A real retro gem for you kids. I’ve recently become addicted to SWOS (Sensible World of Soccer) after re-downloading it (teams updated as at 16/17 season). This is the original Sensible Soccer pc/amiga game, with updated teams.
I’ve played lots of SENSI over the years, but I’ve never been good at SWOS, where you have 20 seasons as player-coach-manager (you choose what option) of your team.
You can play in hundreds of leagues and it is usually quite difficult to win any league or cup for a few seasons. Once you get your first win, money starts rolling in and it gets easier.
I just finished a career, where I started with TeeDubs, couldn’t win anything for 3-4 seasons, then moved to the Far Oer Islands where I won the Cup (and was runner up), finally got my big break with Folgore/Falciano in San Marino. Won the double in my first year and for the next 3-4 years, then called up to the San Marino National Team which was awesome, though the players are so poor I couldn’t win a game in about 4 years! Went back to my club and finished my career with a few doubles and by managing the QF of the champions league (the first round after the group stages).
Love how competitive and difficult the game is.
I started a new season with Auckland City (as I wanted to win the league pretty quickly!), won it in my second year and now onto my third, so hopefully some bigger club worldwide will make me an offer soon).
The interesting bit about SWOS is usually national teams will offer you a job
based on your nationality – this time I’m kiwi so hopefully I get to coach NZ
soon.
This website has a wealth of information on the game and tells you how to play online if that's your things. There's also a free and legal option to download the game.
