I hope Brazil get a Germany-level stuffing.
That is all.

Btw who knew we have an ex-Fluminense (10 years) striker living in Auckland, NZ. Alex Ribeiro. Looks about 40-ish. [pic plus mini interview in this a.m.'s Herald p A10. Says he's "seen some good talent" at the U-20's. But he's not going to the match; he will be watching "with a few mates" at the Empire Tavern!! #notatruefan
I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the African teams - the pace, skill and open style has been brilliant.
Having grown up watching the great Brazilian sides and genius players of the 60s and 70s they will always be a sentimental favourite.
Would love a Brazil v Mali final.
I think im on the Serbian band wagon.
Hehe, "semis"
Needs more viagra

Really looking forward to the Brazil v Senegal semi this afternoon here in Chch.
You can't miss there's a game on with banner ads on both sides of the Press homepage and another ad in the middle:

Local football reporter, young Brendon Egan has taken a bit of trouble to get exclusive interviews with some of the Brazil team (Guilherme, and Pereira of Man Utd). Brazilian legend Zito (1958 and 1962 World Cup winner with Pele) died last night so the Brazil team will be honouring him:

I was at Brazil's entertaining 3-0 win over North Korea in their last group game the other week in front of a noisy croud of more than 15,000 in Christchurch. Hundreds of Brazilians at that game with a whole section behind the goal in face paint and waving flags. It seemed like you were at a game in South America. My mate Kevin, a Kiwi who has lived in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, loved it.
There are more than 2000 Brazilians working in Queenstown and it seemed most traveled up for the game. A lot of Brazilian students and backpackers were there too from around NZ.
Apparently there are so many Brazilians living in Queenstown now that they have church services in Portuguese.
Love the croud shots in this video!
The goal by Jean Carlos of Real Madrid at 1.10 mins. is one of the best of the tournament so far:
Brazil v Nigeria earlier in the group stage a was a good one too. Goal by the Brazilian #8 Boschilia from 25 yards at 1.18 mins is one of the best of the tournament too:

I will pass. A mate has a ticket for me. Thanks
4 by half time... park the bus :-)
Holy shark. that was a demolition. on the pod, the lads talked about teams have got over their nerves in the round of 16 games and in the quarters. Brazil certainly have, but Senegal went the other way.
Come on Brazil v Mail final...
Gate was 9200
Good game but over as a contest inside 20 minutes
get in there! Lovely strike
Mali are playing just lovely lovely football. Hope they make the final.
Pretty good croud noise - been a long time since we've had one this noisey.
This is a cracking game
Well done both teams
Really hope Brasil smash these dirty Balkin cods
Mali were just plainly sublime with the ball - the skill level was top-shelf - how they didn't win I don't know but the Serbs came back well in extra time and ended up missing a few sitters. The final should be pretty interesting.

Well, English is my 2nd language (3rd to be precise if I count Russian) , and I need someone to explain to me what "Balkin" means.
I will assume it means "Balkan:" and that you refer to Serbia when you say that.
If so, why "dirty" ?
Where that hatred comes from ? Is it appropriate for this forum ? Admins ?
Anyhow, Serbia is in the final, I am happy and small losers like you cannot do anything about it.
Probably the best of the three knockout games at Harbour so far.
Mali played some superb football, their close control and dribbling skills are among the best i've seen at this tournament. Not to mention a cracking goal for the equaliser.
Serbia were pretty dogged, thought they were second best for good chunks of the game but found a way to hold on and pinch the winner in extra time. They could have won it with what would have been the goal of the tournament from the right back, very unlucky not to score with that brilliant volley midway through the second half. They were also far too wasteful in front of goal yet again.
I was really hoping for a Brazil-Mali final. Should be a great day out anyway as Senegal-Mali promises goals and well, a final's a final. Would prefer Brazil to win it from here though.
Mali were very good though as a team Serbia were probably slightly better.. hope that makes sense
I'm picking Germany to win on penalties
Best entertainment value $51.90 I've had for a long time. Kept thinking where in hell did these Mali guys learn their skills... in the desert? Timbuktu? Seems three of their best players are at Lille. But they still had to be damn good to get there too.
Oh well, looks like we've got a rising 10 yr old superstar on the way (see stuff latest on Travis, the Cambridge wunderkid). West Ham ... AC Milan .... Valencia all interested. Least that's one - if he lasts the distance.
I doubt there is another nation that can boast such seemingly effortless ball control.

Like Storm Roux at that age going off to Manchester United...
My semi was all over before I even knew it. 4 climactic goals in 20 minutes meant there wasn't much to play for in the rest of the match. Especially seeing as I bet on a shootout with the TAB.

it makes a lot of sense to me and I obviously agree with you.

Was wondering the same myself. How can you control the ball so well at that kind of pace !? Mali were just fantastic. But this group of Serbian youngsters is also quite special and while not as good (technically) as Mali, they were a more compact unit with enough technical ability to complement that and they got the result they wanted in the end.
Ive watched the games in Dunedin,
Serbia are a very well balanced team. They have probably three world class players in 1 RAJKOVIĆ (GK)(C), 20 SERGEJ, 11 ZIVKOVIC. The rest are very capable, fast and high work rates. Even their weaker players are contributing, 7 SAPONJIC, he is a goal poacher, not a contributor. They have a high level of confidence and belief in their team mates. Apart from Zivkovic's histronics they have been very calm.
Mali individually were the most athletic and skillfull players seen in Dunedin. They were big down the core, quick and skillfull out wide. The second goal against Mexico was one of the best goals in the tournament. If you were to pick a team from the very strong Dunedin Group, Mali would have been very dominate, probably 4/5 players, 3/4 from Serbia, 2/3 from Uruguay and 0/1 from Mexico. Sometimes in games you felt that they could have moved the ball quicker and give a simple pass. There did seem to be periods that they played and others when they went into a rest mode and sat back. Not sure if im right but it did seem that they became narrow and would work in areas rather than opening up, ie two or three working the left side.

Shark me... a spelling mistake... wow..
I guess rioting, racism and general violence is just a normal thing for serbian fans, so thats probably why you dont understand.
Remember Serbia vs NZ in Klagenfurt? haha. and that was relatively tame ...
Hold it up AJ13. Serb's U20 can hardly carry the can for previous Nationalist nonsense.
