Sounds horrible. Losing your career is one thing, but not being able to do normal tasks is terrible.

I was looking through the Portland Timbers subreddit today to see fans opinions of how Surman is getting on, and saw this post.

Jake Gleeson's medical malpractice case against the Timbers and a team doctor has begun, and it seems like there was some really shady stuff being covered up, some of which involved former All White Gavin Wilkinson (who has a bit of a shady past with allegations coming from the NWSL, it seems).

This case will be one to follow. A tragic end to Gleeson's career for sure.

EDIT: Update from a few days ago is here.

Gavin Wilkinson is due to testify on behalf of the surgeon. Should be interesting.

Still only 34 Gleeson. Basically didn't play again from age 28 (young for a GK)

Gleeson is seeking more than $25 million USD (43,547,125 NZD). He recently settled with two other defendants including a surgery centre partially owned by Edelson.

Really feel for the guy, glad he got his payout.

Must have been hard for him to see the boys qualify knowing that he'd likely have been there if not for this.

Appeared on the unused sub pod.

He doesn't have the money yet as there will be appeals that go on for years.
