Petition to sky

While I was in Asia last year I tuned in and watched Star, which is from the same stable as FOX and Sky. I would pay to see that as a football channel, it was comprehensive and far better quality than ESPN.

I think if they had a dedicated channel they would keep the current content where it is, but add extra content to a new channel. The problem is there is only so many games you can show live over sat & sun night/morning. The rest of the time they could show full replays of all the games. and have UK & rest of world based news & infotainment shows, with interviews etc. Leagues that they could carry on a dedicated channel that should get a good subscription base would be: English Championship, Dutch Eredivisie, Scottish PL, Greek Super League & enhanced coverage of PL, Serie A & La liga. On top of this add a tonne of local content and there is enough content out there with cup competitions to fill the channel 24/7. The only problem is that each of these leagues sell thier TV rights individually, and the cost of securing most of the coverage we all crave would be prohibitive unless they charge a huge monthly fee. It would be hard for sky to make this decision based on a vocal minority (which we are ) They would have to sell advertising on this channel as well and it is hard to sell space @ 3am on a monday morning which in theory is when we would be watching our live games. I would love to see this channel happen, But NZ is too small a market to make it financially viable for sky.

i remember on CTV they had dwtv (a german sub-network) which had bundasleaga (sp?) coverage...it was quite good to watch, for free to air coverage.

i'd like to see more of the MLS, i think its a good competition and has/have a few Kiwis in it.

it also wouldn't be so silly to have better coverage of the 4 main english divs as the majority of football fans in NZ follow a team in one of the 4 (a generalisation so dont whinge)

....anybody else remember when Saturn used to show the local football in Wellington, with Graeme Sole in the commentary box? Used to enjoy watching that.

I was in wellington down from auckland on the weekend and meet gille in town and he said they watch the celtic games at there club? does anybody happen to know if there is anywhere in auckland the games are on?

not enough people will watch, they should show the finals there though, whos up for a petition to new zealand television for epl and football news on tv! the long debate but they should still at least broadcast more football on free tv news...

It would be great to watch the ITV league review every week, showing all the goals and highlights from the proper leagues and not continue drowning in the premiership garbage.
