I've fixed oading newer and older posts on the iOS app. The Android fix is a lot more complicated to do for various reasons, I'm trying to get it done as soon as I can.

Can you make a function for the app so that your phone runs toasty warm for chilly evening matches such as last night. A kind of Hand Warmer app. Thank you.

Isn't their an app called "faulty battery" that does that?

Another issue, sometimes when clicking on the 'view # new' link for a thread it takes you to blank page, 1 page further than any content in the thread.

This is the one thing i wish you could fix.

If people stopped posting things that the mods have to hid, I don't think it would happen. Threads start off fine but as the post count grows it happens and im pretty sure it will be due to hidden posts.

It's not because of hidden posts anymore, we fixed that when we switch web hosting providers from OpenHost to DigitalOcean, because we no longer had to cache the fuck out of everything to get the website to run at a decent speed.

If it happens to you again, if you could post a screenshot of the page and the link that the website has taken you to so I can investigate, that would be much appreciated.

This link:

points to http://www.yellowfever.co.nz/posts/980768

This expands to the URL http://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/fifa-world-cup-2014-by-tab/topics/official-world-cup-tipping-competition-one-spot-left?page=17#post_980768

But that page is blank:

If you change page=17 to page=16 in the URL it works, so the page number is being calculated wrong.

Hi guys, I did experience some weirdness today - all of it on the site!

I have just posted my item on the FIFA WC page for the 3/4 place playoffs.  Saved it. I then decided to edit couple of misspellings. Saved it. Realised that it looked like I quoted my own post. Edited, checked for errors, saved it.

Weirdness: all of the three edits appeared as individual posts, so now it is in triplicate. I swear I did not "quote" myself, but "edited" my post.

http://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/fifa-world...

Please feel free to delete the first two or however many copies appeared, and only leave the last one, on my behalf.

Thanks!

I have done this many times recently, but assumed it was because mostly due to sleep deprivation from watching the 4am games. How mysterious.

Thanks Fitzy, I've been really careful and can assure you this was no "Quote". Only "Edit".

I can try here and see if it has the same effect.

Edit: no, it doesn't. So maybe it was limited to one thread.

Or maybe I am going mad after all.

Then maybe I can ask if there is a way to remove one's own posts? Like the triplicate one I've just described.

It looks truly cringe-worthy like some newbie's post.

Spamming c*nts worked out that the best time to spam the forums is on a Saturday arvo when all the mods are out at football. I think I've cleaned it all up, let me know if I missed any of it.

Well if some didn't know before they know now. You may have a busier Saturday next weekend now Patrick

You're no longer allowed to change your password to "brazildefence", the site will tell you that it's too weak.

Sometimes linebreaks don't work. I hit enter, and on the writing/editing a post screen the line breaks are there but when I post it they aren't.

Could we get a Twitter embed button similar to Youtube. It would make posting stuff from Twitter a lot tidier. Im using the HTML code atm and it looks bad.

Auto scaling of photo needs an update. One loaded you can only scale/edit with a PC. Mobile and iPad  won't work

You can embed YouTube videos in posts now by just pasting the URL of the video in the post editor and pressing enter. No more copying the embed code from YouTube and having to paste that all in the Embed Video box.

Also.  Can we either remove threads about Trophy manager from the Active, or tag them with TM at the front?

Yup. Will add a mod option to the category called "Hide from admin" that we can turn on.

is it possible to have the (for example)

Forums > Announcements and Feedback > General Announcements >

at the bottom of the page as well, so that after reading the last post I can click on it to go back to the forum menu.

At present have to scroll back up to the top.

(unless there is some other tech solution I dont know, not that up with it)

Cheers

Does the back button on the browser not take you back to where you were before?

Got this of the QPR Report MB. I suggested something like this when the iphone app got released for the recent tour. It appears someone else overseas was on the same wave length and channel......

"From stuff.tv

Football fans the winners as signal-boosting app heads to more stadiums

Brighton & Hove Albion’s clever signal-sharing app gets Football League backing just in time for the new season

by Tom Wiggins31 July 2014 1:09pm

An app that aims to end the problem of bad phone signal in big stadiums is heading to more football grounds around the country, including Loftus Road, home of newly promoted QPR.

Originally developed for Brighton & Hove Albion by a team at the University of Sussex, the free Android and iOS app creates a network between phones within the stadium to share what little signal is available. Within the app fans can then check scores, team info and more while they sup a half-time pint or force down a soggy pie (unless they’re at Brighton’s Amex Stadium, where the pies really are excellent).

Now Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Bolton, Watford and Premier League noobies Queens Park Rangers have signed up to use the technology for their own signal-sharing apps, with more clubs hoping to follow soon."

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The forum seems to be loading very slowly recently, whenever I try to view an existing topic.

Anyone else have this problem?

over 11 years ago · edited over 11 years ago · History

Yep I am also having this problem in the last day or so.

I've killed some background processes that were running on the server, so hopefully that will speed things up a bit.

Seems like we are running much more smoothly now.

(the purple is the amount of time the server takes to prepare the page you are looking at, the rest is due to the network, and client computer.)

Great thanks Patrick, running much quicker this end now.

Like that the sub-forums are visible when viewing the active topics page.

I think having your name visible when you post things, is leaving yourselves open for possible abuse!

You don't have to. We wanted people to have the option to say who they were...

I like it there. The forum is under the name of the thread now so it isnt that bad any more.

Executive decision has been made to bump them. We are, after all, a football site not a computer games site etc. We're going to add a new active tab for off topic stuff.

What about coding a feature that lets people filter what sections they see in the active topics page?

well that's annoying. Bumping off topic just because a few people don't like looking at them.

Is it really that annoying?

I understand previously when thread titles may have been confusing, but the forum name is right there with the thread now, so there is no problem whatsoever.

Maybe bump English football too, since we are a Wellington Phoenix fan site? I'm sure a few people don't go into those threads.

RRs idea is better if its possible.
