weird. 33k was the sold out NZ game vs Phillipines.
and there were big chunks of yellow at that game too.

Must be people bought tickets and couldn't get time off work.  Maybe it's tickets that sponsors get or something because before kick-off there were decent blocks of yellow in this and the Phillipines game.

Stadium capacity is 36k, I had assumed there were blocks unused due to FIFA requirements, thes ections not used were around the TV camera on halfway and the dugouts over the other side. that explains maybe why the sold out capacicy was 33k but I dont understand how it drops to 27k and "sold out"

27k was the attendance.  So that means 6k didn't turn up right?

yeah, 27k tickets were scanned at the gate - I assume is what that figure means, there could easily have been another 5-6k sold but didnt attend for some reason.

FIFA has shot themselves in the foot a bit limiting tickets to only be passed on through the resale process. You've sold the event out already - let people give their mates a ticket.

I assume sold out events is the reason for it.  Stops scalpers nabbing a few thousand and selling $40 tickets for hundreds.  Also you can send them to your friends cant you?

Agreed, USA played far too deep in the first half and gave the Netherlands too much space. USA corrected this in the second half and dominated possession.
However, when Netherlands got forward, they did look dangerous. A very good game.

Just got back from the Portugal vs Vietnam game. Portugal should of have 10. But combo of poor finishing and great keeping kept the score low.
Crowd was awesome. Viet fans cheering almost all game.
Only 6600ish supporters in, but that didn’t include the number in seccys and fifa accredited peeps. Shark there was millions of them about.

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

USA v Portugal.
Should be a routine win for the USA.
But Portugal are no easy beats. Imagine the ramifications if there was an upset in this one !!!!!!!!

USA are garbage. Portugal almost won, hit the post in the dying minutes.

USA far from convincing. I reckon they'll get eliminated by Sweden in the next round.

The fire alarm made things interesting at USA-Portugal.  Surprised the second half was allowed to start with the fire alarms still going and some spectators having evacuated outside the ground.

It would not surprise if there was more to come over that.

Love it. A good game that saw the USA saved by the post. Brilliant crowd turnout.

I suspect the remaining are travel packages that didn't sell. Seems around 4k tickets were released on the re-sale site the day before the game, which is annoying because if you gave it a few more days and some publicity I'm sure those would have been snapped up by locals.
