I wonder if this will increase Bindon and Stamenic chances of being called into squad? Not as much money given to them in the 3rd tier(?) to bolster the squad may make do with who’s already on the books?

That's a good point. A small silver lining in a depressing result (especially depressing given Wood missed a couple of excellent chances).

Also they will be an excellent chance at winning the Conference League next season.

Three for me, and two for them.

So close- but if I’m reading it correctly a draw would only get them what they’re getting anyway? Newcastle go to the Champions League and Forest get their Europa League place?

Forest missed Hudson-Odoi in the last 5-6 games.

Big Picture: twenty goal season and Forest in European competition!
A draw would have got them even with Villa and into Europa on goal difference... But the loss means it's the conference.

Ahh the website had incorrect info initially.

Agree with this. Winning the title should be the goal of every English team in this competition (the EPL arguably shouldn’t even get a slot but that’s for another day). Exciting season ahead I reckon.

I’m a bit worried for next season. This year he was under the radar, had a great preseason and was getting married. Very happy at home and focused with Forest.

I’m also concerned if Elanga has a form dip or particularly if Gibbs-White leaves. Or Aina.

Stoked if they can achieve, but think it may be Forest’s difficult second album.

Hope they can prove me wrong and bring in some good reinforcements!

Lightening does not strike twice. I think they've blown the only chance they'll get (while Wood is around at least)

Not as much dosh as the Champions League or Europa League but still a nice little earner:
https://www.givemesport.com/europa-conference-league-prize-money/
2024/25 Conference League Prize Money Breakdown
Stage | Prize Money
League stage qualification | £2.6 million
Any win: £336,000
Any draw: £112,000
Knock-out play-offs round | £168,000
Round of 16 qualification | £672,500
Quarter-finals qualification | £1.1 million
Semi-finals qualification | £2.1 million
Reaching the Conference League final | £3.5 million
Winning the Conference League | £2.5 million

About £15 million in total if you win it (depending on your number of wins and draws in the league stage).

Just a point of order- I knew Wood had had European football with Burnley, but hadn’t realised that he’d finished 7th then too.

It looks like a tough ask to do better than that now. So much more competition. Forest really let a big chance slip. Really disappointed that Jota and Sosa didn’t step up to the mark when Hudson-Odoi got injured. They needed one back up impact player.

03 Jun 07:47
He also played in the Europa League with Birmingham, scoring twice.
03 Jun 07:54
Birmingham actually made the group stage as well didn't they? Pretty sure Burnley didn't.

Three for me, and two for them.

Brazilian striker Igor Jesus (24) from Botafogo has officially signed for Forest, pre-season starts Monday according to Nottinghamshire Live.

Jesus will be lucky to have such a great and experienced mentor in Woodsy.

As long as they stick close together. We don’t want Jesus getting on a Woodsy cross.

Wow! Exciting times at Forest with the impressive guy I've seen in the Club World Cup, Igor Jesus lining up alongside Woodsy next season.
More fans will soon be able to watch them as the Forest owner launches the first phase of a stadium expansion:
https://allbankscode.com/2025/06/27/marinakis-unveils-30m-masterplan-to-transform-nottingham-forests-iconic-home-into-a-50000-seat-powerhouse-2/
"In a historic announcement, Nottingham Forest Football Club has revealed a comprehensive expansion plan for its beloved City Ground stadium, with a £30 million investment earmarked for the initial phase. The project, spearheaded by the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, aims to increase the stadium’s capacity to 35,000 seats, with a long-term vision of reaching 50,000 seats....
....The first phase of the expansion focuses on the Peter Taylor Stand, which will undergo a significant transformation to add 5,000 seats to the existing capacity. This relatively modest increase is expected to have a substantial impact on the club’s finances, with projected matchday revenue set to rise by £2.6 million annually."

I wonder how Woodsy feels seeing Elanga and now Gibbs-White being sold.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Yeah not good, two of their best players gone. And competition for his spot up front now.
11 Jul 00:24
It’s a shame they didn’t get that champions league place. With that can’t see those two transfers happening

Auckland will rise once more

Big news for Wood and Forest with Crystal Palace being demoted from the Europa League. Pending an appeal Forest are set to take their place, so a third Europa League campaign for Wood.
11 Jul 22:51
I hope Palace win their appeal. Nonsense decision.

Three for me, and two for them.

11 Jul 23:04
As a general football fan I want palace to have Europa league, but as a Kiwi and massive Woodsy fan I want him to to play against the best teams he can in the time he has left and the very top level.
Annual finals disappointment enthusiast.

Was worried about this. That’s his two main sources of assists and the two guys most on his wavelength gone. Woodsy should have had assists from Elliot Anderson, but he’s managed to shell every chance from him!

It feels like basically a start again moment.

Hmm. Yes on the other hand if it’s not the Champion’s League, I’d be happy with them winning the Conference League!

Possibly not for Gibbs-White, Forest are threatening legal action as they apparently hadn’t given permission for anyone to speak to him. Busy few weeks for their lawyers between that and narking on Palace.

Don’t know the Forest squad in depth at all. But without those two (esp Elanga) Forest could really struggle. Throw in Europe games and a heavier workload they could become relegation battlers again. All depends who they buy in I guess

Gibbs-White leaving to help Stamenic’s chances of staying this season??
12 Jul 09:38
Think Stamenić has a very good chance to stay and become a squad player. Danilo rumoured to go to Lyon despite their recent financial crisis.

Nico Dominguez expected to miss the start of the season with knee surgery. Leaves the deeper midfield very thin for Forest with Yates and Sangere. O’Brien is expected to be moved on which could be a gateway for Stamenic to join the squad, however with recent sales of Elanga and Gibbs White they could splash big on a midfielder or two.

Id love him to stay and get a crack at breaking into the side but isn't he being loaned out to Swansea? With Gibbs-white leaving it'd be great for Wood to have some familiarity to replace that great partnership form last season?

Nottingham Forest friendlies coming up Sunday am and Thursday next week on BeIN Sport:
https://connect-nz.beinsports.com/en/competition/club-friendly-matches
vs.Fulham
vs. Estoril

Wonder if they will play Olympiakos. I think it was their last pre season game in 2024. And from memory Wood scored and generally was threat. Precursor to the EPL season that followed.

Got the only goal for Forest off the bench in a 3-1 friendly loss to Fulham.

Igor Jesus also made his debut and Awoniyi was back, started and played the full game which is good to see after what happened to him.
