Our best front three are Burns, Krishna and AK. I don't think it helps a strikers confidence being benched, but I'm hoping he will be boosted by having more motivated players around him. He can clearly score with his feet, as per his time at the Roar and highlights package, I back him to get back into form.

We could play 2 strikers though, and put Burns and Lulu up front. I do think AK's movement has been good, even if he has made the most of his chances.

as good as krishna's been, i think it's a priority to play burns in his best spot on the right of either a front two or three. krishna would of course be the next name on the teamsheet

whatever they do in terms of personnel, there needs to be a plan and better movement between them. forget interchanging, they need to develop basic combination and movements. i.e. is AK meant to push defenders back or drop into space? I'd prefer the latter with Burns and Krishna hitting space between the centre backs and full backs or something like that

I thought AK looked decent earlier in the season when he was dropping deep into space, and facilitating a lot of the attacking play. That would have Krishna and Burns attacking the angles in-front of AK, that would definately suit them both a lot more as both their top goalscoring seasons for the Nix had them picking up the ball a lot more centrally than they have been recently.

Though if AK did that now he would be occupying the same space as Ljujic which is possibly why he is staying forward more. Other players such as WeeMac in the playmaker role seem to offer more lateral movement which gives a deep lying forward more space to utilise when dropping deep. I'd prefer any system which allows Burns and Krishna to play closer to goal.

we saw the benefits of AK dropping deeper in the 5-2 win against Perth. He was excellent that day, had two well taken goals but his part in Finkler's goal was crucial. Paracki got the ball deep in our half, and AK made a run back to make himself available. Krishna drifts wide and AK draws two defenders before swiveling and releasing Roy with a perfect ball which creates a 3 on 2 with Finkler and Vidosic getting into the 18 yard. Krishna cooked the cross a little and made it a bit difficult for Gui, but we still scored from it and AK operating deeper was vital in the move.

Both Vidosic and Krishna were much narrower in that game as well. The midfield seemed a lot more fluid, dragging players across the pitch allowing AK that space to drop into. I can understand if the move to more structure is an attempt to stop leaking so many goals, but I'd still like to see some tweaks up front to get Krishna and Burns closer to goal (without necessarily pushing AK to the bench).

pretty sure he becomes a kiwi for the 2020/21 season. He would be 32 by the start of that season, so it depends on whether he still has his pace by then to determine whether he'll still be around. I certainly hope he's still here by then. 32 isn't crazy old, and the fact that he only started playing professionally when he was 25 or 26 means he probably hasn't had the physical wear and tear of your average 30 year old pro. Would make him one of the greatest nix legends of all time too, even though he probably already is to be honest

Just look at how long Smeltz lasted.  He lost the speed towards the end but not his eye or his touch; and was an excellent late sub.

Heard through the grapevine Krishna's citizenship application isn't very impressive. From what I've heard through a couple degrees separation that one of (if not all?) of the question of why he was applying for citizenship was to 'bring in another import spot for the club' rather than the whole 'Roy feels like a Kiwi, has been here for years' type thing. (I'm not sure how the citizenship process works but I think this was the club answering the question)

This lowers my confidence that the appilcation will be approved but of course I really hope it does.

To be fair I don't recall a lot of 'personal' questions when I went through the process a few years ago.

They did check that you intend to live in NZ and that you've met the requirement but that's about it.

Still, if true those are pretty silly reasons (in Immigration NZ's eyes) to want to become a citizen!

To be fair, this sounds more like documentation provided by the club in support of Krishna's application (it's common for employers to do that), rather than Krishna's application itself.

It is I believe as while PRs have many of the same rights as fully fledged citizens, they remain foreign nationals.

When you become a citizen you have to swear allegiance to Queen and country and become entitled to a Kiwi passport.

In a way you can live here as a PR forever and becoming a citizen makes little difference.  I have a few friends whose country of birth doesn't allow dual citizenship.  These people came here at a young age and are basically Kiwis in every regard but they hold a foreign passport.

I'm a naturalised Kiwi and have never sworn allegiance to any queen - and never will.

1. You can vote as a permanent resident, but you cannot stand for the parliament.  The previous Greens leader Russell Norman, born in Brisbane, who came here to write his PhD in 1997, had to apply for NZ citizenship when he was was elected as a list member for the NZ Green Party.

2. Also, more importantly, you cannot be deported if you are a NZ citizen, except for immigration offences (i.e. your citizenship was obtained fraudulently, etc).

Oath of allegiance.  I guess you can cross your fingers behind your back, but you're still saying the words.

It's anachronistic BS I give you that, but  still part of the process and since you must attend a ceremony to become a citizen, I'm not sure how you avoided giving the oath.

Re: Roy, it is a big deal anyway as he will finally count as a Kiwi and free up a foreign spot.

If you are a UK citizen that became naturalised in New Zealand you already owe the Queen the allegiance by default, based on being born a royal subject.  No need to cross your fingers.

Nice one Dale.

What sums up Krishna for me was him making 3 strong sprints (and winning a couple of free kicks) from 85-95 mins v Perth when the rest of the team was completely dead on their feet.

I know its the covert agent and sometimes they're full of shark, but this doesn't seem all that unlikely. I'll be absolutely devastated when he does eventually leave though. No he's not on the same level as the absolute top tier imports but I love the man like I love Ifill
