Apparently Garang Kuol could debut for Hearts against St Mirren. His loan deal from Newcastle all signed off.

So could be up to 6 Socceroos running with/against Greive at Tynecastle.

Finished 1-0 Hearts.

For St Mirren - Greive & Baccus both off at 67 mins (1-0).
For Hearts - Full game Rowles. Devlin on at 60 mins (1-0). Wunderkid Kuol debuts in the UK on at 77 mins. Atkinson an unused sub.

So Kiwi Greive didn't get to matchup against Kuol.

Next for Saints (6th) is a trip to top of the table Celtic, who are a whooping 31 points ahead of them on the table!

From Flying Kiwis. Highlights of the pen shootout from someon'e cellphone.
Greive with the 3rd pen for Sainyt Mirren in hoops. Looks like a little gesture skywards presumably for his Dad after converts his pen.

Unfortunately Saints have drawn Celtic in the next Cup round.

No surprises SM cope a 5-1 hiding. Though was only 1-0 until 75th min when SM went down to 10 men

Greive came off in 41st min (1-0) hopefully nothing serious if an injury.

Of the obligatory Aussies, Mooy (assist for first goal) started for Celtic, Baccus & Strain for SM

Saints almost levelled just two minutes later when Greive did well to turn Carl Starfelt in the box and his effort looked like it was heading for the far corner of the net, only for Cameron Carter-Vickers to head clear the danger. Carter-Vickers was the man alert again for the hosts on 33 minutes when his vital interception denied Greive the chance to go one-on-one with Joe Hart in the Celtic goal.

St Mirren were also forced into a change a few minutes before half-time when Greive couldn't continue after going down with an ankle injury.

Tomorrow St Mirren (6th) travel to Motherwell (11th).
Seems unlikely Greive will be fit.

Game seems to be all Celtic. St Mirren news was embellishing their chances a little...

As expected no Greive as St Mirren travel to Motherwell.
Strain (has SM's goal) & Baccus both start, as Motherwell lead 2-1 at HT.

9 rounds (incl this one) to go before SPL splits into a top 6, bottom 6 (Relegation round). So St Mirren in 6th, with plenty to play for over next 1-2 months.

Edit - finished 2-1 Motherwell

From Flying Kiwis

Stephen Robinson, St Mirren Manager: “We are hoping it will not be quite so serious but it will still be three weeks. We were fearing it could maybe be an end-of-season job. But we are looking at three to four weeks with Alex. So that is a huge boost for us considering we don't have loads and loads of options.”

Good news there. Not sure that window will get him back into contention for the All Whites but it does mean he should be back comfortably in time to help finish off the campaign. The Buddies drew 1-1 away to ten-man St Johnstone this week thanks to an 86th minute Alex Gogic equaliser.

For 38 mins it’s great news for Greive. He starts - so back sooner than expected from injury - and SM lead 1-0, an upset on the cards.

Then a SM defender gets a straight red, and Alex comes off at HT in a reshuffle. Celtic take over from there with 5 unanswered 2nd half goals for a 5-1 romp. Mooy with 2 assists before he goes off at 4-1. Wonder if he will make the 2026 WC, will be 35 by then, and very much a key Socceroo nowadays

Nice to see Greive back. Baccus and Strain both started as well

Highlights below.

Greive actually wins the pen (ball up into the hand of a Celtic player) for St Mirren to go 1-0 up after 5 mins. Unless you are a Hoops fan stop watching after that.

St Mirren were very well organised without the ball and Grieve played his part well. He was mostly marked by the giant Cameron Carter-Vickers, who didn't really give him a look in despite Grieve's movement and timing being pretty good.

The sending off really stuffed St Mirren. The gulf between the sides was large enough when it was 11 on 11.

Interesting stat. I guess in the past as soon as anyone got near the Scottish team they were off to a bigger club/The Old Firm.

Greive with some current Socceroos (Strain & Baccus) to jostle with to keep this record, for next wee while maybe. Baccus more a future regular Socceroo perhaps.

Greive subbed on at 68 mins (3-0) in a 3-0 win. Socceroos Baccus & Strain both started for St Mirren.

Greive likely copped a bit of good natured flak this week about his pen against China!
