Hope I'm wrong but I suspect we might've seen the last of the really huge upsets we've been enjoying. Japan/Croatia is no done deal but you'd expect the other lesser lights (USA, Aus, SK, Senegal, Morocco) to bow out.

Never know though, maybe this is the year for a truly left field final.

Brave effort Oztraylia. Yipe fortunate deflection with Goodwin's goal, but they had genuine chances to make it 2-2 with Behich (great run) and at the death Kuol.

Take away Ryan's howler and it could have been 1-1 end of the 97 mins.
Messi is still fantastic to watch. Looks like Cam Devlin was arranging a shirt swap post match?? One for the pool room at his parent's home.

Now a tasty 1978 final repeat.

Why couldn't Ryan have saved his colossal stuff up for some meaningless, mid-week league game?

Argies obviously had far too much quality but their energy saver mode almost got them into trouble at the death. If it had gone to ET/pens who knows what might've happened.

Should be a good quarter final between two teams with a lot of World Cup history with each other. Final, semi final, quarter final, the Bergkamp goal.

France dominate Poland,, I'd really love to see Senegal do the same to England (oit wont happen, but it'd make great viewing!)

Queenslander 3x a year.

Hilariously that Bellingham has had a great game after Southgate persisted with Mount for so long.

Still think that Kane is overrated (Senegal has made him look good allowing him to drop deep).

Class finish by Saka too.

Expected extra time but there have been no issues here. There's no way past France really but I guess no shame in going out to the defending champion and favourite. I guess you never know in a one off knockout game though. Mbappe might pull a hamstring or something.

How much are Man City going to pay for Bellingham?

Congratulations to Giroud on becoming France’s all time leading goalscorer in what is potentially his last ever WC. Henry would be proud but maybe a little pissed ha ha. :)

Would've had a brilliant second goal if the ref hadn't ridiculously blown his whistle just as he was overhead kicking it.

The "dreaded quarter final time" for England. Can they overcome their nemeses?
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Will be a tight QF but France probably edge it.

Three for me, and two for them.

Too hard to pick but I hope the French get dicked.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Well, Brazil vs SK is already wrapped up, Brazil are leading 4-0 and it's not even half time yet.

Shark! I don't like Brasil. I can't stand Neymar, the dancing the praying to god, everything about him triggers me.
Son ripped of his face mask, game on!

Brazil were bloody good. I think it's between them and France.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Hard to look past a France-Brazil final but the script must be for a Messi-Ronaldo one.
Sad for Japan. Those penalties were terrible. Just put your foot through it at least.

I'd like to give a big shout out to the South Korean goal in which any player would be proud to own - including the Brazilians. It was awesome.

Obviously Japan had more faith in their penalties than I did. Was disappointed they didn't try to up the tempo and win it in ET, but having said that Croatia controlled the game impressively pretty much from when Petkovic scored with that fantastic header.

A tough game for Croatia but one that might serve them better going into the quarter final than Brazil's exhibition match walkover.

Perisic scored the header.

Yikes. Yeh still 80 million plus eight voted for Bolsonaro. Same with Trump. Lot a people who dgaf.

Japan needed to get the ball to Mitoma more often. Only twice in the second half and extra time combined. And that was nearly a goal. Asano was ineffective as a target man. Couldn’t hold, win or distribute the ball and didn’t seem to have much change dribbling at his man. Good run to take defenders away from Mitoma though. Perhaps more time for Maeda would have been good.

They shouldn’t have left Perisic unmarked and they should have made better attempts to score down the straight. If you’ve hit a player in the form of his life get him the ball. Hope Minamino and Mitoma don’t become this cup’s Sancho and Rashford. The penalties were poor, but should’ve done it before then.

Bolsonaro is literally Brazil's Trump, the two of them are close allies. Bolsonaro's pulling a Trump and trying to make BS claims that Brazil's election was rigged without of course any evidence. What he's done to the Amazon during his time in office has made him 10 times worse than Trump.

Go on Morocco!

Three for me, and two for them.

Portugal up 2 against the Swiss without Ronaldo on the pitch

Queenslander 3x a year.

06 Dec 20:51
Ramos could easily become one of the best strikers in Europe and for country. He so far has 14 goals in 21 matches in all competitions for Benfica this season and after this performance, clubs will be begging for him in January.

He's also only 9 days younger than Waine.
06 Dec 21:35
So we can safely add Portugal to the list of teams that play considerably better without Ronaldo.

Three for me, and two for them.

06 Dec 22:27
Ahh Spain bottled it. Good job by Morocco who wanted it more and were more of a threat with less ball overall.

Wondering also what ever happened to just running in and taking a penalty with a bit of vigour? You've got 12 yards between the penalty spot and goal and you choose to jog in and hit a piss weak, soft cock effort right in to the arms of the keeper? You deserve to be on a plane home...👋

1000 passes to create 1 shot on target.

Wow.
