Busy game for Gleeson it seemed.

MLS really does look like a great comp to play in.

Big passionate crowds (I imagine lots of latino football fans with craziness they bring), in proper rectangular stadiums (this West Coast derby game had 40,000 fans) and in good weather being a summer league.

As always questionable American soccer terminology/commentary though.

Agree with you on that. I'm surprised with amount of fans who support there clubs the chants. I just crack up at the terminology by some american broadcasters

Timbers lose 1-2 away. Agree with commentator that Gleeson at fault for the first Colorado goal.

Opposing keeper that Tourettes sufferer Tim Howard

Gleeson dropped to bench for Timbers latest game a 2-3 loss away to Minnesota.

Not making some impact it seems this season.

Not much he could have done about the second. Let down by the defence. Just goal highlights, so hard to tell if he had much else to do in the game.

Timbers dominated the second half but never really pushed hard for a 3rd and it cost them. Picking the ball up out of his net late was pretty much his only action in the second half.

Not a great night for Gleeson & Portland. A 1-4 loss at home to Real Salt Lake. Gleeson credited with an own goal for Salt Lake's 3rd.

https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/07/20/4-minute...

Game changed when 3 players sent off (2x Timbers & 1x Salt Lake) around 50-55 mins.

Note a few flares let off at game end! Home fans obviously not happy.

Next game verus Vancouver this weekend. Will there be 2 Kiwi keepers in the match day squads?

just watched highlights. Feel for Gleeson, the defence in front of him is some of the worst if seen, like a wooden spoon nix type defense.

Wow, that was comically awful defending.  2nd clip that Gleeson saved was like watching Old Christie and O'Dor from S1!

Couple of late saves to hold on to a 2-1 win away at the Whitecaps.

good save though!

Compare his keeping vs the one for Bernie Ibini's first MLS goal. Can see why Gleeson has picked up a few save of the weeks over his career.

Bad attempted palm off/punch by Gleeson prior to first Houston goal.

Watched the highlights of this match during the week on the Duke channel which is on both Freeview and Sky (ch.13 Freeview, ch. 23 Sky). The Highlights show has English commentators familiar from EPL and Championship coverage like Clive Allen.

It's great having both live MLS games and a weekly highlights show on NZ television now that eight Kiwis are at MLS clubs (eight including those playing in reserve sides - Gleeson, Tuiloma, Boxall, Wynne, Marinovic, Colvey, de Vries, Bevan).

Three of the Kiwi contingent are former South Islanders (Tuiloma and de Vries ex-Christchurch and Colvey ex-Nelson and Marlborough)

MLS highlights show is on at 8.55 am and 11.55 am this Wednesday for last weekend's action and repeated later in the week.

Last weekend's live game DC Utd vs. Toronto is repeated 12 pm Tuesday.

The Portland Timbers will once again be dealing with significant injuries Saturday when they travel to face New York City FC.

Timbers captain Liam Ridgewell (quad injury), forward Fanendo Adi (hamstring injury) and goalkeeper Jake Gleeson (hamstring injury) have all been ruled out for the game, Timbers coach Caleb Porter said.

"It's looking like they won't be healthy," Porter said.

Gleeson has been back in training, but still needs to time to get back to full strength and sharpness, Porter said.

I'm pretty sure this game is being shown live on Duke channel this Sunday.
