Expect some pressure from Leeds not to go down under for Fiji games

Let's face it Leeds have not been this close to EPL promotion for long time. A fit Wood is now hugely valuable to them

Is he now universally loved by the Leads fans or are there still some naysayers

Still some naysayers who are saying that he's only scoring goals because the team is setup around him. Most people now rubbish them and some of the former naysayers are reformed.

25 goals this season is impressive and Leeds are 4th. A very good record, slightly tarnished by being held goalless by a wonderful QPR performance this morning!

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Picked as one of F365’s top ten players in the Championship:

http://www.football365.com/news/f365s-top-ten-players-in-the-championship

5. Chris Wood (Leeds United)
Robert Earnshaw. Jordan Rhodes. Ross McCormack. Danny Graham. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake. Nathan Ellington. Cameron Jerome. David Nugent. This is the unfortunate band of brothers – the strikers who are good enough to thrive in the second tier but not talented enough to even survive in the top flight.

Until this season, Chris Wood would have justified inclusion in that list. Yet his goalscoring record at Leeds has been so impressive that a Premier League club may well be tempted into testing the theory this summer, should Leeds not gain promotion. He is the current top scorer in the division.

Wood is also somehow only 25, despite playing his first Premier League game in April 2009. He has had loan spells at six different Football League clubs, but finally found a happy home at Leeds. 35 goals in 70 league games have followed. Is this the start of a new norm, or a brief purple patch?

You know, if he keeps this up he's going to finish the season pretty close to having the championship goal scoring record which is currently 30

I caught the last 30 minutes of Leeds last game and Wood's penalty...go Woodsy. !!!!! He must be top scorer in any Div in England?????

So that evening I turned on TV1 sports news to watch the glowing reports of kiwi Chris...football star in England. What did I see.....zilch, zero, nothing. Instead boring shiite about shotputters etc. What is the probelm with NZ sports media? are they that paranoid about football???

Chris should be a NZ sporting icon

Nice article on Wood in todays Guardian as well. Even the Oz press have picked up on it. Lamenting the fact that with Wood and Reid the AW"s have two players at a higher level than any Socceroo

The only way he would get that sort of coverage was if he did it in the Prem.

Being linked with Everton as a Lukaku replacement if he goes

If Everton came for you, you'd have to go wouldn't you? They are unlikely to be relegated, are a good club and possibly a good fit for him. While it would be nice to win promotion with Leeds, its not guaranteed and he could very well end up being discarded like he was at Leicester. 15m quid is a lot for Leeds to turn down too, not a bad profit.

So Chris Wood copped "a knock" and returned to the UK before tonights All Whites game?

Sounds suspiciously like the "knocks" Harry Kewell used to suffer when he was playing for Leeds around the time of an International fixture. I get the feeling they didn't want their potentially lucrative asset to arrive back actually damaged so called him back.

doesnt fit with Wood's approach and commitment that he would go back unless totally crocked which he did not seem to be on Saturday.

Maybe he had to report to Everton for a medical ?

He got smacked in the back of the head in the game in Fiji.

Also, if he had a medical at Everton that absolutely should be his priority!

I suspect that we wanted to keep Leeds on side for the upcoming friendlies etc., which is fair enough. We didn't need him tonight, and I don't think his commitment should be called into question.

That's right, he didn't bugger off to his sister's wedding after all.

That's right, he didn't bugger off to his sister's wedding after all.

The wedding specifically scheduled to be after the Nations Cup, then had the Nations Cup rescheduled to clash with it?

Yeah, that's right. I'm sure they planned the wedding around Chris's commitments and then the OFC buggered it up, obviously it's pretty difficuilt to change a wedding at short notice, you can't hold that against him.

Wood recovers from his AWs niggle to play 90 mins in 0-1 loss to Reading, as Leeds swap places (now 5th) with Royals (now 4th) on table.

Should never have started, but unfortunately Leeds are a one trick pony show ,no Woods no show!
Injured and knackered maybe tells you something about the depth of the squad at Elland Road!
