Fantasy Football League (NFL)

This League is up and running for the 2014 season as a Dynasty League, everybody gets to keep all their playuers each season. We have the capability for expansion for the 2015 season. If you have any questions about the league then post here and I will do my best to answer them. Will try and update this post with more information on the league as we go.

Surely more people interested than this, you don't need any knowledge, I know a lot of those who have joined already are lacking in that :P

I'm keen! I feel like I know more about college than NFL, but I'll give it a go... Now if only you could explain the difference between Dynasty League and redraft league?

A dynasty league involves drafting your team now, and that becomes your squad through into the future, so you improve it by trading with other teams (Including draft picks etc), or through the yearly rookie draft where teams draft new rookies.

A Redraft league means you lose all your players at the end of each season and draft a new team each season (This probably makes more sense in this case as most teams will not have too much NFL knowledge).

Like the idea of building a team year after year. Don't know how we'd go at sustaining numbers though, and how about new teams that join say next year, is there a draft for them from a free agent pool from other teams that may have dropped out?

Or I could be way off the mark and looking like an idiot, in which case ignore me :p

If we got a new team, they could either take over a current team, or we could have an expansion draft. Where you can each protect a few players and then they pick whoever they want of who is left or similar.

Now that the World Cup is over and Germany have won, maybe some more people might be interested in this other type of Football :)

would the divisions mix up every year? 

Also, I notice that when I posted on the message board that it has my dads name as the poster. Very odd.

We could either change the divisions or keep them the same (Build division rivals)

I think with a 50-50 chance of being in someone's division, there are few enough teams that you can develop and keep rivalries if divisions were mixed each year.  

And nah don't think he has. No idea how that happened!

We need to start this all moving now. Given the response here has been "I'm not concerned either way" or "Dynasty" we'll go with a dynasty league. 

I'll start putting together an email out to the league asking a few more questions, Still have 3-4 gaps in the league, so if anyone has a friend who wants to join then hit me up, or get them to contact me on twitter or here.

Just emailed this out to everyone, if we can't find other YFever members anyone will do, preferably someone on NZ time as given our likely draft time it'll be tough anywhere except NZ/Aus.

Hello again guys.

So we seem to have 7 teams ready to fill. I would like to get 10 teams, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen, so I have a couple of options for how to get the teams filled.

1) I advertise on my twitter for 3 more teams to fill the league (I have a LOT of NFL followers from the states, so these guys would have experience)

2) I add myself as manager of another team (Fills out the 8, and I'll draft that team for this year and chase a new owner)

3) I keep trying hard to find that 8th manager, this is going to be tough, but I might be able to force someone into it.

just go with 8 I guess. Wouldn't want random pros dominating a dynasty for years to come. Not too fussed though, just seems easier to have 8 for now - can always add teams later

Going with 8, have cut the # of teams and added myself as the 8th team for now (Because some league options disabled til league is filled. N-Bomb is trying to get an 8th member for us.

We'll work out a system for expansion if a new team wants to join in the future.

Cool, cheers.  All joined up.  I've played fantasy baseball for the past two years (on yahoo), but never football, so I'll likely be crap the first season.

Grrrrivals in TM and fantasy NFL.

Grrrivals - you often get the better of me in TM so will have to pay special attention in our head to head weeks.

Haha classic Rivalry building already. Well we should have our 8 teams filled now, though waiting for N-Bomb to join his team :P 

I have updated the main page with what should be the finalised settings for the league, also an idea of how to run an expansion draft if we require it in future seasons.

This seasons draft will be a snake draft with a completely random order organised the hour before the draft by ESPN so that no one can claim I rigged anything. It will take place at 7:30pm on Saturday 16th August (I'll check this), and the draft room should be available 1hr before it kicks off, I will aim to be in there at 6:30pm if anyone wants to jump in and chat or ask any questions.

I will also try to do weekly updates of the league via email, and in this thread (Will be the same post in both), hopefully that will help to build some more interest in the community as well, and possibly breed more teams.
