Anyone play it?

Might struggle to get work permits, but there are some good NZ players out there if you want to try them.

i've got championship manager 5 i think, haven't played it in ages tho, the new ones hopefully out in nz. had reasonable success in it taking St Etienne to champions league glory, but i like taking really crap teams and seeing if i can get them up that far.

Am Arsenal in the 2nd season.

Was on course for a quadruple, ended up only winning the FA and League Cups.

Choked BIG time.

I would like to play this game it sounds good, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. :(

Some of the NZ research a bt slack have at admitt HN, Michael Bell is a speed machine and  I recall him having low pace

You'll probably find he has a genuine name but is a random gen. on details.

Apart from the NZFC sides (some like Otago were a guess there) all we did with the full NZ list was to trim out players who have retired or disappeared.

Also, isnt Chris  James' speed quite low?

Can't touch James, he's the Fulham researchers property.

All we have access too are the Knights (Phoenix), NZFC and unassigned NZ players.

Have bought every edition since CM93/94 - am over it now to be honest. I say that but any money I'll be first in line to buy the next one when it comes out just because it's got two new features.

I phucked up a whole year of high school due to CM97/98 - that stuff is worse than heroin.

But Championship manager isnt the same as football manager is it? its not like shane warne cricket and brian lara cricket which was the same thing but packaged different.

Up until CM 04 they were the same game, but then the two parties behind it split with one taking the engine and the other the data.

FM seems to be the most popular among football purists (and yes, I'm biased).

You can download a trial version of the website which will let you play a limited version of the first 12 months... but pay for it Farken !!

oooh trial version - Thx for the tip off - will google for it.  Then again it will probably take me a year to download it due to sloooooow speeds.

You'll get them for as little as 8-10, but they will be worth 20-30 in a couple of seasons.

What's the A-League section of the game like? Is it based on the 2005-06 season or the 2006-07 season? Is the Asian Champions League included? Is there a salary cap? Who is the "favorite" for the title?

 

2006-2007.  Salary Cap yes, Marquee yes.  4 week loans are a bit messy but get better as long as you have the latest patch. 

The first release has the Knights pretty competitive but the later patches are more accurate.  A bit hard to tell how things would go before the season started.

The new edition out in 6 months (ish) for 08 will be much better.  Should have the league rules more accurate and a better estimate on the sides.

I had to play a game last night as the Knights (under the 4 imports, and the rest kiwi's challenge that was made to me) and I had 4 players to select from.  Injuries and suspension took 10 away from me and then six were called up for the NZ U-23 squad.

Can't remember... I'll check tonight.  Either drew or lost 1-0 (the game just padded my squad with grey players).

I'm now in the play-offs, finished 4th.  Drew 0-0 with Newcastle in the first leg, got to try and sneak an away goal there.

Whats with this fm? Everyone's always injured!

I think I will wait for FM 08 to come out.

If the league rules worked I could have bought in players on 4 week short term contracts to cover the unavailable players.  Unfortunately it's still a battle we're fighting to get that engineered.

I guess you could consider the 'gray' players as those short term signings.

Just bought mine - waiting for it to arrive now 

I first played with Melbourne (as it was the first game I could find with the official A-League) and for the first season I think I beat the Knights once. I seemed to be their bunny. Different story in the 2nd season though, they went further downhill.  The better players seem to be the Victorian-based ones (Lia, Ferrante, Storey, etc) rather than the Brazilians.

Record win is 8-0 against Altona Magic in the Australian Cup (what the?)

Record loss is 0-10 to the Central Coast. What a farce. I substituted Theoklitos off after half an hour when he conceded 3 goals. Galekovic was on for 5 minutes and got sent off for charging in the box. I had to have an outfielder as my keeper.

I also had a 1 year stint as manager of American Samoa. Hehe. And I provided them with their first ever international victory.

Now starting in the lower leagues of England, not sure who with yet.

I just won the V3 Pre-Season Cup with the Knights.  Squad has 17 kiwi's in it...
