to get involved.

I'll second that, hopefully MySky series record does its thing.  Did NZF send an email out to all youth players with that information?

And now FIFA have buckled and "Rainbow" coloured Captain arm bands being worn may result in the Captain should he wear one, getting booked for it. So 7 teams have decided not to. I'm surprised that they went ahead with their  kneeling before the game - England. Are other sides doing that??

Without consequences there's no bravery.

Honestly find it pretty poor from the countries - just agree that all 7 teams will boycott if another one gets a yellow card. Don't know why the teams are acting like they have no repercussions against FIFA.

Belgium team has ‘love’ on the inside neck of their away strip. Apparently it will only be used in the knock out stages. Fifa have banned it. The belgish have said they will see what happens when they need to use it.

Re: armbands, FIFA rules are quite clear.

FIFA Equipment Regulations 2022

{quote}
13.8.1 For FIFA Final Competitions, the captain of each Team must wear the
captain’s armband provided by FIFA. If FIFA provides a choice of captain’s
armbands, the captain should wear the one that contrasts most clearly
with the Sleeve on which it is worn.
{quote}

Even if it was not a finals competition ...
{quote}
13.8.2.3 must not include any Manufacturer Identifiers, Sponsor
Advertising or Decorative Elements;
13.8.2.4 may display the word “captain” (or an abbreviation or translation
thereof) in a legible font and with lettering no higher than 5cm.
{quote}

{quote}
10.3
A Decorative Element must not:
10.3.1 limit the ability of Match Officials, Players, Team Officials, media, and
spectators (including, whenever reasonably practicable, those with a
colour vision deficiency) to distinguish clearly between the Players and
the Match Officials, between the different Teams, and between the
goalkeepers and the Outfield Players on each Team, even in difficult
weather conditions;
10.3.2 undermine the contrast between a Team’s First-Choice Playing Kit and
any Alternative Playing Kit;
10.3.3 dominate a Playing Kit item or impair the predominance of a Dominant
Colour on a Playing Kit item;
10.3.4 impair the legibility of a Name or Number on a Playing Kit item;
10.3.5 function as a trademark or include anything that gives the visual
impression of a Manufacturer Identifier or Sponsor Advertising, or that
creates an association with a Manufacturer, a sponsor, or other third
party, or that constitutes a promotion or other commercial message of
any kind;
or
10.3.6 portray, or give the impression of, a person’s face or identity, or the
shape of a country or territory.
{quote}

FIFA goes to great lengths to ensure that kit, grounds, etc are to all extents neutral and free of political distraction, (and make sure their sponsors are rewarded).

They have rules in place and sometimes no matter how honourable you may view the breaking of the rule, to allow the rule to be broken can create a minefield
