Team Weaknesses

Now I admit that some of these may look strange, but I have evaluated the teams based on their positioning against the rest of the teams in the league, so taking the starting QB for each team and evaluate them against each other using a combo of DLF Avg Draft Position, and the "value" from Dynasty Trade Calculator, so while this may show a weakness long term, short term this could be a strength (See first team listed)

Nialls Paul - Starting QB => With Drew Brees backed up by Matt Stafford, this team is behind the 8-ball in getting a starter for the future, this being their big weakness is more due to the strength of their team. This is the only position in a line-up where they have a below average player.

Suspension FC - Tight Ends => With Austin Hooper & Vance McDonald this team is weak at Tight End, if Hooper develops this could turn around fairly quickly, but if not this could turn into a black hole.

Rammtallica - Starting QB => Dak Prescott & Big Ben, this is again due to the fact of being a very strong team in general and neither of these guys being a top 5-6 Dynasty QB (Luck, Rodgers, Wilson, Newton, Carr), Thing here is that this team has a solid vet in Big Ben, and a great young prospect in Dak, cannot say that is weak, but Dak does only have one year on record (see: Robert Griffin), If Dak repeats this year then this concern is gone completely.

Gallia Boars - Flex Positions =>  After a starting line-up of Wilson, Miller, COleman, Evans, Julio, Cooper & Eifert this team starts to fall off quickly as Duke Johnson, Kenny Stills really don't stand up to the other players the league have starting at FLEX, is an easy fix with any number of TE/WR/RB options available, definitely something to work on though.

Seanucks - Running Backs => With Mark Ingram, Jerick McKinnon, and Mike Gillislee as the best three RBs in the squad there is a definite need to fix the position, something that the Nucks will need to work on, all of their RBs are below the league average for their position.

Calrissians - Back-up RBs => A solid starter in the position with LeSean McCoy, but behind that Thomas Rawls & Charles Sims have had terrible offseasons for their chances as great RBs come apart with Eddie Lacy signing in Seattle and Buccs being rumoured to take a back in the draft

Rodriguez - Tight Ends => The rest of the team isn't horrible, but their TEs are atrocious with Antonio Gates & Richard Rodgers being the worst rostered TEs in the entire league.

Yakcalls - Tight Ends => I had a tough decision here, Yakcall has issues at other positions as well with a lot of young depth, but not much in the way of starters, but their TEs stand out to me with Jack Doyle & Maxx Williams sitting back a bit from where they need to be, improvement needed.

Fairfield Fairies - Running Backs => With Spencer Ware & Chris Ivory as starters this is a position that needs work, back-up is Ryan Mathews who I believe is still without a job as well. The Fairies starting WRs are a bit weak as well, but they do have some Draft picks to work with here.

London Hammers - Starting QB => With Carson Wentz & Joe Flacco as options the situation is similar to Rammtallica at QB, but a slight downgrade, if Wentz develops this will become a strength, other issue for the team would be their slightly below average WRs, this was improved through the recent trade giving up Cooper that saw them get 3 solid starters instead of 1 great starter though.

Mos Eisley Troopers - Flex Positions => I was looking at QB as a weakness here, but it turns out Depth is a bigger issue, after the starters the flex positions here run into issues with Danny Woodhead or Tedd Ginn needing to fill the flex spot, both are well below average compared to the rest of the league for this role.

Now while these are weaknesses I still wouldn't suggest drafting anything but WR/RB in the 1st round of the rookie draft, TE class is pretty deep this year, BUT they take a while to develop so might be better to try and trade for a TE or QB this season than try to draft one.

nobody weak at WR?

Allegedly

Oh teams are, but overall closer to the average than at other positions which is what I based this on. Part of that might also be that teams have one WR that fits in their slot, eg a great WR1, or a Good WR2, or a average WR3 which makes overall the WR position look better for them, whereas at other positions they have a lot less.

As someone who no longer has a first round pick, I think those that do should really focus on the great crop of QB's & Kickers coming through this year.

