I never get to play on the weekends anymore or well only if i stay
in on Sat nite or go on Sunday nite cause i have football all
weekend and after football hang out with mates, so i usually play
during the week whenever i get a chance.

..or not. Will have to put this one on hold.
I haven't attempted being manager of a Country yet.
If you're going to do what I did and try and win games with American Samoa, make sure you have another job or club to manage in the same game. I didn't, and would play perhaps 1 organised friendly with St Kitts & Nevis or someone like that, then wait out half a year for the next one. That was before Olympic, OFC and WC qualifiers.
i always start my games with a random conference league club, cant
see the point starting with a club which already has stars, money
etc
I always start with Port Vale and they soon become a random conference league club . . .
I brought a guy Alexandr Geyrinth. Uzbekistani international and
really stil young to my knowledge scored a good amount for me when
i was the knights.
Thanks Hard News, I will go have a look at a few of them.
Scott McDonald and David Williams did wonders for me, also as
Australian they don't take out a foreign spot in the ACL. After a
season or two Brockie becomes a valuable asset, if trained well.
His only problem is constantly being out on International games for
NZ.
This is who is in my Euro 2008 Group.
Austria
Serbia
Turkey
Should be interesting i do expect to go through though. One group which is certainly the group of death is Group C which features:
France
Italy
Germany
Sweden
Looking forward to the challenge of managing in a major international tournament for a change.

It's mean as man you gotta give it a go sometime just to vary your
game a little.
I might try it out on the weekend.

Been playing Football Manager for years now, since back in the CM
days. My wife always knows what to get me for Xmas and then I speak
to her about a month later lol
I don't have friends, and I suck at sports, so I need
something to do on my weekends. :P
Well now i have my chance here's how i've gone tonight in Euro
2008.
vs Serbia 3-1 (Crouch 2, Gerrard)

I don't think I will even attempt to be American Somoa, I will
probaly be a smaller European country, since they have the most
World Cup spots.
Play with Djibouti in Africa.
Nobodys even heard of that country.
Lol.
I choose Denmark, had a draw with Iceland. :(
Have been able to play again today due to day off school for exam
week.
QF v Holland - 3-0 (Crouch 2, Terry)
SF v Czech Republic - 1-0 (Crouch)
Final v Spain - will be played very shortly. Crouch is on fire for me very realistic i feel because in real life he scores regularly for England too.

Gerrard 45'
Gerrard scored with an injury time header in the 1st half to give me the win. I have to say i'm pleased about this Gerrard played well but being a bit biased i felt the Man of the Match was super keeper Paul Robinson who made about 5 world class saves.

Gratz on winning Euro 08, I might not even qualify for it. xD
Like a few people here in this thread here if been addicted for
years. Got into it with CM99 and have "pinched" (when I was a
poor uni student) or brought every release of it since. In
2002 it sigle handedly helped me to fail a semster at Uni, it can
be like a drug.
I've found in 08 that James plays for NZ and that if you
manage NZ you can get some great results (I've beaten England at
Wembley with all of our current AWs fully fit). It must be
noted though that some of the better kiwis in the game have never
worn the whites in real life (at least as far as I'm aware), noting
especially Nathan Knox, Rory Fallon (the game doesn't recognise
FIFAs 21 decleration age limit) and Winston Reid.
One problem with 07 including the most recent .0.2 update, is
that Danny is playing at Perth (?).
A beaut of a youngster I've found is Franco Arizala from
Columbia, young, cheap very talented and has become the best
striker in the A-League at 21/22 (I'm playing the Knights with
Fallon and Dugdale as assistants!).
You can get some great results though. With 06 I managed
Tahiti for 10 years, turning most of my players into Pros (most in
France or Australia) and qualified for the world cup twice by
beating the best team from Asia (or South America, I don't remember
which) home and away, obvioulsy taking care of NZ at the same
time!
Do you guys have any recomendations on good free players on this game that can go to the A-League. Or good loans.
Nope, if HN comes here he will offer some good tips or a few other
guys on here who know more than me about the game, hopefully they
will check the thread and help you out.
I'm currently enjoying the 2010 World Cup with England, having completed the group stage.
4-2 v Croatia (Crouch 2, Owen, Joe Cole)
3-1 v Paraguay (Owen, Sinclair, Wright-Phillips)
3-0 v Australia (Owen, Sinclair, Crouch)
Have drawn Belgium in the Round of Sixteen.

