I've got Nigeria v KoreaDPR followed by Hungary v Brazil on Thursday. Followed by any amount of Guinness in Peggy Gordons.

Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."

Oh dear... Brazil sacked their coach Alexandre Gallo on 10th May, days after he announced his squad for the tournament

Shame for the tournament when Brazil are in so much chaos.

Gallo was also Brazil's u-23 Olympic coach but was deeply unpopular with many fans and football officials.

The squad list had already been sent to FIFA so there were no changes to it despite the coaching staff being gone.

http://www.worldsoccer.com/features/under-20-world...

"Brazil, traditionally one of the favourites ahead of the Under-20 World Cup, will go into the 2015 tournament in New Zealand without coach Alexandre Gallo, who was sacked following a poor fourth place at the South American Under-20 Championship in Uruguay. He had also been due to take charge of next year’s Olympic team and that responsibility will now fall to Brazil’s senior coach, Dunga.

Gallo had made drastic changes to the squad that will now travel to New Zealand under his replacement Rogerio Micale. His list of 26 players included just nine of the players who went to Uruguay in January.

There was no place for Atletico Paranaense’s Chelsea-bound midfielder Nathan, who did well at under-17 level but badly in Uruguay. Much more surprising was the absence of Fluminense’s Gerson, a left-footed midfielder of undoubted pedigree. His exclusion may have been the final straw for new federation boss Marco Polo Del Nero, and the news of Gallo’s sacking was announced at a strange time – late on Friday night, where it was “buried” by the start of the Brazilian championship."

"Brazil FA sack U20 coach Gallo after the same man announced the squad for the upcoming U20 World Cup. Sounds very weird."

What a fantastic game! 4-2 to Brasil. and what a awesome turn out from the croud - looked like both stands where almost full with the sides had a few people scattered around. What pissed me off is I turned into Radio Sport and 2 cricket journo's said the crouds have been really poor! what a bunch of crap and I made it known to them on there facebook page.

I was impressed by both games today. The first one moreso but still.

End of an era.  Vinnie - It's over.

If anyone cares for my inane babbling follow @iluvnix17 on the Twitter.

Pffft, you were just impressed by the left back for Hungary.

Awesome day of football though, well worth making the trip up the country for.

Yellow Fever - Misery loves company

01 Jun 06:56

that was fun. Seen a lot of goals so far: 18 goals in the 4 games I've seen

Allegedly

01 Jun 07:43

People of New Plymouth can hold your heads high as both games got a really good decent croud. They have embraced this world cup - only day 2.

Amazing two games to watch live. Nigeria have some giants in their squad

02 Jun 04:55

Also just have to put a shout out for a rectangle stadium, MILES better.

So Hungary vs Nigeria basically a sudden death. That'll be a great game.

04 Jun 16:55

both should go through with a draw.

E's Flat Ah's Flat Too

Real shame Hungary went down a man so early. They gave Brazil a battle even with 10. Brazil so slick but still a bit disappointing for me. Maybe too cold to turn on the flair, or more like they knew they had a job to do.

Man it was COLD!

Nice stadium though.

Interesting that Colombia seem to have a bigger and more enthusiastic following here in NZ than Brazil. Wonder why?

Hungary should kick their captain for that. That was just an absolute team killer.

Grumpy old bastard alert

07 Jun 06:36

Brazil leading Korea drp 2 nil and Nigeria leading Hungary 2 nil.

07 Jun 06:55

and that's it for the group matches
