Who are the big names, the ones we should be telling all our non footblling friends abut?

Have you heard Alex Rufer is Wynton's nephew?

You know we belong together...

Simone Jr been scorng for fun for Argentina.

Angel Correa - best player in CONMEBOL qualifying for Argentina. Davie Selke of Germany - top scorer in Uefa qualifying and regular at Werder Bremen. Kelechi Iheanacho of Nigeria - their star player from Man City. Clifford Oboakye of Ghana who got bronze ball at 2013 U20 WC. They're a few worth mentioning anyway

Should be Clifford Aboagye actually. Also Andreas Pereira for Brazil who's played a few games for the Man U first team. Shame some of the best U20 players won't be here as they've played in their senior sides already such as Jose Giminez (URG), Max Meyer and Leon Goretzka (GER) and Julian Green (USA)

No rule against that? We've got players in our U20 squad that have played for the Senior All White team. Tuiloma, Wynn + others.

No you're absolutely right, no rules against it. It's obviously a decision by the national federations to not put players back down to the U20s. These guys are playing at a high level for clubs too (in general) so may struggle to get released.

They are putting a different stand-out player from every side on the official tournament Facebook page every day:

https://www.facebook.com/fifau20worldcup

Certainly one of the youngest stars is Ismael Diaz of Panama who is still only 17 and has played twice for the Panama national team already (turns 18 next week)

Four goals in the CONCACAF Finals in qualifying. Panama were undefeated in open play in the Finals (lost on pens to Mexico)

Tournament Best XI striker (one of five Panama players in the tournament XI)

Argentina stars:

This is an interesting selection in Argentina's training squad announced last week:

Emiliano Buendia (Getafe, Spain): striker http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emiliano_Buend%C3%ADa

One of those funny ones where he's already played three games for Spain u-19 - but only in friendlies last year.

Seems he's now switching back to the land of his birth.

Six appearances in la Liga this season for Getafe and five in the Copa del Rey:

http://int.soccerway.com/players/emiliano-buendia/...

All his la Liga appearances from Feb. 1 onwards.

Came on last weekend as a 77 min. sub vs. Granada

26 reserve appearances.

Maximiliano Rolón (Barcelona): striker http://translate.google.co.nz/translate?hl=en&sl=e...

Angel Correa (Atletico Madrid): striker http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%81ngel_Correa Helped San Lorenzo win the 2014 Copa Libertadores

Cristian Pavon (Boca Juniors): striker  http://translate.google.co.nz/translate?hl=en&sl=e...

Giovanni Simeone (River Plate): striker http://translate.google.co.nz/translate?hl=en&sl=e... Diego Simeone's goal-scoring son

Tiago Casasola (Fulham): defender  http://fulham.wikia.com/wiki/Tiago_Casasola signed for 880,000 pounds last year aged 19.

Max Meyer is in the German u-21 squad that has been playing friendlies recently (he played against England u-21 on March 31) and will probably make the final selection for the UEFA u-21 Finals in the Czech Republic in June.

u-21 is considered the more important age category in Europe.

Meyer is eligible for the u-20's but they prefer him to strengthen their u-21 side.

The only other German player eligible for the u-20's but instead being selected for the u-21's is Arsenal's Serge Gnabry.

It's a real shame arguably the two best German players in the u-20 age group won't be coming here.

Unfortunately, the UEFA u-21 Finals will take TV viewers away from our u-20 tournament in NZ because it starts in mid-June during the later stages of our tournament.

Julian Green's case is different:

He's not eligible to play for the USA at youth level because he's already played in competitive matches for Germany at youth level including featuring in the qualifying round of the 2014 UEFA u-19 Finals.

FIFA doesn't allow players to represent more than one country at youth level in competitive matches (friendlies are fine).

He was able to switch to playing for the USA at senior level because he was born there and hadn't played for Germany at senior level in a competitive match.

Knowledge. Wasn't aware of the Julian Green situation. I imagine that might be the same for Arsenals Gedion Zelalem who has switched to USA but has also played youth level for Germany
08 May 05:31
Well, appears that Zelalem will be in the USA squad provided his citizenship gets sorted within the next week or two!

Brazil Stars:

Seleção Brasileira @BrazilStatsApr 29

The biggest upset is the exclusion of Gérson. He's probably Brazil U20's best player. Has been impressive for Fluminense in 2015 even in big games.

[Note: apparently Gérson doesn't get on with Brazil u-20 coach Gallo]

26 man provisional training squad named 29 April:

Jean Carlos - Real Madridhttp://www.realmadrid.com/en/football/academy/unde...

Alef - Marseilles: Bill Tuiloma's team mate, plays pretty much the same position:

Jesus is coming: Gabriel Fernando de Jesus: up-and-coming Palmeiras striker turned 18 last month

http://translate.google.co.nz/translate?hl=en&sl=p...

Caio Rangel - Cagliari, Serie A: 19 year-old striker in his first season in Serie A and already in Cagliari's first team  - six apps this season: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caio_Rangel

Danilo - Sporting Braga (Portugal): defensive midfielder who scores some cracking goals (see YouTube) signed for 4.5 million Euros last July. 21 apps for Braga this season.

Seleção Brasileira @BrazilStats  May 1

Van Gaal: "I believe in Andreas Pereira. I want to develop him into an important first team player at Man United."

Seleção Brasileira @BrazilStatsApr 30

Cagliari (Italy) striker Caio Rangel says his mom informed him about the call-up while he was at a mall, he started crying.

Did they? Aren't they in different confederations?

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.