Sorry mate havn't played in the A-League yet ;)
Try Hayden Foxe though.

Ecuadorian defender - Caciedo. Positively superb.

Same here.
I've played the Knights for the challenge, but normally it's Nuneaton, or Alto Adige. Currently I'm playing as Skive in Denmark. 2nd in Div 1 after promotion from Div 2 West. Looking for promotion to the big time.

Here is an update for FM07 which replaces the Knights with the
Phoenix.
Havn't tried it yet myself so can't comment on it.
Forzy2007-06-12 00:07:07
Cheers Forzy, look forward to trying it soon.
Lost the WC Final to Germany 2-1 so that might be the end of that game anyway.
Had a quick look at it but i'll wait until we've signed our next
few players before I start a game with the Phoenix. Everyone
that we have signed is in the Phoenix squad with this update,
except Smeltz, although updates for this are done regularly I think
so just keep an eye on that thread on the SI.com forums.
The colours for the Phoenix are there, but the Knights logo is
still there (I have changed it myself to the Phoenix one) and also
the Knights kit is still on there (look through the other clubs kit
to see if you can replace it with something similar to the
Phoenix's, I chose the Birmingham Away kit - a black and yellow
number).
My latest FM game needed to be a bit different, as it was getting a
bit stale.
So I found an update which had EVERY player starting the game out of contract and on a free transfer!
It's been really fascinating so far. I started as Arsenal - obviously it doesn't matter a massive deal who you start with, but club reputation, wage budget, etc is important.
There are obviously some huge, drawn-out battles for certain players signatures, whilst others go under the radar for ages. But it gives you the chance to create a fantasy side, of all your favourites players, or what ever.
My squad includes:
Keepers - Cech, Craig Gordon, Kasper Schmeichel, and Nikopolidis
Defence - Gallas, Nesta, Bargazli, Carragher, Grosso, Barry, and youngsters including Micah Richards, vanden Borre, Bale, Pique.
Mids - Italian engine of Gattuso, Pirlo, De Rossi, plus Fabregas, Kaka, Giggs, Christiano Ronaldo, Robben, Bentley, and Chris James ;)
Forwards - Rooney, Torres, Huntelaar, Podolski, plus youngsters like Higuain, Rossi, Agbonlahor, Walcott, and Vonlanthen
Obviously not just a "buy all the best FM players" effort, as that would be a bit lame. So a mix of my favourite players (eg Giggs, Gattuso, Grosso, Cech) with players I'd never managed before (eg Rooney, Ronaldo, as I would never manage Man U ;), and certified FM stars (Vanden Borre,
Higuain, etc).
Obviously, it's tricky to balance getting carried away and having too many players for each position etc.
Afterwards, I noticed I had probably been paying far too much for wages (because I was so desperate to get these players, but because they weren't contracted, it appears the computer controlled clubs are picking them up for pretty low wages).

i do my own data updates and iwould like to know how to
extend the a-league player limit from 20 to 23 players. does
anybody know?
my phoenix squad currently has 19 players, including only
costa as an under 20, so i will have to cull a player when i start
the game.
cheers
Don't know how you can keep everyone happy with that squad. I'm in
2011 with Arezzo won the Serie A once looking for a second. Also
picked up a world cup with Italy
team is:
Biel - Piccolo Chrygrynski Talamonti Marzio - Blazysowski Gago Biglia Ruschelleda - Doudin Vitiello
Lanza - Boesnich - Granqvist - Donati - Croce - Di Donato - Gaston Fernandez

Hey do any of you know where this game is stocked?
I have tried gameplanet who but they can no longer source this
from overseas, also tried gamesman with no luck.
Any suggestions would help, online stores were what I was
after as all stores here in Hamilton do not have it either.
Cheers
Ive played 07 for quite a while now, i reccomend Fm-Britain for
Footie Manager discussions, at the moment im managing arsenal,
halway into my 3rd season, currently 2nd to Liverpool and on a 7
game winning streak =]

Does anyone know the reason behind the inability to manage and have
players for Holland, Germany, Japan et al? Also whats with no J
League. FM is pretty big in Japan. Lastly Jens Mustermann?
Copyright. If you read the press release for 08 it expains
that they are trying to get Germany back on board.
