Thoughts after the game from Alex. He grabbed an assist for their 3rd goal too.

Great to see him come back in to some semblance of form of late as well. Will hopefully keep up the good work as the season moves towards its end, and given he's out of contract with St Mirren at seasons end.

Greive starting, but it ain't going well. Dundee United, down 3-0 after 65 mins.

Edit - finished 3-1. Greive a full game.

75 mins (1-1) in a 1-1 draw.
Next promotion rivals Raith Rovers, in a big game.

2-0 win for Dundee U, to go 4 pts clear. Raith Rovers with a game in hand.
Greive with token 90th min sub appearance. None of the Kiwis in Scotland doing much.

I guess this must have been mentioned, but this is both odd and hilarious:

Apparently and somewhat disappointingly related to a tour in the 1970s where they lost to a bunch of amateur teams.

QI, great show. The episode with the story, about how it wasn't until about the 3rd attempt that Darwin or someone managed to get a rare turtle successfully shipped to the UK from Sth America or somewhere - a favourite. With previous attempts the protein deprived British sailors, had found the turtles too delicious not to eat enroute!

And off injured in the 90 th.

No Greive as Dundee U win 4-1. As above sounds like Greive went off injured in the last game.

Dundee United (1st) looking a good bet now for that automatic promotion spot.
7 pts clear of Raith Rovers (2nd) with 3 games left. Though Raith have a game in hand (play tonight)

Dundee United (1st) draw 0-0 at Airdrieonians (4th). No Greive.

Result confirms Dundee United as promoted to the SPL with 1 game left.

Would he be better off coming home to Auckland?  Same goes for all the other kiwis doing SFA in summerless Scotland.

Greive yes I think so. He’ll likely be a bench player in SPL with either DU or St Mirren. He comes off contract with SM soon, and doubt they will re-sign him

Elliot you suspect is Auckland bound

McGarry still contracted 2 more years at the Dons, and it’s rumoured Auckland have signed Francis de Vries at LB

In the 60s or 70s United sent a team to Nigeria for an end of season tour. Story was that the United team treated it like a lads away trip. Anyway they played a couple of games and got hammered and the Nigerians basically started using Dundee United as an insult or to describe when something was awful - like "man that was so bad it was Dundee United" or something like that
Aberdeen fans always seem to tell us that story....

Dundee U win 4-1, and the season is over. No Greive.

Seems almost certain St Mirren won't re-sign him. Will promoted DU offer him a gig? He has good SPL experience, but didn't really do much for them.

On the radar of Auckland FC?  We'll find out soon enough.

Contract with St Mirren expires next month.

Chance of an AWs recall for June's OFC Nations Cup with Wood (and maybe others) unavailable

I've said previously that he'd be a great signing for Auckland.

I'm pretty sure we're going to be seeing him announced when Auckland start unveiling their signings over the next little while.

Racing onto Zawada knock downs.

Might get an AWs recall in Wood's absence. Though Andre De Jong has been beating down the door a bit.

As alerted to me by RR, Socceroos Ryan Strain & Keanu Baccus have also left St Mirren.

Baccus has already signed for Mansfield Town on a two-year deal.
MT finished 3rd in League Two, and got promoted to League One for next season.
Baccus is probably a bit embarrassed about his older bro Kearyn, at the moment.

The fact that Baccus has gone to a team quite far down the English pyramid shows how far off the pace the Scottish Prem is outside of Glasgow. As you say, a gig in his home town is probably better for him then staying in GB.

And Baccus is now almost a first choice Socceroo (started most of their Qatar WC games) who was a locked in starter at St Mirren. Surprised he's only ended up at a promoted League One side, thought he'd be better than that.

Greive got loaned out by SM, so unless promoted Dundee United want to sign him, Auckland FC is yes likely his best bet.

Could also be an option at the Nix!

I don’t think the Nix will be signing any kiwi’s unless it’s a spot we cannot fill with an academy player or import. Supyk will be the back up striker.

Even though its winter back home now, Auckland looks warmer then here in SE England. Fudgeing freezing today!

I hope he's going to be one of the new AFC announcements.

Last weekend was a massive storm requiring clean up in many places across Auckland! Just before you pack it in and move back 😆

From Niche Cache.

Greive is out of contract at St Mirren... though strangely NZF have him listed as a Dundee United player which is where he’d been out on loan. The suspicion is that he’ll re-sign there permanently now that they’ve been promoted but that’s not been announced or anything. Could be an error from NZF or it could be that they’ve let the cat out of the bag.

Stumbled upon this one for Alex.
Unattached FC >> Bohemian FC (League of Ireland Premier Division).

Hard to tell if underwhelming or if he's finding his level. He's struggled to hit any real great heights in recent times, so perhaps this move helps him find his feet once more in Europe before eyeing up another move? He'll have to hit the ground running though...

Some corners saying this deal is already done as well. Guess they're waiting on him to make his way back from Nations Cup duty, with perhaps a couple of days off in between?

For what it's worth, he follows Bohs and a couple of their players on instagram too, so there is that.

Don't know where I sit on this one to be honest - Thought he was going to make a real fist of having a solid European career after heading over to Scotland. Just hasn't panned out that way unfortunately.

League of Ireland beginning to feel like some weird purgatory for All Whites talents. Still a contract in Europe is a contract in Europe.
