The "standard" of a woman (or anyone) isn't determined what they look like, it's objectifying and belittling. Apologies for the strong language but I am sick of men in this thread persisting with being creeps despite multiple people calling it out.

Yeah lets just pretend attractiveness and desireable physical qualiities do not exist. That'll work. I can guarantee those women wouldn't be dating Taylor Regan (or me).

Of course they exist.  You've missed the point entirely.

Where were you when Vince Lia was being objectified on these forums?

Why was that ok, but this isn't?

Just thinking about this... so should be ok if instead of standard, he says "standard of attractiveness"?

Ok enough of this. Back on topic please and no more comments about the women in the articles.

The guy is a leg end! Sorry Matt, it just popped into my head. You are right and frankly I am surprised that his performance in the second half hasn't been mentioned. I still thought it was a soft penalty he had given against him.

Soft maybe, but I still feel technical correct. The difference is you don't normally see those calls being made by the referees in the league. I actually think the referee we had on Saturday was really good and best I've seen this season.

Very good ref for sure. However still think the young guy who took us against Brisbane in the 0-0 draw has a ton of promise

Got the feeling some of the Nix players had sympathy for the CCM crew. Many of them know what's it's like when your season is turning to custard, no matter how hard you try.

Its our little opportunity to have a taste of the UK gutter press experience. Apart from my admiration of the standard of woman he has attracted, what a brilliant idea to give them all the same nickname to prevent him calling out one of the other names in the height of passion. Obviously didn't work ultimately though.......

This is absolutely disgusting. Check yourself.

I am tired of the creepy posts, but saying this is disgusting is going a bit far.

Yeah its a little crude and distasteful but not disgusting.

It should be noted that it is our Steven whom has said he is single and enjoying himself in Wellington.

My major concern about his comments is why are all these women foreigners flying in for moments of passion?

Surely he can find someone here up to his standard?

We (Kiwis) are quite well known to be down the pecking order when it comes to the hotness stakes and it's possible any kiwis he has been involved with are more classy then the Aussie and British ones that have dragged themselves through "The Scum" paper.

1. Right here, but with far less understanding of these issues, or the confidence to raise them.

2. It's not necessarily okay, but the objectification of women who we don't know is far more problematic and dangerous than anything that was said here about Vince Lia.

It also reflects poorly on the Fever which, as a group of sports club followers dominated by cis-het men, fits the stereotypical profile of a sexist and patriarchal institution.  I think we generally do well to counter this stereotype, and are continuing to improve, but for me it is important to call out the sort of comments about women that have been made in this thread which are sexist and would put a lot of women off becoming part of the Fever.

I think we're certainly off-topic now, I'm happy to take this to the inclusiveness thread if you would like to discuss further.

Creepy yes, and something that some people need to curb lest they seem completely unapproachable, but not something that needs to be cracked down on with an iron fist. You should hear the way some ladies go on about the Cristiano Ronaldos and Cole Sprouses of this world. It's a human thing

Completely off topic though - Taylor's a good player isn't he?

Because it is not football discussion, at least the other stuff was football discussion until it went off topic and is unlikely to stay off topic like the other stuff would. As said, if you want to continue the discussion, take it to the other thread.

One could have said you were "drawing a long bow" but in this case, I think "drawing a long pin" would have sufficed. Frankly, I don't care. Taylor has been an immensley positive influence in our defence and I hope in the two years (or more) he is here, that it continues and at last we have moved away from the leaky defence syndrome we have had for too many seasons.

Thread closure/censorship appears to be a little bit scatter gun now, conversations are being shut down for opinion-based, and ever-changing reasons. I understand that it's at the moderator's discretion, and they are volunteers, so I don't want to start criticising individual decisions heavily, but perhaps we need an expansion on the detail in the forum rules so that we know what we can and can't do moving forward?

This is a Steven Taylor thread, not a football thread. Really no need to move the discussion.

Ok point made and agree with you, discussion around Taylor is correct but it wasn't about Taylor and was about appropriate of comments made about the ladies in those articles. Which isn't about Taylor.

That's ridiculous, if you go to the UK tabloids and sell a story branding Steven Taylor a love rat, including the below quotes, I'm not sure you get to be taken THAT seriously.

She said: “I was smitten and was in love. We had sex everywhere in his flat which overlooked the ocean.

“Steven called me ‘long pins’ as he loved my long legs. Then I find out he’s calling another woman the same thing.

“He loved me dressing up for him in stockings and suspenders and sexy underwear. He called me ‘wifey’.

“I thought this was the real thing but it was all lies. He’s an arrogant footballer who thinks he’s God’s gift and can get any woman. But the sex wasn’t brilliant. I had a lucky escape.”

There are masses of off-topic comments not about football that don't get deleted on here.  I echo paulm's sentiments about not wanting to criticise the volunteer work that you're doing, but some more consistency would be appreciated.  If the reason is that you want more controversial topics to be kept to certain threads, then please just be up front and say that.

Steven may be a little embarrassed by all this and being found out but he doesn't seem overly so by his remarks.

That's good if his game is not suffering and he is probably old enough and (I was going to say ugly enough but he is actually a good  looking man) to handle it.

I am however quite pleased that the Nix are getting press overseas with while not a household name, a known one for any football supporter.

I can't actually think of another occasion where we have had so much press attention overseas so as I said before any publicity is good publicity
