FM Genius Scouting - is it cheating?

I haven't played since the old Champ Man days (before the split).  Thinking of getting back into it and my mate told me about genius scouting.

What are people's views, is it cheating?  From the sounds of things to me it 100% is, but it seems popular (probably because it's helpful).

Thoughts?  Opinions?  I'm about to start a new game and tring to decide whether to use it or not.  Definitely leaning towards no at this stage...

I don't use it as I would rather go scout and find my own players, but I think it's up to the individual as to what you prefer.

Google it.

Its a basic programme you may download and it tells you players CA/PA, you can search clubs, players, staff, basically anyone or anything in the game.  Tells you clubs preferred formations, and how good player will/could become.

Depends. I'm not one to tell people how to play FM. I don't use any scout program, training program or tactic program.

Besides i think i've played FM long enough to know who's good and who isn't anyway.

Three for me, and two for them.

The only so called cheating I could be accused of is using someone elses training schedule, but you gotta love Tugs training, its too good.

I do my own scouting and tactics.

shurly it is cheating.

What I always do is set up the Leagues to League 2 at the start of a game and get it to select a random team.  That is why I have managed Norwich to 2 play off semi finals and a possible relegation.  Then do your own scouting, training and tactics.

And no saving before each game and reloading if you get beat

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Get off those forums Frankie, they're bad for one's health.

I love that smiley so much, I guess because I spend a lot of time waving my fist in the air, saying "why you little..."

I think from reading it the biggest dodginess is that you can find out what you need to offer a club for them to sell a player.  That to me is a completely unfair advantage...

Downloading training schedules, now that IS definitely cheating!

The other dodginess areas are:

1. An idea of the Potential Ability of a player which you will not necessarily get an accurate read on through scouting.

2. Certainly as a Lower League manager you're scouts are very limited in how far they travel.  Genie shows you the whole world which gives you a much larger pool o find quality players in.

Yes, as I say, a dodgy area (Eastern Europe is the spot though... Poland, Slovenia, Hungary... stacks of good players your scouts won't find).

Why is getting a training schedule definately cheating, when you are unsure the genie scout is or isnt? I think genie scout is far more related to cheating than a training schedule..

Yea, having difficulty finding an 08 version that isn't Beta. Perhaps I shall have to stop cheating til I return to CHCH.
