2nd goal totally should have stood, no way Wood fouls the Leicester defender.
Dare I say it, I think VAR opens the gates for all kinds of potential corruption, what with the huge amounts gambled on games.
That's a goal all day.

Nah VAR or any sports video review system, causes everything to be slowed down (ie not in real time) - so that even incredibly minor touches/bumps can seem illegal.
Unless the officials have a real strong 'feel for the game', then dumb decisions can be made. That's whats happened here.

I'm not saying this was an occasion, but the ability to chalk goals off like that really is a powerful thing.

How is that different to before when a referee could do what they like or claim they haven't seen something? Now it is different with replays everywhere you can't feign ignorance.

Deliberation time and that that's your only responsibility, and a much vaster array of angles and views. But I guess the public gets the same to judge them.
Not in match day squad as Burnley lose 2-4 to Chelsea.
Clarets down 0-4 until 86 mins
US wunderkid Pulisic with a hat trick, for the Blues.
Wood injured?

There were reports ahead of the match that he had a tightness in a calf.

Yes hammy. Hopefully nothing major, with AWs games approaching.
Has some history with hamstring strains of course.
Still injured as it turns out.
Missing as Burnley lose 3-0 at Sheffield United.
tell ya what- seems to have a decent boss
Scored Burnley's second in a 3-0 win over West Ham.
Mocked VAR (okay, parodied) during his celebration.
5 goals over his last 5 EPL games.
May have done his Kiwi team mate Reid a favour, as he seeks to break into Hammers match day squads.
only watched highlights but, Great finishing by Wood. Both the goal and the disallowed goal.
Hes looking fit and sharp for AW match coming up.

Interesting where they put the VAR lines on his offside goal. Looking at the defender I'd say the initial line they put down which Wood was in front of, was perhaps 2 or 3 inches short of where the defender's shoulder was (not counting the foot mind you which is obstructed)
And for Wood's line (thin yellow line below) they've put it on the tip of his knee when it looks like clearly his upper body and head is closer to goal.
In this case it makes no difference to me, narrowly offside - but it makes you question their margins of error when they can't even decide what part of the body is closer to goal from certain angles - let alone if a part of the body is obstructed by a defender as the right boot is in the first pic.
In conclusion: VAR is bullshark, bro

Isn't it the blue line that lines up with the forward most body part for each player? The knee for the defender and Wood's head, the yellow line takes into account the angle of the camera/pitch to compare the relative positions. The issue for me in this is still the margin of error though, given that if the defender was standing in a natural position with no player ahead of him, his foot would be in a position to put Wood onside. On-field decision should have been used.
Damn shame too as it was a freaking sumptuous goal.

Yeah true, guess that makes more sense. The blue line is still so hard to trust! Haha
Considering the offside toe in the Spurs v Sheffield game, and here we can't see the whole defending player - it is inconclusive

edit: even found his way into the West Ham review.
What is “the West Ham way”? Playing attacking football, beating good teams, losing to bad teams, and being terrorised by Chris Wood.

Jarrod Gillett the 4th offical.
With 7 matches to go in 2019, you wouldn't put it past Wood to make it into double figures before then. That would put him into the top echelon of current EPL stikers in my opinion.

He's having a great season so far, even if he started off a little slowly. If it wasn't for VAR (1 correct and 1 incorrect), then he'd be sitting pretty at 8 already.
Would be fantastic if he could have a 15-20 goal season. I can't quite put my finger on it, but for some reason he just looks hungry. Long may it continue!

Always a good chart to see how things are going with him. Good shot conversion and edging Barnes for minutes per goal
Credit to him, he's just got more and more consistent every year. I didn't think he had it in him to perform in the EPL like he has; will gladly eat my words.
Wood is the kiwi who has had the greatest impact in the pl

Nelsen was captain at Blackburn for a while and played over 200 epl games... It's hard to compare strikers vs defenders but at this stage I don't think you can say Wood has had a bigger impact.

Almost forgot that happened to be honest - is a bit more major for me thinking back
Not this week for Burnley and the Woodsman.
A 0-2 nil slip up at home to Cystal Palace.
Full game for Wood, with Barnes replaced at 62 mins by Jai Rodriguez.
Burnley 8th.
Dyche goes defensive as Burnley host Man City.
Barnes goes to the bench, and Wood starts alone upfront.
Currently 3-0 to Citeh - Woodsman subbed off in the 59th minute when City were 2-0 up. 15' or so left to play.

Finished 1-4 for Burnley (drop to 11th), with a paltry 24% possession! Too negative a setup by Dyche?.
Brady with a 87th min consolation.
Next up away to Spurs.
Whenever Dyche gets scared and sets up like that, they inevitably lose; you'd think he would learn.
City's defence is sharke, they should've just gone for it.
Dyche sets Burnley up with more positive intent, for a visit to Spurs.
Jai Rodriguez upfront with Wood. Barnes out with an injury.
However another spanking from one of the top EPL sides. Tottenham with a 5-0 win.
Wood replaced at 65 mins, by Vydra (who's barely played this season to date), with score 4-0.
Will be important to Burnley they get some momentum back when hosting Newcastle next weekend. Away to Bournemouth & Everton after that. Put these couple of recent thrashings behind them.
