There is a great football documentary on Netflix it is called les bleus une autre histoire de france (The blues another story of france). It covers the French National football team from 1996 to 2016). Don't worry it is subtitled on Netflix, below is the trailer.
Great Footballing Documentary
Recently watched both "Becoming Zlatan" and "Trainer!" which is a German doco focusing on three coaches in the 2nd and 3rd tier in Germany - they are both worth a watch!
EDIT: There used to be another doco on Netflix which was about the American Samoan football team.
this is worth a look if you can find it.
"Next Goal Wins" about the American Samoan team is excellent
"Game of their Lives" about the North Korean team of 1966 is fascinating
"Hillsborough", directed by Dan Gordon, is outstanding
"Og Det Var Danmark", about the Danish side 1984-92 is absolutely brilliant
"The Crazy Gang" about Wimbledon, is worth a look
"The Two Escobars" from ESPN is great, and some of the shorter 30 for 30s, such as "The Opposition" and "Magico" are also great.
And "82 And All That", haha :)
I believe in miracles is a heart warming story
absolutely agree - superbly made
Once in A Lifetime, about the NY Cosmos, also has some real interesting stuff in it
"Next Goal Wins" about the American Samoan team is excellent
Next Goal Wins screening on Maori TV 8.30 PM, Monday 24 December 2018 (Xmas Eve).
The Sunderland doco on Netflix is quite nice.
Has anyone seen "The mouse that scored a goal" (aka "Kicks for the crown") a doco about the Liechtenstein team trying to quality for the EURO finals?
There's a trailer on youtube, but can't find the doco anywhere...

Interesting doco airing on Australian TV tonight, about craziness of Indonesian football. 70 odd deaths in last 20 years or something.
Is actually Australia's closest neighbour, but apart from Bali, most Aussies know fudge all about Indonesia.

oohh PNG would be interesting, they had that breakaway league and its where David "Oceania baked beans" Chung was from, always wanted to find out more about what went on there
does the ABC have an on demand service? (suppose I'll have to use a VPN to see it)
It’s a doco on the Indonesian League. Leggy meant PNG is the closest country to Oz.
But Indo ain’t that far off the northern tip either, just not much in the average Aussie’s conscious.

Try the above link.
Definitely worth a look. Could have been interesting for the Newcastle boys, if they had had to play away against Persija in the ACL!!
Sorry to thread hijack but didn't wanna make a new thread for this. Some people on Twitter I know have put together a 20 min documentary about women's football in Aussie and what it means to them in the lead up to the World Cup. So thought I would share it here.
You had me at Tara Rushton :)
Looks Michael Calvin has made a film around the themes of his recent book 'State of play'. It's being shown on by sport in the UK, following the Europa and Champions League finals.
Fantastic episode on Netflix documentary series 'losers' about Torquay United staying up in 87. Episode 2. A great story with some right characters.
Watched the Toni KROOS documentary. Not sure when this widely available but worth to see if you like hear why Toni he’s so highly rated.
Bonus: In one of the photos from Kroos Rostock youth team, you can see Cole Peverley in the background (I think :)
Not a Documentary but a docudrama.
The Sunderland doco on Netflix is quite nice.
season 2 starts on wednesday.
just finished watching this morning
The Bobby Robson doco on Netflix is a decent watch (not least hearing Ronaldo (the original) speak English!!)
I'm currently watching Boca Juniors Confidential. Behind the scenes look similar to the Sunderland one.
not even a docudrama, more a "based on" as its full of inaccuracies The Blackburn FC team in the TV series is fictional - it was Blackburn Olympic that were the first working class team to win the FA Cup, Then Blackburn Rovers won it 4 times in a row.
Fergie Suter (one of the main characters) only ever played one game for Blackburn Rovers
Also no club were threatened with expulsion from the FA Cup for professionalism, it was actually Preston North End a few years later and it was the league not the cup
Still if you ignore the inaccuracies its an enjoyable watch

Surely they should show more respect and show their senior team?
So apparently Netflix dropped the "Class of 92" series, including the latest installment "Class of 92 - Full time".
Real shame as I enjoyed that documentary very much...
I'm now looking to dOwNlOaD it...but there are too few seeders!
Will definitely check out The English Game once I've finished watching the third season of Ozark.

Here's a good article that gives some background to the Characters Fergie Suter and John Love who are believed to be the first players to receive payment for playing football

Ive got BBC Match of the day set - 60's, 70's 80's DVD's to watch. damn good crowds, terracing, atmosphere and charactors of the game.
sunderland til i die season 2 enjoying this shame it is only six episodes. already onto episode 4 so going through it too fast
started watching the boca juniors one but the subtitles lose me a little as i have to concentrate more and miss some of the subtitles when i get distracted talking to my partner.
After being football starved for a few weeks, I can't wait to get suck into the new
Sunderland til I die, Class of 92: Full time (season 3) and the English game!
Watched the one about Carlos Tevezs early life if you can handle suntitles
In season two of Sunderland Til' I Die (p 3 or 4 I think) they played a clip of Wigan fans chanting Will Grigg's on fire in the same way we used to do with Krishna and it gave me chills!

Well, Wigan is where that chant started.
So any chance 'Undefeated' the AWs 2010 world cup doco is online anywhere? I'd love to watch that.
Watched the first two episodes of S02 of Sunderland till I die this arvo while my wife worked in the garden with junior and baby slept. Man it's such a good doco, I really love it.
I've always wondered what it would be like to support a football club in the UK. They're just miles away compared to Italy (in terms of atmosphere, infrastructure, fan engagement etc).
Hopefully I'll watch another episode before bed tonight

If you haven't already NZPower, watch Season 1, too.
I watched Season 2 over the weekend. One notable feature of this season is that there is a lot less interaction and talks with players than in Season 1. Apparently a lot of the players weren't keen on Season 2, as they were worried that it would be hard to shed the image of 'losers' if things didn't go well.
I also have to say I found Charlie Methven very unlikable too.
Loved s1 GG... And yes Boxy.. He's annoying as anything. So far I thought the owner was actually the most likeable character.. Very down to earth. Methven sounds just quite fake and very annoying
