Awesome morning ahead.
Yellow Fever - Misery loves company
Awesome morning ahead.
2-1 win over the Flounders. Great first half, okay second half. Lucky not to concede a second and blow the two goal lead.
Interesting article about the tifo battle between Portland and Seattle.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/jun/28/portland-timbers-seattle-sounders-tifo-display
"At 20,000 sq ft, 1500lbs and requiring 66 riggers to hoist, Portland Timbers fans' latest tifo display, in honor of club legend Clive Charles, escalates an ongoing banner war with Seattle Sounders".
I've always wondered where they keep these after use..
O hai Seattle:

We will never fully decide who has won the football.
Spencer out. Gavin Wilkinson in.
Sounds unlikely. The Timbers have 10 names that they are going to talk to about the manager role, and there's been a bit of backlash in Portland concerning the fact that Wilkinson was given the temporary gig, let alone fulltime.
Wonder if we'll see Gavin take full control for the long term again...

10 names to talk to until the next offseason, chances are none of those 10 names will even be the one they appoint. This is football after all.
If Wilkinson manages to pull a Di Matteo (CL success not EPL), there should be no questions..

Imo, bring Gavin to the Zone poddy..
We will never fully decide who has won the football.
Hope Gavin is replaced soon and he can return to his other duties. Quite obvious from the get go that he didn't really want to be coach, think Paulson should of waited till end of the season or till a replacement was found.. maybe with Spencer something could have been salvaged, but of course one could say another coach or Gavin cold of done a better job.

Really thinking Perkins for Ricketts was a good deal, shouting a lot at the defenders to get where they should be etc. Organisation seems a lot better.
Nagbe is tear arse, looking so good atm.
We will never fully decide who has won the football.
2 GAME WINNING STREAK! Plus the Cascadia Cup is ours to lose now.
Be good to win something this season.
Just Seattle in the way now gulp..... Looking at the table.. Win or Draw will do us.
We will never fully decide who has won the football.
And... goneskies.
downed 3-0 by Colorado Crapids. Partly regretting what I said about Ricketts.. Gah.

That is the question.
Apparently Portland v Montreal on the 9th ofMarch will be live on the MLS website, not sure if its region blocked...

Am I the only one following these pre-season matches?

I've been enjoying pre season been good seeing The Crew winning for once as for those Timbers going ok.
3-3 with last seasons league winners..Though they have lost the majority of their team I believe.
Then a loss against Dallas yesterday.. I think mid table for Timbers this season.
Crew are gonna bomb out and go into administration then be liquidated. Signs are clear. ;p
We will never fully decide who has won the football.
Nagbe and Valeri, need I say more?
We will never fully decide who has won the football.
Just signed ex-West Ham striker Frederic Piquionne (who is actually born in New Caledonia)
Not sure about that signing, kind of like Earnshaw at Toronto, are they good enough to make an impact? I mean, look at what happened with Kris Boyd, more than qualified enough striker who should of been in his prime, yet extremely ineffective for the Timbers. Probably better off keeping Kenny Cooper.
Gotta pair those players with fantastic playmakers, Valeria and Nagbe are looking the goods.
However, ecstatic that it'll be live on ESPN!
We will never fully decide who has won the football.
About the same as last season, Donovan Ricketts is the first choice and 2nd looks as though it's between Jake and this guy from Serbia. Would hope he'd be first choice after/when Ricketts gets injured.

Great second half by the Timbers, ended 3-3, but could have been 5-3 after going into half time down 1-3.
If only the bicycle kick was on target...
I'll take a point, especially after going 3-1 down at the 30 min mark. Last years Timbers would have given up and would probably have lost 6-1 from that stage, but Porter had the players looking like they wanted to win the game, and they got reward from it. We were by far the better team (63% possesion!) but couldn't get that winning goal.
I'm excited for the rest of the season now.
Most well rounded performance have ever seen from them, I think Silvestre definitely improved second half, not too unexpected that happened, however his second half was a great recovery. Probably the most interesting thing about today was the defense, obviously it was going to be the talking point in the preview, especially when one of your keystones was playing his first game and even on turf. It was clear from pre-season the attack was going to be a nightmare for opposition, so many combinations that have formed between players, where as last season it just wasn't there, it was all on Boyd.
Hopefully this can sustain through the first 10-15 rounds, then we should know whether the team is going to prosper, it's all about those away games now.
We will never fully decide who has won the football.
Apparently GW has enquired about signing Michael Thwaite. Would be a very, very good signing considering how thin we are at CB.
Yep. Whoops. That feels like a loss (but yay, we are becoming disappointed with just a single point on the road).
Caught the last 20 minutes. The equaliser was always going to come. They sat back and just lumped the ball clear, it was just inviting San Jose to come attack them.

Good game so far, Dallas should be a man down after a Benitez headbutt.
Been meaning to ask, has Wilkinson been forgiven for taking so long to sort out a new manager? Porter seems to have worked wonders so far.
Massive crowd enthusiasm! Liked the wood-chopping touch when Timbers scored - which fired up the crowd again. Anything the Nix could learn from this? That big yellow chicken don't really do it for me.
