Seeing Leilei Gao this week and realising Ricki uses an interpreter to communicate with him got me thinking.
Can a player who speaks another language to the rest of his team really be coached?
Surely he would be missing out on so much communication that he would be gaining a lot less as a player than if he were with a Chinese-speaking team?
I would assume that it wouldn't take him too long to learn words like ball, kick, dribble, pass, shoot, goal, right?
Leilei's a great player and I'm glad we've got him.
Surely though, the onus is on the player to learn the language (as Daniel has been doing, for example)
Can anyone think of other examples?
The Aussies???
