Why do people care if a commentator has opinions or not? That's what pundits are for. Or are some of you sitting there watching the game alone just desperate to have someone contrary to argue with?
Three for me, and two for them.
They would have struggled to get out of the group if it wasn't for those poor decisions they got in the first game and if Croatia had a better keeper than Pletikosa. Feel sorry for the fans but this had been on the cards.
at 48 million or whatever it was for Luiz. Absolutely shambolic defender, which is why Mourinho didn't play him there. Surely PSG haven't signed him as a CB have they?
Van Persie turning up in a tournament when it didn't matter for a change too.
think the commentary has been utter pants, incorrect , no opinions just sit on the fence waffle
Correct. John Helm is employed by the ultimate "sit on the fence" organisation; that is, Fifa. Wouldn't want to offend anybody by having an opinion and lose the gig at Fifa tv...
Someone on the forum said they once met him and he was a nice bloke. He may well be but as a commentator he is truly dreadful and has been ruining World Cup calls for as long as I can remember. He'd be fine doing the announcements at a village fete but as far as interesting, insightful football commentary goes it's like giving the microphone to your old grandad after he's had one shandy too many.

I am not complaining. He reminded me of an old school cricket commentator.
Terminally nice and affable. No opinion, but full of historical tidbits and statistics.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
Brazil might have been booed for 90 minutes during the game but it wasn't as loud as the booing Sepp Blatter got when he went to hand out the 3rd place medals. He got a real serving.
