Just over 12 hours to go until the big show gets under way. I for one, am far, far too exciting to be constructive at work

Good preview from the team at soccernet

I am not sure about this - think perhaps South Africa might get there with the emotion - what a start to the tournament if the Bafana Bafana boys can do it.

I am also excited to see young Chicharito get a run for Mexico, and show just why Sir Alex spent a fair bit of money on this guy.

Bring it on!

Heart says South Africa. Head says Mexico.

2-1 Mexico.

Three for me, and two for them.

Cannot wait. Have to support Bafana bafana on this one. The country will explode if they win.

2-1 South Africa. Under controversial circumstances.

I'm too excited, I can't work. I've got one story to write and then I can go home, but I can't get started. However, I can write a dozen football-related facebook statuses and posts on here, but when it comes to work I've got mad writer's block. I was planning on sleeping when I get home and then waking up before the game but I don't think it'll happen. I'm like a kid before Christmas!

Anyone but Rachel Hunter.

Also, 2-2. Banana to score in last couple of mins to snatch a point.

SA. More Evertonians than Mexico...
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Looking forward to chicarito popping up for a header to seal a 2-1 win for mexico. In hindsight our result against them in March was a good effort.

Mexico 3-1.  I don't like anything about South African sport and I hope they fail.

And HN, make sure our women isn't Hunter or Lisa 'attention-whore/general-whore' Lewis.

Because every white South African male I know is terribly arrogant about any success SA have - and these successes tend to be sporting (as far as I know).  It puts me off greatly.  In fact, most SA males I know tend to be very arrogant people.

Before anybody jumps up and down and says this is racist, I'll point out that I'm only referring to the people I know, not the whole people group, and I'm the only one qualified to speak for those I know as I suspect I'm the only one on here who knows them.

Sorry if the above paragraph seemed unnecessary, it should be unnecessary, but you get accused of racism for the most minor things these days.  So just covering my arse.

Also there's the fact that they didn't qualify for the WC and there's probably a fair chance they wouldn't have if they'd been required to go through qualification.
