Hey everyone, I thought this would be the best place to post this.  Some of our supporters, Timbers Army, have been digging through the internets and found your site with some information that is pertinent to our Club.  We've got ties to New Zealand football and rumor has it we might be getting more.

Portland Timbers Football Club
Portland, Oregon
Coach - Gavin Wilkinson
Defender - Cameron Knowles

We have read that we will be signing contracts with M-Bryan Little of Auckland, and F-Benjamin Totori of Waikitare.  Can anyone confirm that for us?

Thanks alot,
Zack

Yes Brysie is heading your way. Not sure what good he'll be to ya though.

Three for me, and two for them.

Why do you say that?  Is it his knee injury your concerned about?

PORTLAND, Ore. The Portland Timbers have signed midfielder Bryan Little for the 2008 season, it was announced today pending USSF and international clearance. Little joins the Timbers from Auckland City FC of the New Zealand Football Championship, where he was the teams leading scorer through early April.

Little, 29, appeared in 12 matches with Auckland City during the 2007-08 season and recorded a team-high eight goals through his final match with the club on April 12, including a hat trick in season opener on Nov. 4 against Manawatu. Little finished his season with Auckland among the leagues leading goal-scorers.

From Edinburgh, Scotland, Little began his professional career with the Berwick Rangers of the Scottish Second Division before moving his career to New Zealand in 2003. In 2006, he was a part of Auckland City FCs Oceania Club championship team and helped guide the team to the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup. Little won several titles during his time in New Zealand, including the 2003 National League championship with the Miramar Rangers and the Chatham Cup with Team Wellington in 2004.

With Little, the Timbers now have 22 signed roster players for the 2008 season. He began training with the team Monday.

Portland will honor long-time team icon Jim Serrill better known as Timber Jim on Timber Jim Retirement Night as the Timbers open their 2008 USL First Division campaign Thursday at PGE Park. The first 2,000 fans receive 2008 schedule magnets courtesy of PGE, and the first 1,000 will also receive a Farewell Timber Jim T-shirt presented by Shindaiwa. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Tickets, starting at $11, are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (503) 224-4400.

Pictures and video of Timber Jim's retirement.  Portland Timbers 1-0 over Puerto Rico.  Little saw action in the last 12 minutes of the match.  If you don't know Timber Jims story, pick up a copy of 4-4-2 theres an article that describes it.

Just looked at the MLS website - I see they've now split into an East & West Conf (or has it been that way for a while?)

Union were around last year, snappy new stadium under the bridge to new Jersey (McKinnon - I forget) and Fred last season.

I'm Union 'til they die.

I remember watching Gavin Wilkinson playing for Waikato some 10/15 years ago. Now there was a thug.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Worse is the ditching of their decent blue kit for an awful black one. Even worse is the existence of the fluro yellow third kit.

Since the first season, with the exception of a period where they had three conferences. Not going to change anytime soon either - they like having conference championships as extra big-events to attract sponsors, even though last season's "Eastern" final was between San Jose and Colorado

Confirmed, with NYC heavily rumoured as franchise #20.

Interesting to see they drew with La Galaxy in a per-season match today. I think they were using weakened squads though.

Seems there are a few PTFC fans here. Anyone keen to go down to Four Kings on sunday afternoon (3pm) for the game as a YF Timbers support group?

It shouldn't be to much an issue on a sunday.. I dunno, never reserved something at fourkings before. D:

If we ask they'll surely put ESPN on in a booth or in that upstairs room for us. There aren't any fights or other big events on at the same time so shouldn't be an issue.

Maybe we should reserve a booth. O6, would you be able to call and check or something? I'll PM you my number so you can keep me in the loop as I'm about to head off to a party. I'lll be happy to help where I can of course - nothing is going to get in the way of me watching this match!

Still keen, hopefully something can be organised, this is going to be a brilliant match. Sadly may be only able to watch 3/4 of the match as I'd have to be on the 5 train to pram in order to catch the last bus home.Azevo2011-05-14 19:45:09

gave FK a call.  No guarantee we'd be able to get commentary, def not downstairs at least.  Upstairs maybe.  But if 200 hundred people walked in wanting to see (and hear) the warriors game we'd be S**t out of luck.  Apparantely it's the first time anyone rang up about the MLS.   it wasn't worth booking a booth for 4 peeps.

Arghh timing.
