Good signs for his club Sankt Polten to win easily 4-0 away at a team 3rd on the table. Maybe they can yet go on a promotion push.

Only 4 league games left before the winter break that goes to late February.

He loves that cut in from the right. Another goal today to make it 7 in 9. Him and Wood are on fire.

There is a big caveat though.

He's playing almost pub football in Austria, or banging them in against OFC amateurs. He has time plus space to cut back in, pick his spot, and smack them in beautifully off that left peg.

Stamenic puts him through on goal on a bigger stage against the USA, Just has to make a split second decision, he chooses to shoot rather than cross to Wood, and the American GK makes the save.

Lets see how Eli is going in 12 months, against bigger teams than Samoa or the Sturm Graz reserves. But yes cross fingers this is the start of him getting to a higher level.

Sankt Polten (8th) host Floridsdorfer AC (12th). Last game before the long winter break, with league resuming mid February.

Seems only 1 team is promoted from the 2nd tier, and St. Pölten are 13 pts behind Admira Wacker in 1st spot. So already seems little to play for, apart from avoiding relegation?? Bit of a dumb setup if so.

Last 3 teams get relegated, and 3 winners of 3rd tier regional leagues (semi pro) get promoted if they are deemed financially strong enough to be in the 2nd tier.

Just scored his fourth goal of the season, which proved to be the winner in a 3-2 win.

St Polten will go into the winter break somewhere between 7th-9th. Teams below to play overnight.

His Danish parent club Horsens are 4th in the Danish 2nd tier, still firmly in the promotion mix, being 6 points off 2nd (top 2 teams promoted). Though Just didn't seem happy there, so you'd think unlikely he'll be recalled from his loan despite his good form, and his Austrian club likely not having that much to play for once the league there resumes.

Hopefully he's caught the eye of a club in the Austrian top tier.

He’s had a good run- got his confidence up. Anything can happen when you had a highlights reel like his..

I thought he was “on loan with option to buy” I’d say if they have that open to him they would sign him as they have improved greatly with him playing, obviously I’d prefer him to go to a higher league but it might not be an option

It's strange that he's loaned to a league that's probably on par or better than the one he was in.

If he keeps killing it in this league surely someone better will come grab him.

Do we dare to dream or is that more likely a came home for Christmas scenario?

Looked to me like his family were there to see him off. So I'd go with home for Christmas too.

My understanding (and I could be wrong) he had some interest from another team in a higher league, he wanted to transfer but the club/coach didn’t want him to go, then they went on a string of wins got safe so as abit of a F U they sent him off, I think at that point he was only getting minutes in the feild so was happy to pack his bags

He had interest from a top tier Swedish club (can't remember the team off top of my head) but the deal was scuppered because the Danish window had already closed and Horsens wouldn't have been able to bring in a replacement if he left.

Probably caused a little resentment on Eli Just's part towards his Danish club to be fair.

Niche Cache

Back at it after the long winter break... and he promptly
got injured. Elijah Just only lasted 37 minutes of St. Pölten’s trip to Lustenau before signalling to the bench and dropping to the ground. This happened off the ball. It wasn’t a case of a stinger challenge or anything. There was no obvious origin point at all which suggests a muscle issue, though hopefully not a bad one since he didn’t appear to be limping too badly.

Even still, this would have to put his place in the All Whites squad for the World Cup Qualifiers in serious doubt.

3-1 win St Polten, but no Just who must yes be in doubt for the AWs
14 Mar 21:52
Just’s entry into the game at 66 mins (SP down 0-1) a forerunner to a flurry of action

Finishes 3-3

St Polten (5th) travel to Admira Wacker (1st).

Unfortunately seems like only the league winners are promoted from the 2nd tier to Austrian Bundesliga. With 10 games left league leaders Admira Wacker are 15 pts clear of St Polten, so Polten's promotion hopes are in reality pretty slim

https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2025/03/28/austria/1-liga/fc-admira-wacker-modling/skn-sankt-polten/4386135/

Ironically back in the Danish 2nd tier Just's parent club Horsens (3rd, 40 pts) are in a battle with Fredericia (2nd, 40 pts) for promotion. Top 2 teams going up to the Superliga.

But I imagine that the fact that Just chose to accept a loan deal from Horsens to the Austrian 2nd tier, means he wasn't happy at Horsens and ain't going back to there.

Transfermarkt says St Polten have an option to buy. Maybe IFK Göteborg will come back in for him - they had a big rejected in May 2024

Think that offer came up as Just had worked with former Göteborg gaffer Jens Berthel Askou previously in Denmark.

He's since moved back to Denmark to take up the assistant manager role with FC Copenhagen. So I mean if he could swing a move back there, then that'd be great! 😃