Bahahaha Of course you do...I think they should all go between pick #4 & pick 40 or so...

Adrian Peterson (RMTC) signs with New Orleans Saints...absolutely destroying Mark Ingram (NUCK)'s value until Week 3 when he blows out his knee...

Point to note, in Week 1 he travels to Minnesota with the Saints, he only needs 42yds to pass his career total at US Bank Stadium which has been open for a whole season already.

24 Apr 20:04

Mike Gillislee (NUCK) has now officially signed with the Patriots following a Restricted FA offer, the Bills receive the Patriots 5th round draft pick this year.

Should help Jonathan Williams (RMTC) in Buffalo as he becomes the #2 behind LeSean McCoy, and now who knows what happens in New England as they now have Gillislee, James White (GAUL), Rex Burkhead (AY) & Dion Lewis (NP) (Also James Develin, DJ.Foster & Glenn Gronkowski) under contract. I'd guess that White is the receiving back, Burkhead & Gillislee take some combo of the Blount role, Develin used as a Fullback & DJ Foster as the change of pace back, I expect Dion Lewis to be the odd man out and be released before start of season.

24 Apr 20:22

Tough morning for NUCK.  Just waiting on the news that Sammy Watkins needs another surgery and will be out for the year.

If anyone is interested in AP, let me know.  Given his age, I won't necessarily be holding out for much.

24 Apr 21:53

crikey, when my RB stocks couldn't look much worse, another full kick to my large crotch!

Hopefully buffalo draft an RB early just to ensure the Billikid's Williams rides the pine all season...

24 Apr 22:19

I'm sure Buffalo know that they have an emerging superstar in Williams and I'm looking forward to him rushing for 1,000 yards after McCoy inevitably gets injured.

24 Apr 23:09

a superstar at the buffet...

I'm expecting them to draft one in the 3rd Round, Kamara etc should be around then (Kareem Hunt etc), will be open competiton to be the back-up

25 Apr 23:20

Not sure about you guys, but my Fantasy Football teams have disappeared off the ESPN website.  Not sure if there is a way to bring them back?

I think this has happened due to their Maintenance that happens this week, on Weekend I noticed it showed the "We aim to bring it back asap" etc, but I am guessing something they did removed teams, at this point don't look to "exist" but I'd assume that just means they have made them "private" until the update is done...

26 Apr 07:06

Yeah my team is gone too,

Hey Jono, if you have to put the teams back together manually, I'm pretty sure I had just traded for Bell, DJ, Elliot, Green, Brown, OBJ, Evans and Gronk.

26 Apr 17:38

Marshawn Lynch (AY) signs with Oakland, which pushes down D.Washington (NP) & Jalen Richard (MET) in starting RB ranks as well.

So with these signings I am wondering whether it changes anything in the RB Draft market.

San Fran (Aren't sold on Hyde), Carolina (Replacement for Stewed Beef), Indy (Replacing Gore), Jacksonville (Yeldon & Ivory looked bad), Minnesota (Have Murray+ McKinnon, but looking for another), Jets (Forte replacement), Buffalo (Replace JWilly), Giants (I don't get why they need another back, but there it is), Philly (Well unless they believe in Smallwood),  Buccs (With Martin suspension).

27 Apr 20:44

I'llbe covering the draft once it kicks off over in the Rookie Draft thread....

28 Apr 18:06 · edited 28 Apr 18:09 · History

Following the drafting of Njoku the Browns have informed Gary Barnidge (LCAL) that he will be released

Matt Jones (Usos) is on the trade black for the Redskins

30 Apr 16:38

And the Bills have fired their entire scouting dept...this after it came out that the coaching team were in charge of picking players at the draft.

30 Apr 17:35

Important Post...I'm still concerned about Week 17 affecting teams in the final playoffs, we had a discussion about 1 week playoffs which got rejected by a large number, so I had another thought.

As we are going to a single 12 team division, everyone plays everyone once at least, we could go to a 12 week Reg Season with Semis Week 13-14 & Finals Week 15-16, this way we lose Wk 17, but also keep 2 wk playoffs.

