Pity you wasted all your effort by not getting to the point hours ago. I don't give a rats arse about what Oz supporters think. I have my own opinion.
The problem with you is that you have this big poppy syndrome about Oz, and you scorn any sport that they are involved with.
The fact is that because of the population(compared to NZ) and they put a lot of money into many sports, they are better (accross the board) than us.
The Canadians and the US are the same as are Scotland and England(although a few wars might not have helped)
The frightening thing is that I used to think like you some years ago.Travel changed all that narrow thinking(and no, not just to Oz)

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

On the contrary, many Socceroos fans think the passing of the 'golden generation' is the end of the world and that they now have no hope in achieving anything for the next decade.

Perhaps if you made your point clear, rather than ramble of some randoms points that have no fact behind them, then I wouldn't have wasted an hour.

So if I don't like the Aussie cricketers and the socceroos I suddenly I scorn all aussie sports teams.  Get a grip.  I don't like the French football team either.  And its not because they are better than us.  It's because they are full of sh*thead.

Not sure how travelling makes you like a team full of cocks. But good on ya.

Alright lads, get a room.

Back on topic

First match tonight:
Hosts Qatar v Uzbekistan. If I've got the time difference right, it's at 5:15am in NZ.

Looking 4ward to it.  Hope OZ smash Sth Korea.  Interested in Bahrain's performances.  Qatar for the LOLs.  Just wish NZ could be a part of it, really.  Had to explain during the WC to a Korean housewife how Australia became part of Asia.  She was not impressed: "They are absolutely not Asians!"

0-0.  Half time.  Qatar much more in to it, now.

Stadium = very nice.  Pitch = something out of Augusta National.

Thanks for stopping them before the destruction of yet another thread, wolfman.

Hilarious about Qatar, that isn't looking good for them at all.  Wish this tournament was televised.

Don't worry Stevo, I understand perfectly. You still have my love.

Missed that first game due to an office party. Rolled home at halftime, and kept dozing off as the 2nd half began. Gave up, but will be ready for the China v Kuwait match tonight.

I agree, but will watch the China game tonight just to see what we might be up against in a couple of months.

30 mins in Kuwait 0-0 China.

China have had a few good chances, but pretty even so far. Ben Williams having a poor game with the whistle, missing a pen, and later failing to play a fairly obvious advantage. China getting penalised (but not carded) for some "robust" challenges.

As I write that, Williams finally brings out a yellow for China.

36 mins

Now a red for Musaed Neda of Kuwait for a kick to the nads of a Chinese player while both were on the deck.

38 mins: Fahar Awad (defender) comes on for Yousuf Naser (forward) as a result of the dismissal

Halftime 0-0. Not terribly good quality football, but plenty of incident. Kuwait have a half-chance right on halftime.

One blatant penalty missed by the ref, China winning the fouls 14-8, and a red card for Kuwait.

I didn't think that red card incident was that bad.He did seem to make a small movement with his foot.
The Chinese player took his chance to roll around.
Probably need to see a replay.

Ok, just seen a replay.Looked fair enough to send him off.

Good evening Wolfy.  Pretty standard Asian affair, here.  Plenty of effeminate Arabic men rolling about.  As you say..."robust" Chinese tackling.  Some dodgy defence.  With a keeper howler always just round the corner.  Some nice build up work at pace.  But poor finishing.  Which means a 0-0 scoreline is the most likely result, imho. Halftime sub for China

Qu Bo (midfield) off, on comes Hao Junmin (midfield). Hao is apparently this Chinese squad's only overseas-based player. He plays for Schalke 04.

China's average age is 24, the youngest at this tournament.

Was it over the line?

There's our keeper howler.

Chinese keeper fumbles and spills the ball over the line from a free-kick. Replays show it might not have made it all the way across.

If it was, I think the lino would have been unsighted, as the side-on replay shows the ball disappear behind the keeper's body. Whenever it's in sight, it's not over.

China 1-0 from a corner.
Half-cleared, volleyed from the edge of the area, ball deflected past the keeper off a defender.

Scorer: Zhang Linpeng

China might be a little "robust".  But these Kuwaitees (?) are dreaming.  Nice freekick.  Better watch out for that Ricki.

Fulltime: China 2-0 Kuwait

Kuwait will be wondering what might have been. A pretty clear penalty shout turned down, a man sent off, a ball that may have been fumbled over the line, all before China opened the scoring.

As Stevo says, they'll also wonder how China can lead the foul count 22-17, yet the card count is Kuwait 2 yellow and a straight red, China 1 yellow.

Bring on March.  The usual.  Set pieces.  Solid defence.  And mixed together with crazy young mayhem: we'll be right.  And we like it "wuff", too!  So no problems there.

Nice goals by China, that strike off the corner kick was a bit of a shocker, good stuff though.

Next 2 matches on today, I predict..

Japan to beat Jordan

Saudis to beat Syria.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Halftime: Jordan 1-0 Japan

Missed the first 25 mins, as Jr Wolf needed a story. However, I tuned in to see what was apparently Jordan's first shot. Japan clearly on top, but Jordan making a few chances in what I saw. Jordan scored against the general run of play right on halftime.

If Japan can keep their composure, and continue playing like they have, they should come back and win. However, a lot will depend on how strong the ref is when the Jordanians keep faking injuries and time-wasting throughout the 2nd half.
