Am missing a good Chris Wood goal. Didn’t have to wait that long for them last season!

One positive is that the strikers haven’t been the main goal scorers, so he hasn’t been pushed out of the team.

According to FF, Wood’s got a knee injury with an unknown return date. 😔

At least we had the best scoring run by a Kiwi striker to cheer us up after last year’s Nix.

Unfortunately no Wood.

Sean Dyche: “Chris Wood is getting re-scanned but it is good news so far. Being re-scanned is just part of the process, there is nothing untoward about it — it is just a check-up. It is just a settling period, it is nothing too serious, it is a grumbling knee. It is serious enough to stop him from loading it; from loading in daily training. But it is settling down. Part of the recovery is to have it rescanned to see where it is at. He is feeling good in himself, which is always a good sign. We are managing to keep his fitness levels up in the gym. It has just taken a bit of a period for the injury to calm down. We hope we are towards the end of that period.”

That doesn’t sound like a young person injury…

Now up 3-0. Woodsy might struggle to get back in this team at this rate! Hope for their sake they can ride this new manager bounce. They’ve certainly got some depth.

His relationship with Dyche won't do his chances of getting back in the team any harm.

Malmö FF were only 6th in this year's Allsvenskan and sit 34th of 36 teams in the Europa League.

Dyche won't be fooled by beating them easily. Let's see how Forest go at Brighton this weekend, presumably still sans Wood.

Better a grumbling knee than a cranky elbow I guess!

Come on Woodsy!

Niche Cache.

Sean Dyche: “It is just a settling down period. It is a tricky knee injury. It just needs time. There is nothing we can do to fast forward it at the moment. He (Wood) is feeling better in himself. It is a deloading phase so he can keep some form of fitness but not the pounding. We are waiting for it to settle enough where he can continue his work. It is just a bit of a waiting game at the minute.”

Frustrating.

New Zealand captain Chris Wood appears likely to be sidelined longer than first anticipated with his knee injury.

Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche won’t put a timeframe on Wood’s return to fitness, but has indicated his recovery process is in its early stages.

“We are not putting any timescale on it,” Dyche told a media briefing ahead of Forest’s English Premier League fixture at Everton.

“It is slowly, slowly and carefully, carefully.

“But he is making some progress. We are just starting him back on the real pathway after a rest period of settling things down.

“We are hopeful it is going in the right direction, but it is very early yet.”

Has he passed his used by date? Injuries aside, how many goals for the AW's? Too many expect him to score a hat trick every game but the reality is, He can't and I don't blame him. He's 34 and a striker. As for the AW's, Whilst hoping to progress at the World Cup, I can't see it as no one else is consistently on the score sheet. It's like, let's set this up and pass it to Chris. Bazeley was lucky there for a while but how many more 1-0 losses do we put up with before the Emperors new clothes get revealed. Too much pressure on Woods to deliver and this injury could really affect him after his rehab.

Forest lost 3-0, and drop to 17th. One spot above the drop zone.

Nuts to even suggest the Woodsman is past his used by date. He just needs an injury free phase.

This year the AWs may have scored as many goals against bigger teams with Wood off the field, as him on it. So evolving tactics that don't rely on him.

5 goals in total over 8 games, since June.
Just, Stamenic, Surman & Old. One for the Woodsman.

Does anyone know someone who has had a grumbling knee? Most other injuries we know a little about. Anyone? More info?

IIRC most fan grumbling has been about him getting injured while on NZ duty, but I could be wrong

Yet some still dont get why clubs can sometimes be reluctant to release players for what are mostly meaningless friendlies.