Options

A) 13 Week Reg season, Playoffs 14/15 & 16/17

B) 12 Week Reg season, Playoffs 13/14 & 15/16

30 Apr 21:27

Yep that sounds like a good result - option B for me.

Quick query - is their an embargo on picking up free agents now until the end of the rookie draft?

30 Apr 21:30

Thanks Jono, personally, just because I I'd always rather have more FF than less (even with the peculiarities that week 17 offers) I'd opt for the 13week current arrangement. But happy to go with the majority

30 Apr 21:39

You can pick up anyone EXCEPT for the rookies (All rookies, Drafted or Undrafted) are untouchable til after the draft, believe you can add others

30 Apr 22:35

I'd go B, as week 17 is so unpredictable with teams already qualid

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Good to see the coaching team did their job and kept Jonathan Williams as the back-up to McCoy.   Special shout-out to the Saints & Vikings who realised they were going nowhere with the inferior talent of Ingram and McKinnon.

Think Cook & McKinnon can work together as a good 1, 2 punch, with Laxatives Murray covering until such time as Cook is ready for Blocking as well (He needs to learn pass blocking haha)

As for New Orleans I just have no idea what they are doing, they add Adrian peterson, and then add Alvin Kamara in the draft, just seems like more stupidity from them focussing on areas they don't need help (Ingram isn't great, but he is serviceable, is kinda like them taking Michael Thomas last year when they already had Cooks, same job, similar players)

Though of course a lot of this is forced on them by their stupid salary cap situation which is absolutely killed by the tupid Brees contract, and the dead money from big contracts they had to dump (Think that improves slightly this year, but they still have no money to re-sign their own players...)

01 May 04:31

what a great draft...

Really need the Saints to trade Ingram (I've heard the Bills could use a solid backup, i/o that fatso Williams). Going to need a pile of timely injuries for my roster of 2nd and 3rd string RBs to have a shot* this coming season.

I'm pretty sure that's because GB are making room for Ingram

I heard Dallas was signing him for 3rd down work.

The Bills will decline Sammy Watkins' fifth-year team option for 2018.

Unbelievable. This is perhaps the only thing that could have made the Bills' trade up in the 2014 draft even more disastrous. The Bills are clearly petrified of Watkins suffering another injury and guaranteeing himself a massive payday for 2018 — option years are guaranteed for injury only — but they've backed themselves into a corner if Watkins has a monster 2017, something certainly not outside the realm of possibility for a massively-talented wideout who has yet to turn 24. The franchise tag costs more than the option. In a league placing an ever-increasing premium on high-end receiving talent, the Bills are playing fire with theirs. The Bills maybe shouldn't be letting someone who was a defensive coordinator just five months ago run their front office.

02 May 21:58

Given the Bills luck, this almost guarantees Watkins pulling in 1800y/15TDs  woop woop

02 May 22:05

Either way might be good news for you Deeks.  Sammy effectively has one year less on that contract which means he could go elsewhere and maybe get an upgrade at QB throwing to him.

02 May 22:06

Jamaal Charles (RMTC) has signed a 1yr deal with the Broncos...

Think this hurts CJ Anderson (SWRL) the most, but it does say they also don't have faith in Devontae Booker (DRUG) to do the job either.

02 May 22:07

Yep just saw that Charles news.

If anyone is looking for some RB depth, I have AP and Charles who are old but may do a job.

Contract Year and all that, is probably best for Sammy's fantasy situation as it has a few possible outcomes:

1) He blows up and gets franchise tagged (Big season is good for you)

2) He blows up and signs elsewhere (Big season, and hoghly likely better QB)

3) He plays poorly and signs elsewhere (Better QB)

4) He gets injured and is out of league

5) He plays poorly and signs with Browns

At this point I need to see out Training Camp as that will decide the situation for all of my RBs as they go into the season, I have a bunch of question marks on what happens after Miller...
