What's your beef with my Schweiny? I like him.

Player of the cup so far for me is either Bastien, Ozil, or Villa. Or Paston!

You do realise that was a 3rd place playoff. In other words, it meant nothing.

Three for me, and two for them.

I'm on dial-up, so no videos for me! Was that the game he scored those two screamers? That's the game I became a Schweinsteiger fan.

I think Lugano has been absolutely f***en massive for Uruguay
it's bad enough missing Godin, if Lugano is a no show they wont get past Holland
I'll even punt Lugano for Arsenal he's been that good

Forlan has played well.
Enyema, Kingson, Paston all did good

Obafemi Martins was a victim of poor team selection. No wonder the gummerment is threating every man jack of them with the sack

tournament flop, no lets focus on the positives

He's only played 2 games.

Three for me, and two for them.

Klose, Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Muller.  Infact the whole German squad but especially those four.

Add Forlan, Nelsen, and Kewell*.

*You got me!

He's not at the tournament mate.

Three for me, and two for them.

Awesome.* That's why I've nominated him for the player of the tournament. Big semi-final against the Dutch, hope we can do it.

*May not actually be true. Sometimes I'm very selective of reality I accept.

Bump.

A good time to reconsider this question.

Will there be a continuation of the curse of the last three tournaments whereby the Golden Ball winner turns from tournament superstar into final flop? Ronaldo 1998, Kahn 2002 & Zidane 2006. We'll see.

Aside: Is the Golden Ball decided, if not actually awarded, before the final? Votes may well be cast prior to the final as I'm pretty sure about now there is a shortlist drawn up. Not sure.

Irrespective, I think the field is wide open.

Spain have got such a team thing going that the likes of Villa, Iniesta, Xavi, Puyol & Casillas must all be in the mix (and I've probably missed others out!).
Sneijder will probably be leading the Dutch charge. The Germans have been a bit like Spain. Lamm, Neuer, Mueller, Oezil and Schweinsteiger have all had their moments.
From the rest, Forlan has been a standout (you have to hand it to Suarez as well ker-ching). And that's before we even look at quarterfinalists.

Wide open, I reckon.

Anyone want to start a poll?

I know, I know, its serious!

No quarter finalist will win it. Not a chance.

Three for me, and two for them.

Indeed. Last non-finalist was in 1938!
