Also basically happened with Eli Just when he was at Horsens. They refused to sell him to IFK Göteborg in Sweden in 2024, a move he badly wanted at the time.

How long does he have on his contract?
I like McCowatt but just wish he got these numbers a lot earlier in his career. At 27 his looking for a nice big contract. Minny would be sideways move but a nice cheque day.
Success was never in doubt moving from the ALM to another 3 tier League.

It's rumoured 35 yr old James may now retire.
And McCowatt ain't a striker. Only bottom placed Sporting Kansas have scored fewer goals this season than Minnesota in the Western Conference.

Didn't release he was there for only 3 months.
I know his not a striker but new Minny was looking for a goalscorer from the midfield. That's why they were bidding for Adj's teammate Mofokeng(21) but he went to Belgium for Champions League football.
But without James they going to need a striker?

Little bit of a 'flat track bully'? ie have a feeling most of his assists & goals are against the weaker teams in the SuperLiga.

Silkeborg have turned down a $2 million USD ($1.5m up front + $500k add ons) from Minnesota a few days back.

Offer feels like it might be approaching the sweet spot, but Silkeborg may feel like it's $500k-$1m short for their best player. I don't know if they'll be able to squeeze too much more out of the Loon's setup either as that fee would be towards the higher end of what they've hostorically paid for players they've brought in.
Interesting times with both the MLS and Danish transfer window's closing in a week or so. So i guess the question remains - Does Callum get his sought after move?

Is the MLS a better standard than the SuperLiga? I guess there's more money on offer, and living in America has its benefits. But footballing wise, is it a step up?

It's an interesting question. Glasgow Rangers coach, McInnes recently made a comment about the MLS, when discussing South African new signing, Makhanya from Philadelphia Union.
"Very much so, to be honest,” said McInnes in the post-match press conference. “He has come from the MLS, which is a different type of football.

My view is that the Superliga and MLS are about the same level which is definitely higher than the Scottish League. Within the next 3-5 years it won't be though. Their academies are going to improve the standard of most American players which will put MLS within the Top 5 leagues.

recent opta league ranking I saw had MLS a few places above superliga in 2025 and superliga right above MLS in 2026.

The Loons haven’t given up on that transfer yet, into the last week of the European window, having lodged another bid in recent days. The first one was undisclosed but estimated to be around €1m. That was rejected. The new one was for around €1.28m with an additional €426k in bonuses (US$1.5m with $500k bonuses). That was also rejected. McCowatt is Silkeborg’s best player and he’s under contract for another year therefore they’re under no pressure to sell him for anything below their valuation and in the past five years they’ve sold six separate dudes for bigger fees than what the Loons have offered so far (the record being €4m for Alexander Lind from Pisa in 2024). In other words, if Minnesota Utd combines those two bids then they might have a shot but what they’ve offered to date ain’t gonna cut it.

We want the right price for Callum, and if it does not come, well we are only happy to keep him. We will not be pressured to sell a player even though he would like to try something new. There has been a complication for Minnesota United with their football director (“Chief Soccer Officer” in local terminology) Khaled El-Ahmad leaving imminently for Austin FC and an interim fella taking over that role in the meantime. Sounds like a stitch-up with the timing but that could be a good thing given how Minnesota Utd have been lowballing these McCowatt offers.
Mentioned before that McCowatt has scored a lot of goals for SIF... the actual number is 30 goals in 111 matches (24 goals in 92 games specifically in Superliga).

Saw something on social media linking him to FC Tokyo in the J League - Account/s not particularly reputable mind you - but I think it at least shows he's in demand from more than just Minnesota United.

AGF head coach is one-time Victory midfielder Jakob Poulsen. McCowatt and Poulsen faced off against each other twice, both at AAMI Park in late 2019.
Poulsen the full 90 on both occasions, and, and McCowatt with 76 mins in one match and 9 mins off the bench. Stretch to think he remembers the guy, cool connection nonetheless
